First thing to know, Downtown Omaha is kind of a grocery store desert - or at least that was the impression I got from my visit. We were travelling with our toddler and while I KNOW she should be 100% off bottles, we are picking our fights and she still enjoys one with her milk in the morning and in the evening. That being said, we only brought two bottles and planned on cleaning them as we went. Our only problem was we forgot dish soap. After asking the front desk where would be the easiest place to find some they recommended Cubby's and they were right! While you pay convenience store prices, it was easy to pick up what we needed and they had a few options which was nice. The store itself has a good variety of food, snacks, odds and ends, and likely serves as a little grocer for anyone who lives nearby. I wouldn't say I loved this place so much I would definitely return, but I will say it was clean, had what we needed, and was conveneint, which really was about all I could ask for in a nearby convenience store.

I go to Cubby's fairly often, since it's what we have for a grocery store in the Old Market…read more Obviously prices are going to be higher here for most things than they would be if you went out of the Old Market. It can be kind of hectic in there sometimes, but staff are nice and keep things going. They have a nice meat counter. Also they serve a large variety of prepared or ready-to-prepare gas-station foods such as chicken, sandwiches, and Godfather's pizza. They also have some nice cheeses and things if you want to be a little more fancy. I like that they have some vintage items from former local restaurants on display. Gives it a unique feel that's appropriate to this historic area. They sell gas here, too. I've never bought it because I have an EV, which honestly is not at all convenient to have in the Old Market; it would be easier to purchase gas here than it is to access a charger in this part of town.

Lady behind the counter was explicit in making sure that we understood who's breakfast burritos were who's, and added cinnamon sugar to the bottom of the pretzel too because "it's not hurting anybody" are you kidding me that is gold star food preparation work. Even a double check on all the dipping sauces just in case of a miscommunication on the app. Also watched a lady run to stop a guy who dropped merchandise on the way out the door obviously the employees are all around clutching. Kid at the register was a little dead inside but also looked young probably a student you can't be mad about that dudes gotta eat and has an exam tomorrow it's a long night we've all been there. As for the review guy throwing a tantrum about a sandwich I don't know what to tell you I've only ever gotten the 4.99 ultimate breakfast burrito and I've never had one single problem hit the probiotics isle tbh I will buy that exact ""stomach ache" food combination next time I go I'll let you know but all I'm saying is trusting Wawa over QuickTrip is a pretty condemning character trait in the first place. QT shakes are nuts too. As for the other bozo I don't know where to start about that guy except for clearly there's some kind of chemical imbalance going on that is almost certainly also responsible for missing the 5th star.

They don't sell sushi here, but I'm not about to try their fare, not out of gastrointestinal fear, but just not a fan of the roller dogs. (The survey below this form is asking me if I know if they cater. Only if you're having your wedding reception in a van.) The renovation is an improvement. Before this, I was about to pump some gas, when I noticed a bunch smoking right outside the front door. I guess they noticed me and then walked away only to reveal that they were smoking in front of the Blue Rhino (yes, that's propane) cage. The cashiers are friendly, probably glad when anybody looking halfway normal walks through the door. Don't go walking around in this neighborhood.

Ever wanted bacon-wrapped tubed meat from a gas station? Go here. Sheesh. I prefer other giant gas station/convenience stores, but I'll stop by here when I'm in the area and in need of bacon dogs and Four Loco or whatever. I guess it's nice Bucky's is a chain that's locally based, but I get sick of their disregard of the city and its history. They don't hesitate to tear down historic buildings, eyeing to plop down another glorified cookie-cutter liquor store. Hey they make a $hit-ton of money, I'm sure. I'll leave it at this: Would you rather have a giant Bucky's or a renovated Dundee Theater? How about a giant Bucky's or DoSpace at 72nd and Dodge? I'm glad Omaha got the latter in both cases. If it were up to Bucky's, well...
