Sounds like she thought she was special in a small school and didn't measure up when it came to real competition. There are many students, that's what you get when you live in a great area with good funding from parents and people who live in the community. My children currently attend and love their school, their peers and their teachers.

The concession stand was great with affordable pricing; except I heard they ran low on bottles water during the evening; ouch especially in the summer heat. I loved the Phantom Regiment's show the best, though they lost out to the Bluecoats's performance. Overall a great night watching one of my favorite past-time, live and in person. Brings back fond memories from my younger days marching with the Guardsmen back in the days, practices, traveling, and the competitions. Envy those younger folks on the field; memories they will cherish throughout their life. Very nice evening!

I went to watch a mock dance competition in the auditorium and WOW.. this school is huge, and amazing. I'm guessing if they put this much money into the school, the staff has to be top notch. It's a beautiful school with amazing and clean facilities. The auditorium was large and it felt as if I should be paying an admission to come and watch this event here. There was a swim meet going on the same day, and I couldn't believe they had a pool inside the school. It was packed upstairs so I can only imagine what that area looked like. If you are heading to the school for an event, I'd say you are in for a nice surprise.

After our daughter left CHCA and went to a much better private school it was like a light switch turned on and she grew into a confident young lady and went on to graduate college. My son enrolled in Schilling in the 6th grade. He found his people at Schilling! The students,…read moreteachers, administration are family. The administration and teachers CARE about their students. My son had many teachers that he admired. His favorite teacher is Mr. Rick Heflin. Mr. Heflin goes above and beyond the role of a teacher. He understands the gifted students. The students respect him. Attending Schilling school gave my son many opportunities that he would not have received at public school or wouldn't have had the confidence to "try" at public school. A few examples: drama, Schilling Singers, board game club, aikido (Japanese martial art) and fencing. Perfect example of his growth is the fencing class/team. During our first open house/meet teacher Schilling had a Fencing demonstration by the fencing teachers/coach. My son watched and was not interested. Due to his class interest and scheduling he had to enroll in fencing his sophomore year. He wasn't "excited" about this class. Many of his friends were also in the class. In a short time, he fell in LOVE with fencing. Schilling Fencing teams participate in SOHFA (Southern Ohio High School Fencing Association) league. They fence other high school teams (Sycamore, Mason, etc.). Fencing is described as Athletic Chess. Perfect sport for gifted children. My son's senior year his Sabre Fencing team went undefeated and he was undefeated in the individual tournament. He also stepped out of his comfort zone and participated with the Schilling Singers his senior year. The high school students went to Austria the spring of his senior year. The Schilling Singers performed at several venues including "Chorissimo" annual choral event. Chorissimo feature twenty-five finest school choirs in southern Austria. The Schilling Singers won first place at the festival under the direction of their dedicated teacher Dr. Doug Frank. My son had taken guitar and keyboard lessons during his years at Schilling but had never been a part of the choir groups. Dr. Frank made him feel comfortable and confident to become part of the Schilling Singers. When you ask my son about his high school trip to Austria, his favorite memory was being a part of the Schilling Singers! As a parent I wanted to also share my Schilling experience. My son mostly had positive experiences at Schilling. But he was not always happy in Middle or High School at Schilling. At times he was frustrated with other students and teachers. When I picked him up from school, the first ten minutes he would go off on a tangent. I believe he would have had the same or quite frankly even more frustrations at any other school (private or public). These frustrations are part of growing up and part of being gifted. Just because I was paying tuition didn't mean everything was going to be perfect. Life isn't perfect. Our son had incidents that we leaned on the teachers and Dr. Schilling to help us. We TRUSTED the teachers and Dr. Schilling. We trusted them because we knew they cared for our son and their many years of experience. Schilling School opened in 1997. My son graduated from Schilling May 2018. At graduation the seniors all speak about reflection of Schilling. My son's speech was heart felt for his love of Schilling. He said, "it's not the building, it's the people that make this wonderful school". He spoke about how Schilling was his safe place. He will begin college in a few weeks. He is a smart, confident young man who is prepared for this next phase of life.
