Anything that had to be moved was put back exactly as they found it. Our house was washed (the deck was awful and now looks like new), stained and the exterior doors painted. The neighborhood compliments are rolling in. Our house has never looked better. And I should mention, their quote came in under another who did not include painting the doors. I recommend WV Painters (Kavalier and Klay) without reservation. We'll be hiring them again.

George, the "owner" is a disrespectful, misogynistic, snake-like crook, and he likes to hire them too. After 7 days, of a 3-4 day job, not one room, of an entire interior paint job, was completed, not even a closet. Refused to complete the job at the standard hired. Threw cigarettes butts all over my driveway. Left my trash can filled to the brim, unbagged. Left a trail of mud and paint all over my cabinets, floors, trim, doors, furniture. Covered my electronics in dust. I also have the owner on video asking his subcontractor "When was the last time you smoked?". He likes to say it's about cigarettes but we all know it's not. I also have the contractor on video attempting to regain access to my house after I told him he was no longer welcome inside. He will get in your face, even if you're a woman. I was told that George needs to talk to my husband "man to man" and in private. I was also told I don't live in reality cause paint was COMPLETELY MISSING from a wall that he refused to accept. George also threatened me when I told him I was going to be leaving a bad review and sharing the videos I have. Literally saying "You better not; I'll come after you." Oh will you George, will you come after me for sharing the truth about your crooked company??? I could go on and on and have so much video from this company that is just horrendous. I have reported them to the BBB as well as the Consumer Protection Division and shared the videos with them. Seriously, this was the worst experience we have ever had. I, as a woman, have never felt more uncomfortable and uneasy with a group of men at my house. Do your research. And if you still make the decision to hire them, MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN THE CONTRACT, including exact timeline. I mean everything....cause they will try and shortcut wherever they can and blame it on the contract. He won't do anything he says the company will do. George brags about how many houses he has painted, but honestly it's kind of sad that he thinks that's a flex and not an embarrassment that he's not better at it by now. The best part about this company was them finally leaving my house and never returning.

We…read morehad a 35,000 insurance claim for the inside of our home which included extensive drywall work, lvp and hardwood installation, plumbing , painting. They had one person, Mike , with his son and cousin do all of it. Hardwoods became an issue-at least 20 different places with lippage, and gaps big enough to place credit card in, which I did to demonstrate how big they were, Chris/owner came out and refused to replace it. He opened door to our laundry room, I asked him what he was doing and asked him to close it, he proceeded to open and pointed down to a 20 plus year old transition piece of hardwood and said pre existing condition this is what you had before, meaning I should be grateful for what I have because our floors were showing age, told me I was being too picky and referred again to our pre existing floors. Next day, they bring in another worker who placed filler in the gaps, he had been doing so for 6 hours before we asked him to stop so we would have time to research long term effects of so much filler. Mike, installer, stated multiple times it was a manufacturing issue/problem with hardwoods and pointed to a huge pile of waste where it wouldn't fit together properly, when boss/owner, Chris Lazzelle came he back peddled on all of it, would not stand on his word of what he previously said, asked him why he changed his story, played the semantics game told us, "I said it was a manufacturing issue not problem." Are you kidding me? This is after he told us he left the bright construction light for us so we could see all the issues. We had to have transition strip from kitchen to living room replaced due to not matching three times, when I say didn't match, it was like black and white. Any issue with hardwood or hardwood steps was always met with we will fill it, I understand filler is used in all hardwood installs, but not to fill gaps that I literally placed a credit card in to show Mr Lazelle. What speaks volumes is the fact that the project manager coming on VERY LAST day of rebuild and stated "I'm just collecting information." WHAT, on last day?!?!? We Didn't even know he existed until he randomly started messaging my husband with appointments for cleaning and what not. This was our first time dealing with insurance and or contractors, PLEASE do your homework, we were too trusting!

I don't think I have left a negative review for anyone... ever. I had Rising Sun with Chris…read moreBailey, the owner, as my project manager, renovate my home (3 bathrooms, flooring, woodwork, 2 porches, columns, roof, gutters, etc.). It was the most frustrating, disappointing and stressful experience I have had with any contractor during my lifetime. I have renovated numerous rental homes acting as project manager and hiring sub-contractors over the last 20 years but I hired Rising Sun for my home because I didn't want to have to actively supervise and was new to the area so I wasn't familiar with the local services providers. To be clear, Chris Bailey is talented and is capable of creating some beautiful, quality projects but it seems to depend on his interest and mood. IF there is an issue, he is a master at blaming, dodging, avoiding, denying and manipulating... basically he is smooth talker and doesn't want to take responsibility for mistakes or poor quality unless cornered. I never would have hired Rising Sun if I had known what I know now. I do NOT respect, trust or recommend Rising Sun. He is not worth his inflated pricing. The two main issues he now refuses to address are the sub-standard roof and gutter installations. *His contract stated that my roof would be installed by a Certainteed approved installer but it was not which voids the product warranty. I have brought this up numerous times and he will not address that fact. I now have a new roof that leaks but Mr. Bailey claims that it is installed "properly" right after also stating that you "can't tell without removing shingles." His contract provides a 25 year labor warranty but he won't pay for a Certainteed approved roofer to fully investigate the leak. He will dodge, deny and blame but refuses to acknowledge the fact that his original installer was not what was promised in the contract. I have already arranged for and paid for 3 roof repairs in a different area before contacting him about the new leak. In addition, the soffits were forcibly pried away from the roof during install and not bent back leaving room for animal and pest intrusion into the soffits which resulted in a squirrel gaining access into my attic. More repairs that I had to pay for due to sloppy work. *The gutters were installed by inexperienced workers through a contractor that was difficult to contact and deal with. I sent an email to Mr. Bailey about all the problems with the gutter install - incorrect pitch and improperly sealed corners mainly - and he stated "there are no good gutter installers in Morgantown but at least this one will come back to correct mistakes." It was very difficult to get any corrections made and finally Mr. Bailey just handed me the phone number for the contractor to deal with myself. After one section of gutter fell off the house, pulling the facia off with it, another contractor I hired fixed it and told me that there were not enough fasteners and they were only screwed into the facia, not studs or rafters, which is why it failed. I paid for those repairs and the pitch is still off on the other gutter spans so I am still experiencing issues. Mr. Bailey claims that he recently confirmed proper fastener spacing and install, but the first gutter run I checked (the one I have brought to his attention numerous times) has fasteners spaced up to 46" apart (36" is the maximum acceptable in warmer climates with 16"-18" being the standard for areas with heavy snowfall). *Our contract stated an expected project time of 10 weeks. I typically increase the time estimate in my mind to prevent frustration but Rising Sun was working on my home for 10 months. *The first bill he sent me was for thousands of dollars with no explanation of what I was paying for. The company seemed surprised when I asked for a specific breakdown and invoices justifying the charges. *Mr. Bailey doesn't listen and is easily distracted. I sent photos showing what I wanted and the feel I was going for and initially he seemed to understand because it was consistent with his previous projects. Then he would ask the same questions over and over, ask for the photos again and install something so different and wrong (specifically a wood accent ceiling in the master bedroom) that I thought he might be thinking of a different project. He attempted to charge me for the install, the removal and the re-install when it was his mistake and lack of supervision that caused the problem. *He does not supervise his contractors/workers as stated in his contract. He would usually come by if there was an issue but many times he would reschedule, run late or just not show up for appointments even with his contractors/workers. I was constantly asked by them what they were supposed to be working on and for details that I had already given Mr. Bailey. For more details, see my Facebook review.

To say that having our new home built by Rising Sun was a terrible experience would be an…read moreastronomical understatement. No amount of words could describe just how awful our experience was. I have personally been in construction for 10 years as an IBEW electrician, I know how construction is supposed to go and how people should be treated. This company raked my wife and I over the coals for 15 MONTHS on a 1,478 square foot cabin style home. We were treated with disrespect from the owner, argued with, and ultimately have a bran new home that we are not happy with. To say Rising Sun performs shotty, poor quality work would once again be a huge understatement, not to mention they DO NOT stand behind their work. If you confront them about an issue they will argue, drag out the project, and the fix is just as bad, if not worse, than the original issue. We are living in the home and I am fixing things (what is fixable) as time and money allows. It will take a while to make the house what is should be. Again, no amount of words can really describe our experience. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. I am writing this review so that good people, like my wife and I, have a chance to NOT go through what we went through. Do your homework on contractors! There are good ones out there, I assure you this in not one of them. PS- just so that the pandemic can't be used as an excuse, I should add our build started in early September 2019 with an (original) completion date of March 2020 ( ending up being late November 2020). *Update: We have been living in our house for 16 months now. We have siding literally falling off the house, drywall cracking wall to wall, drains leaking, fireplace that never got vented, and more nail pops and floor squeaks than you can shake a stick at. Our chimney is wider on the bottom that the top causing a major eye sore. When I asked the owner about this back during construction his reply was "I don't have the money in the job to fix it, sorry". So that's what we are left with. Yes, we absolutely should have sued, but unfortunately all of our money went into the sorry excuse for a house that they built us so we didn't have the money for lawyers, court costs, etc.
