IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AHOLD OF/ Follow up I put in a a request for catering on their website on Jan 15th and did not hear back, decided to call a week later, Debbie told they (or someone) were out of town, hence the delay, and that was why they hadnt gotten back to me sooner but that they'd get a quote to me by end of day. Never heard back. I called again three days later, left a voicemail. Called again a week ish later, was told their "systems went down" and was apologized to and that they'd get a qoute to me within 24 ish hours. Never heard back, that was 2 weeks ago. ALL of this time wasted waiting for just a qoute. Catering is a lot of money- and most people want to spend their money with people/companies who actually want it. Taking a month to just give a qoute is bad business. Just say you cant take on another client right now. Wouldnt recommend. read more

Simply Thyme Catering just catered my sister and niece's birthday party - both have Celiac disease and Debbie provided a delicious and entirely GLUTEN FREE Hawaiian themed buffet. We even had gluten free mac and cheese and chicken strips for the kids. Debbie went above and beyond for our party and everyone raved about the teriyaki chicken, pulled pork, salads and rolls. She provided plates, utensils, serving ware, chafing dishes, etc. Delivery was on time and set up was easy. My sister has a very hard time finding truly Celiac safe food and Simply Thyme Catering knocked it out of the park for us. Thank you Debbie! read more

Simply Thyme catering was recommended to us. We met with them in May to discuss a menu for our wedding 21 August 21. We received an email from Debbie with the menu and an estimate shortly after. The problems began after we asked for an updated estimate. I was planning everything long distance so I emailed and then waited weeks, never receiving a response. It got to the point where my then fiancée went back to the shop to find out what the issue was. We were told that they were very busy, but that they would be able to accommodate our request. We were still willing to go with them even though at this point the wedding was about a month out and I was having deep reservations. After this conversation and waiting another week. When we still hadn't received the updated estimate we went and found another caterer last minute, which ended up costing us a lot more money. The wedding was last weekend and we still have not received any replies to my emails, not even to say sorry for not being able to accommodate us. Not sure what the issue was, but we were extremely disappointed at the lack of response/communication even though we were very understanding about how busy they were AND gave them the opportunity to back out. I wouldn't recommend this place for any important occasions. I wouldn't leave any stars if I could. read more

This is by far the worst catering company in Vancouver Washington. I would NOT reccomend them to my dog. The Owner is extremely rude and is constantly YELLING at her staff. The food is mediocer at best. I found a spider in my grapes. Come to find out she does NOT wash her fruit or vegeatbles. The kitchen is FILTHY dirty. I don't even think they have washed their floor in months. Went to pick up an order and they couldn't even find it. EXTREMLY DISSAPPOINTED!! I will NEVER use them again. read more

Simply Thyme will leave you high and dry! I'm on the event committee for my company and we decided to use Simply Thyme to cater our Thanksgiving lunch. We placed the order for 50 box lunches on Friday 11-19 for our lunch at Noon on Tuesday 11-23. They took the order and confirmed the delivery to be made an hour before our lunch. They contacted us 15 minuets prior to the agreed upon delivery time to inform us that they would not be fulfilling the order. Not that they would be late or short a few boxes, the ENTIRE ORDER WAS CANCELLED! They ruined our employee's well deserved special lunch and left everyone with empty stomachs. I would think twice about using Simply Thyme if you intend on actually eating something. read more

Presentation is a serious part of being a professional caterer. It's not just about incredible homemade berry/nut muffins, or still warm - sundried tomato, spinach with feta and pinenuts quiche. It's about displaying it so your guests know that they are being spoiled. I needed a decent breakfast for some executives for an important meet and greet, and these folks delivered. They do their own baking so you are not getting store bought food. They use quality ingredients when preparing their food. One of the other best parts about this catering business is they make the person that ordered the food look like they know how to do their own job well. read more

This is the second time we have used Simply Thyme to cater a vegan affair. The first was last May for our 50th wedding anniversary and the second was yesterday for our sons "Day after the Wedding" picnic. We were so completely please both times. I was a bit worried to ask a regular caterer for a VEGAN menu but the food was delicious. Everything was delivered according to plan, and everyone we spoke to were friendly and helpful. How does this place have almost 5 stars? Almost everything tasted like pre packages food that was laid out and topped with cream cheese. Customer service via phone is non existent - unprofessional person who sounded like a 12 year old girl girl. Took a few weeks to update and scan a receipt and I called and spoke to the same girl 3 or 4 times about it. I should have just bought a costco tray instead of paying 4x for subpar food and bad customer service. read more

Tammy, the owner, is an award winning chef and it shows. in the following 24 years they've catered numerous home parties, office events, and my wedding on the Sternwheeler Rose. I haven't cooked myself for Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve for probably 8 years. In fact, my husband just left to pick up our precooked Thanksgiving dinner from STC. Had the pleasure of working with Mike and his team at a recently catered corporate event that took place at the Brickstone Ballroom in downtown Vancouver. Through both my email correspondences and phone calls with Mike I felt completely confident that he fully understood our event and our needs, and he delivered in both quality and service. I was particularly appreciative because we had some very specific and detailed requests regarding the event, but the team was prepared with everything we could have asked for and took care of it all-from set up to break down and a thorough cleaning of the venue. His servers and staff were respectful, polite, helpful, proactive, and went out of the way to accommodate our guests. Presentation of food is very poor. Too costly for the amount we ordered, didn't expect it . The person in charged that I dealt with is hard to reached. She promised to be at the venue before the event but didn't show up, didn't call either. I could not believed. I don't recommend this place to anybody. We have had Simply Thyme out to our venue several times and they are always on time, pleasant and the food..wonderful. We just had our staff dinner this last weekend and had their family style service. It was fantastic!!!! Presentation is just as important as the quality of the food to me. They did not disappoint! It was beautiful. The best party though...the steak!!! A glorious thick cut of top sirloin, pink all the way through with lovely seared outside. So tender that it melted in my mouth! On October 21st and 22nd I attended a seminar that was catered by this company. The first day the sandwich that was on focaccia bread seemed a bit stale. The second day there were leftover sandwiches so I took one home. When I reheated it briefly in the microwave this particular sandwich was not stale. This is the only reason why I know that the first one was a bit off. The amount of chicken and Turkey in the sandwiches was extremely minimal. Most of us at the seminar felt that all we were eating was bread. So when the bread is stale that is really disappointing. One of our attendees needed to have her sandwich gluten free. On both days they forgot to bring her a gluten free sandwich and brought her a gluten free cookie. Who would eat regular bread and request a gluten free cookie? So they had to be called because the woman really needed her sandwich and the caterer had to make a special trip to deliver and this poor woman had to wait 30 or 40 minutes for her lunch. Their presentation is beautiful. Now I don't know if the company putting on the seminar requested turkey sandwiches, but for the record turkey should never be served in the middle of the day for people who are trying to stay awake through a seminar. They had a variety of cookies and my least favorite was the plain sugar cookie. One was half dipped in chocolate which was a very nice presentation. read more

Really wanted to give a great review. Working with Danielle at the start was terrific. The price seemed fair $125 to feed six people. Once we got the meal, everything else was not to our standard. Understand the food tasted great, but there wasn't enough food to feed our crew of 5 (we ordered for six, for extra food). The person who dropped off the food was very unpleasant and seemed to be bothered to be there. For $125 we received 6 chicken breast, a medium potato salad, and a green salad. They did provide plastic silverware. We ended up ordering pizza to make sure everyone went home full. I contacted Danielle, and she said she would get back to me and as of today (over the week) haven't heard a word back. Was hoping for a better experience, to end a great week of working with our crew, but we all left disappointed with the whole experience. read more

Simply Thyme catered my wedding about a week ago, and it was absolutely perfect! We met with Michael and Tammy a couple times over the months before the wedding to pick out the perfect menu, discuss linens and dishes, and work out the timeline. The initial tasting was great. We looked over their vast menu and got some sample menus from Michael ahead of time and then picked out what we wanted to try. The day of the wedding they arrived early to set up the buffet and dishes/glasses/etc on the tables and made them look beautiful. The buffet line went quickly, as they had staff helping guests serve themselves. My husband and I ate dinner in one of the getting ready rooms so we could have a little time to ourselves and Michael set us up with utensils, drinks, and napkins and even brought us some of the appetizers we had missed out on while getting photos done. All we had to do was load our plates up from the buffet and sit down. We chose vegetarian lasagna, potatoes au gratin, grilled vegetables, spinach salad, and focaccia bread for dinner and spinach-artichoke dip, bacon/chevre/leek canapes, and fresh fruit for appetizers. It was delicious, and many of our guests told us afterward how much they enjoyed it. One of the guests told me it was the best food she's ever had at a wedding! Overall, the catering was fantastic. I had quite a bit of anxiety about planning everything leading up to the wedding, but I never worried about the catering, and it turned out just as I expected. I had Simply Thyme cater an event with about 120 boxed lunches and was VERY impressed with both the quality of the food and even more so with the service. When I was searching for a caterer they responded promptly (unlike most) and provided a couple samples of sandwich boxes which helped me be confident our guests would be satisfied. They provided some ordering advice which helped me order the right number and type of lunches for an estimated number of guests. They were even flexible with dietary requirements! Their service and support continued throughout the process when I was at my busiest, which I can't say enough about (if you're an event planner, you know). The menu is competitively priced, but what set Simply Thyme apart IMHO is the variety of gourmet sandwiches offered and that they include a NW style potato salad, when most places just offered a bag of chips and cookie (these were also included in their boxed lunches). The sandwiches were all delicious, well presented and perfect for our event. Our guests were very happy with the lunch so this is one caterer I've put high on my list to use again. Im sad to say simply thyme is not getting a better review from us. We started out pretty great, the initial transaction seemed promising as they offered energetic and sweet customer service. Come to find the service did not follow through. Our transaction details were: seasoned thyme chicken, rice pilaf, veggies (asparagus, zucchini, carrots, peppers, onions), dinner rolls, and salad with balsamic vinegar and ranch on side. The food would have been delivered inconspicuously at the specific drop off spot (empty table) and they'd be in and out. Also we noted we had specific decore and would not need their plates and utensils. We paid our fees early. Time of wedding gets closer and not once did they reach out to confirm anything with us, no biggie, but I figured they would have since they said they would've, oh well. so I called and it's all confirmed as planned. Day of wedding person dropping off food was not "inconspicuous" in fact she had the nerve to roam around asking everyone for us and then interrupted our photos to have us show her where to set up. It took over an hour to set up. And left the ugly plates and utensils after we asked not to use them. I forgot to mention part of the services was that they would prep a "to go plate" for two getting married and they failed to do that too. And you'd think we'd get the delicious sounding food mentioned above but no. It was basic! Literally dry grilled chicken, puffy white rice, hard rolls, random flowers inside the salad, and no balsamic. With the fees gratuity is automatically included, which is fine but maybe give value to the work too for as much as you charge. We've reached out to simply thyme via email twice and by phone and have not heard back. We wanted to only share the feedback with them so that they would better improve their business and give a better catering experience to the next couple. However it has been almost two months and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. What started off promising wasn't worth all the hype. You're better off going to Costco and making it at home. We had Simply Thyme cater our wedding last fall. We worked with Kora on the menu and everything was good until the day of the wedding. The food was good, however, customer service from the lead male chief/caterer was absolutely horrible. He kept telling "one protein, take only one protein" when our guests where getting food, even though we had a small group and ordered for way more people than the amount that was present and there was so much meat left over. He yelled at absolutely all of our guests, including small children and my pregnant sister in law. My husband told the caterer staff they can also eat the food, which they did, and then either threw out or took with them the rest of the meat, leaving us with no leftovers, for which we obviously paid. I emailed the company after the event but never heard anything back. Very disappointed our family and guests had to experience such unprofessional and rude behavior on our wedding. When people talk about our wedding this is what the first thing they remember. We are left with very bad memories. read more

The food was amazing, the service was above and beyond, and I literally started walking around handing out their cards to anyone who would listen to me when the subject of needing caterers came up. Each time I spoke with Michael Fritz who was very efficient and responsive via email since we live out of town. Most impressive is the fact that this caterer meets the needs of those with food allergies with gluten and dairy intolerance. I've used Simply Thyme over the years for 1) my daughter's wedding 2) my wedding 3) open house when we sold our home 4) a variety of functions for the law firm I used to work for 5) Thanksgiving and 6) Christmas and a number of other times when I wanted something special and didn't want to cook it myself. I think the first time was back in 1999. While I noticed a couple of reviewers were unhappy I've never had anything but a wonderful, delicious and well presented meal from them. They have also provided servers for a number of the events and my experience was that they were very professional helpful. Every company has a failure now and then but that hasn't been my personal experience with Simply Thyme. The main chef, Tammy, is award winning and it shows. Little touches (like their homemade apple butter, yum) and a beautiful presentation make their meals a feast of the senses. I'm getting ready to order a dinner for 20 next month and Christmas dinner (I've already ordered Thanksgiving). While I can find catered food elsewhere that is less expensive, I've never found any place that beats these folks for value for your dollars. read more
