Great company, and I really wanted to love the brand new (2024) owner April Linden. The previous owner Karalee Austin was fabulous. I have given April (new owner) every chance, but she does not answer emails, and she's impersonal (and borderline rude) to customers when checking in to a dance or speed dating event. There are problems with the events themselves, for example the dances are 90% women. (I'm a woman wanting to meet men) And both speed dating events I attended were run poorly, too short, and lacked men. Really tried to love the new owner. Hoping she will eventually come around. I am going to be fully and complete honest with this review I don't know April or know anybody affiliated with this dating service. Dating sites with pictures and all of that can be fake which I have found out several times that they are some of the ladies don't want to send pictures or don't want to video chat when I think it is a good thing that you meet face to face. I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure that I went on about a month ago. I highly suggested and recommend it to anybody who is trying to find that special one. April was very amazing the entire couple of hours that we were there she was right at the door greeted us and basically knew who we were when we walked in, I have been trying to hook something up for several months with them but I don't want to travel half hour or 45 minutes and I'm sorry about that. I have attended many Simply the Best Singles events in Carlsbad, Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego and Los Angeles. The speed dating is great fun, the dances are well attended and so beautifully organized. Karalee Austin has owned the company for twenty years; she's a wizard at bringing together interesting singles, great bands, and creative mixer activities at fabulous venues. Karalee is responsible for many singles meeting at Simply the Best Singles events and becoming happy couples. I'm told that in addition to the frequent spectacular events already offered by Simply the Best Singles, a Custom Matchmaking service will be available soon. For anyone over 40 seeking lifetime of love or first date, this is zero risk (unlike your job) and far more selective than Club whatever (where a lot of people are just out for dancing or ego stroking). I attended a singles mixer at the Hilton in Del Mar Sat, Nov 5th. I had a delightful time and met many attractive and interesting single women in my age range. It was organized by Karalee Austin (Owner) and her competent staff. Karalee and her staff organized a top notch function and are to be congratulated for their presentation. Overpriced. A bunch of hype marketing. The lights were turned down way too low. The guests, bartender, staff and entertainers, could not even see what they were doing. Appears to be a cattle-call to get your money. The event coordinator; Karalee, was unprofessional with the way she talked to guests and staff. Gave me the creeps. Think her concern is money and she seemed very demanding and VERY unorganized and everyone was rolling their eyes when they interacted with her. ( I attended the Del Mar Marriot event on November 16th.) Seemed like the Simple Best Singles is just another scam for money with photo booths and a fortune teller. The band and DJ were excellent but I could not even see them as it was so dark plus my drink was gin and not rum because the bartender could not see either. read more

I attended this recurring singles mixer on 7/19/14 for the first time. There was a decent amount of people and it seemed to be a pretty even distribution among men and women. However, in general the men seemed to be too young for me, mostly 40s, with a few too old, in their 70s. I am in my early 60s, so this was not a good match for me. I was expecting more icebreakers to help meet men, but the only one offered was for women carrying around little keys and asking to unlock the guys locks. This was awkward and uncomfortable for me, as I am basically a shy person. Two of the guys I asked did not have locks and I was told they had slid in somehow, bypassing the lock-giver. This should not have happened. I thought the drinks were pricy, $8-10 or so, considering we paid a $13 admission. The last thing I was unhappy about, and which was nobodys fault, was the sheer aggressiveness of some of the women! Twice a man was "swiped" from me in an aggressive fashion. The first time, I was happily sitting having a nice conversation w/ a very cute guy. A woman came up to him, actually grabbed his hand and asked him to dance! Was she blind? It was obvious that we were engrossed in conversation. She stood there and kept talking to him, so I finally got up and left the table. Checking back, she had taken my seat and was still talking to him 30 min later! SO RUDE!! Another time, I began to speak to a guy and a woman came up on the other side of him, grabbing his hand and pulling him to the dance floor. Weren't these women ever taught any manners or couth? Another woman I was chatting with told me that you have to be "moderately aggressive" at these events to compete with these women. That's not me. I'm not sure I will go back to one of these. On the positive side, the DJ played pretty good selections and The Marriott is a nice venue. read more

Attended a speed dating on Tuesday January 26 at the handlery hotel, at 7p.m.,under the impression that man were ages 40's and 50 Only,to encounter drunk older man 60 and 70s who were disrespectful to us ladies in our 40s "they were drunk, some of the more tha 70s and w partners at home" When one of us brought the issue to Karalee the host, she abruptly told the lady that she not longer was allowed in the Speed Dating or any other event from "SIMPLY THE BEST SINGLES " When another lady in writting approach karalee w same issue (older man in speed dating)she was belittled by statements like :"wearing jeans to the event was unacceptable ""that made her looked unattractive " Adding the cherry to the unethical imbroglio, we learned from the mouth of the male attendees THAT THEY have ATTENDED" FREE OF CHARGE" Please avoid wasting your money,time,and valuable life in SIMPLY THE BEST SINGLES all they care is to get your money, the saddest part its a woman doing this to other nice,professional beautiful ladies Am glad "kharma"exist read more
