We were incredibly impressed with the company and construction of the couches in the beginning. We called multiple times with questions and they were very helpful and informative. We placed the order and were given an estimated timeline. We called a week ago to get an update and were forwarded to a phone with a full mailbox. We then followed up via email also letting them know that their voicemail was full. We didn't receive a response. The next week we called and the voicemail wasn't full but we still had no answer. We've tried calling every day, on multiple days. It feels like we're being ghosted. If production is behind that needs to be communicated directly. We'd be disappointed but ultimately we want our couch and they allegedly make them very well so we'd be willing to wait. But because they have not responded to multiple attempts to communicate, we have no choice but to cancel the order. It's really a shame- we really wanted to love this company and its product! Looking at BBB complaints has revealed that a lot of people have had the same complaints over the last couple of months. Leadership is missing at this company- something has gone wrong in their operations and and instead of facing it directly with their customers, they're burying their heads in the sand. We ordered a sofa from them back in October 2021. Like the other reviewers we had success reaching them initially and at one point were told verbally that the sofa would be completed and shipped in early June. Since that contact we have not received any replies from repeated emails asking for an update that we have sent. The phone number mailbox used to accept messages but became full, and now it appears not to be disconnected. I am currently wondering if anyone is receiving any orders from them and if so what is the turn time. I suspect however that they have gone under. Let me first say that the product is exceptional. The quality of construction and attention to detail is the best I've seen in all of my furniture purchases over the years. The packaging used to protect the pieces was outstanding. No expense was spared to ensure that the product was safe during transport. The order process was easy and customer service let me know when there was a delay with fabric. Assembly was relatively easy. There was a problem with delivery. I ordered white glove service for an extra $300. Two days before the scheduled delivery date, I was told white glove was not available in my area. Communication with Simplicity Sofas became challenging at that point. Despite a phone conversation, VM's, texts, e-mails, I received an unexpected/unscheduled delivery a day after the original date. One driver - no white glove delivery. I was unable to get ahold of anyone at Simplicity and my communications were unanswered for almost a week. Finally, the Friday after the delivery, I received a call from the Customer Service agent at Simplicity. She was quite apologetic and assured me that I would receive a refund for the white glove delivery service. read more

We were very interested in this company and their products, and we had questions concerning cushions, fabrics, etc. However when we tried to establish contact by phone, using the number shown here on Yelp, and left several messages, after a week of trying, we were unable to get a return call. We did not want to place an order without getting more information by phone. Upon looking up the name of the company in an internet search, and also the company listed as the manufacturer, Dimarmel, Inc. we found numerous negative reviews on BBB, mostly concerning orders placed and products not received. I was thrilled when I bought my new Simplicity Sofa and chair. At first, this seemed like a quality company. But soon after purchase, the sofa cushions - which were supposed to last many many years, caved in and are now really ugly and uncomfortable. I've contacted the company many times, each time being met with empty promises of repair/replacement. To date [over 6 months of calling/waiting] no one has helped me. We LOVE our new sofas. It was so funny to receive them in pieces and amazing how easy they were to assemble. After 6 months of "Living Spaces" not being willing to address the issues we had with the sofa we purchased in June of 2016, we filed a small claims and were issued a full refund. I was apprehensive about ordering online but we all know the BEST furniture comes from NC. It was their reviews that pushed me their way. I'm glad I took the risk. They turned out beautiful. Even the toss pillows are darling. The only thing I wished were different would be the arm covers being maybe 8 inches longer. We are thrilled with both of our Simplicity Sofa purchases, made 4 years apart. Our initial purchase of the Megan mid-size sofa in brown leather has aged beautifully and looks as good as the day we got it. We got the base cushions and wish they were a bit softer, so we kept that in mind when ordering the Megan loveseat in a heavy duty fabric (specifically for kids and pets) this past fall. The upgraded springdown cushions are very nice and we are happy with the two sofas together. The customer service at Simplicity is what sets them apart. Our first experience was fantastic, and our second experience, though complicated by COVID, was also great. Our second order was delayed multiple times due to supplier delays and Simplicity being overwhelmed by orders, but every time I reached out to Jeff for a status update, he was very responsive. He ended up expediting our order and it arrived less than one week after he asked the crew to take care of it. We are very pleased with our orders, especially since we plan on these couches lasting a lifetime! read more

Update (3 days later): just got a call from the production manager and couch will be shipped in next week - it's at the inspection stage now. Will update the review again when we receive it. I have been really looking forward to seeing the furniture we ordered in September but so far that's all I've got -- a "future" couch. I have been calling and emailing, trying to get an answer on when I will actually see any of the furniture I already paid in full for five months ago. The people seem pleasant enough when I finally get a hold of them (I have to call every time -- 0 responses otherwise) but there are NO answers as to where anything is even though all I have been asking for is information. Originally (in September) I was told it would be ready in late November or December; then that date was pushed back to late January without any explanation; now there's just NO ANSWER at all. I get that we're all trying to cope during this pandemic -- I figured there would be delays -- and honestly I hate writing negative reviews like this. I am really frustrated. My wife and I visited their shop and met with Jeff. He was very nice and answered our questions. We placed an order for two sofas and paid over $4,000 back in Feb. 2022. Jeff told us he would not have the fabric until May or June. In August my wife called them to get an update and nobody answered the phone. She left VM's that were left without response. She still had Jeff's card and called him. He retired shortly after meeting with us and told us they never hired his replacement. My wife spoke with Martha B. who is supposed to be running the show. She was very polite with my wife and said she was on her way to the office and would review our order and call right back. Never happened. My wife couldn't leave VM's and nobody answers the phone. Finally I got my credit card company involved. If Simplicity Sofas does not respond to them, my money is refunded and they lose a customer for life. I ordered from them in 2022 and am now 4 months beyond the initial timeline and rotate between hearing nothing back or hearing it will be shipped next week and nothing ever happens. I now consider Simplicity Sofas AKA simplicitysofas.com a fraudulent company. The new owner are just doing what they can to perpetuate the fraud beyond the credit card refund timeline. Buyer beware. We really wanted a sleeper sofa on the second floor of our 1904 house, but a normal one would never have fit up our tiny, narrow stairway. Then I heard about Simplicity Sofas from a craftsman who works in our 1904 house from time to time. I figured if he thought it was good furniture it had to, well, be good furniture! And it was "modular"? (like could take it apart and put back together for moving or hauling up tiny stairways - perfect for us! - or even to change arm styles) It sounded fantastic. The only thing is I don't usually spend so much money without touching/feeling/trying the item out first-hand, and this was a sofa we are talking about....something you REALLY want to try before you buy! However, the more I read about them online the more I thought this might be great for us. I spent a lot of time on their website. Honestly, the website is not the best it could be......not super clear how many swatches you can order at once; no pictures of the storage ottoman when it was open; no clear view of how the sleeper sofas opened up. But I found their customer service to be really helpful (and prompt). In fact, Jeff (the owner, I think?!) wrote me back answering many of my questions, usually within a day. After months (like 6 months) of debating, we finally ordered a queen size sleeper sofa and storage ottoman from Simplicity Sofas in April, 2019. We wanted it in time for the 2019 winter holidays since we knew family were coming to stay. After I placed the order, I heard from Jeff that the mechanism to inflate the mattress in the sleeper sofa was backordered with no estimated ship date. He offered me another mattress mechanism, but I had read so much about the inflatable one that I didn't want to pass it up. I told him we would risk it, and just wait and see when the mechanism shipped to his factory. Lo and behold, months later (October) I got notice it would ship. We received the delivery, and the modular sofa EASILY fit up our tiny stairway. The "white glove" service that comes with the delivery (while no real white gloves are involved) had everything together in 15 min, and they allowed me to check everything (mattress inflated, etc.) before they removed all the packing material. And I am left here with the BEST SOFA EVER. We went with the extra firm cushions, and it is soooooooo comfy. The fabric we chose it just like the swatch, and most notable is that both the sofa and ottoman are SOLID. This is furniture that will last us for decades. Every positive word I read previously about this furniture was true. Thank you, Simplicity Sofa, for creating such solid, clever, and attractive furniture, and thank you Jeff for being so helpful and patient throughout our whole furniture purchasing odyssey. I recently moved into an apartment in a 200 year old home with a killer narrow and winding staircase. No clearance! I'm remodeling the apartment and wanted a decent couch. The sofa and chair and half I bought from Simplicity went up no problem. Whew! They went together with ease and I love them! They are comfortable, sturdy, and beautiful. My boyfriend actually said I'm "brilliant" solely for having found Simplicity Sofa. ;-) We're remodeling the kitchen next, if only they made refrigerators...... Seriously though, in this day when dealing with corporate structures all the time and customer service amounts to yada, yada... it's refreshing to come across a company like this that truly makes a quality product and gives excellent customer service with a personal touch. Sofa is ok ( not the most comfortable piece of furniture in the world, but you get what you pay for), but the process of having it made and delivered was incredibly aggravating. The person I was directed to deal with--who identified himself as head of the company--kept pushing back estimated delivery dates, making promises it turned out that he knew he couldn't keep, while holding onto my full payment for months. Once I finally contested the charge with my credit card company, the person really in charge of things at Simplicity (i.e., not the man I'd been dealing with since the start) came out of the woodwork and belatedly took charge, but even so, there were delays. Yes, I failed on my due diligence, but I would never work with this disorganized company again. read more

Amazing sofa! Jeff is top-notch and bends over backwards to make himself available to customers at seemingly all hours of the day, and answers questions with extreme thoroughness. The value of this sofa is insane. The solid oak construction is purported to last 50 years, and the 2.5" Density Ultracel foam cushion I selected is very comfortable and slated to last for 10 years (as is the particular fabric I selected). Definitely order some fabric samples - I thought some looked a lot better in person than they did online. Every aspect of the sofa is built with purpose. There was an obsessive amount of love and detail poured into its design and construction. It's a cinch to assemble, and meticulously and methodically packed. As an added bonus, it's easy to get replacement parts if it ever breaks (which I can only imagine happening during a move and not day-to-day use - the build quality is exceptional). Freight shipping is difficult to track compared to Amazon, and a bit of a hassle. I recommend budgeting an extra hour on both ends of the delivery window - my delivery got here 20 minutes early and told me they sometimes move on if customers don't pick up. However, that's not a reflection on Simplicity Sofa and is to be expected with any freight delivery service. I'll absolutely order another sofa if I have the need, and will be recommending them to friends and family. read more

This allows customers to move them into rooms which are only accessible through narrow doorways or staircases. Quality of Product: I can say with confidence that this sofa looks and feels like a first-rate sofa. It is an engineering marvel. Even if the sofa was just a regular sofa which could not be disassembled, I would say it is still worth every penny. It does not in any way look or feel like a modular sofa designed for convenience--it feels like a nice sofa. In fact, no one who has seen it had any idea that the sofa can be disassembled. I purchased the full-sized Brandon sofa with custom black, cotton fabric and I have received numerous compliments from people who have seen and sat on the sofa. Simplicity Sofas claim that their cushions should last 20 years. I have only had my sofa a few months, so I cannot speak to this. However, the warranties they offer for their sofa speak to the confidence they have in their product. They even offer to replace the cushion filling if you are unsatisfied with the firmness of the product they built for you. I have had the sofa for a few months now and had the chance to break it in, and it is firm but comfortable. I am quite pleased. I was slightly reluctant to order a sofa which I had not tried out on a display floor, but my gamble paid off. And as mentioned, they offer to switch the cushion filling for free if you are not happy with the firmness level. Jeff was able to explain the differences between the three types he offers, and I selected the right one on the first try. Customer Service: Here is where I can say this company is like no other--unsurpassed customer service. I can say with confidence that I was truly surprised by the distance that this company goes to ensure its customers are happy and satisfied. I have recommended this sofa enthusiastically to friends. I had many questions and requirements for a sofa. I emailed back and forth with Jeff many times with a series questions, and he always responded promptly--usually within hours--with honest and detailed answers. I don't think most companies would have the patience to answer customers like myself who had so many questions. It is clear that Jeff loves his business, and it is a labor of love for him. When I could not find a fabric which I liked from the available selections, he located what I wanted. He priced several different options from fabrics which needed to be custom-ordered. Overall, I had a positive experience with Simplicity Sofas. At first, there was an issue with delivery and I e-mailed the company to understand the situation. After e-mailing with Martha, she was able to provide great customer service to me and help me to receive my sofa on time for family members visiting. I purchased a Brandon sofa for my home office and could not be more thrilled with the quality and look. I went with leather and it looks awesome. My old couch was too big to get up the stairwell to my new office. Assembly was simple. The couch came in two large boxes and I took out of the box downstairs so I could move it up myself in pieces. The sofa is extremely well made, looks great, great fabric...I am so completely satisfied with this purchase. This is a really nice sofa (definitely get the throw pillows). I did so much research on buying a sofa because I've read horror stories. This is a great company - from my first phone call with Jeff, to my many phone calls with Martha to actual delivery this is has been the best customer experience I have ever had with any company. Quality product, good price, great customer service. I stumbled across Simplicity Sofas on the Internet and the more I read, the more I wanted to buy my sofa from these folks. This company makes sofas and chairs which arrive disassembled and take all of ten minutes to assemble. I love my sofa. It's comfortable and the quality is great. It's also make in the USA. But what really blew me away was the customer service. My emailed questions were always answered in great depth and quickly, sometimes by the owner and once on a Sunday morning. I can't tell you how much in love I am with my sofa from Simplicity Sofas!! I got the Brandon full size with the Horizon Oat fabric and I as soon as I sat down on it, I knew I was hooked. It is so comfortable! It's firm and soft at the same time. I was very apprehensive about buying furniture, sight unseen, online. From the minute I ordered swatches to when the sofa was delivered and put together my experience with Simplicity Sofas has been nothing but exceptional!! Every time I had a question or concern, someone got back with me immediately and was so helpful. The first time I left a message, the president of the company called me PERSONALLY and helped me. That doesn't happen in today's world. The sofa really was as easy to put together as they show in the video. Because of physical limitations on my part, I opted for the White Glove service which was worth every penny! The delivery man was courteous and very professional.
