What I enjoy most about the accounting firm is that they cater to a variety of my business and personal needs and have dealt with my tax return over time which has become increasingly complicated. I've come to rely on their honest feedback and ability to solve problems quickly for me. They are very welcoming firm that understand its customer's demographics and have added English, Arabic, Chaldean, and Spanish speaking team members to cater to the people of El Cajon. Personally, I've worked with Sarmad who is my fathers and my business account manager. Sarmad patiently deals with frantic phone calls regarding a range of issues for our businesses. I've never heard Sarmad say "no" with whatever request we have. He promptly returns phone calls and ensures are quarterly filings are accurate. I've also had the privilege to work with Muna and Michael the other experienced business account managers. Eventually, you will meet Nairy who is the tax-preparer/payroll specialist who is dependable and detail oriented. Finally, the team can't function without an enrolled agent, Sandy is the glue that binds these individuals and elevates the firms experience and knowledge. Overall, I'm confident that you feel and find that this firm is the hidden tax treasure in El Cajon.

I have a few businesses and it took 4 CPAs to find the right one and when you know, you know. Even when my businesses weren't doing as well and I couldn't afford monthly services, I was pleased and relieved by his approach to still answer my questions and do screen shares with me when I needed assistance when I am technically only paying at the end of the year to file my taxes. He doesn't feel like other CPAs I have worked with where you can tell it's all about the paycheck for them. You can tell he genuinely cares and wants to help. I originally found Darryl Hale on Yelp and had him prepare our taxes the last couple of years…read morewithout issue. This year Darryl reached out directly offering tax planning services. After paying the $2,500 assessment fee Darryl recommended two tax strategies, both of which raised significant concerns: 1) GFX Trading - a complex Series LLC foreign currency structure. This strategy was presented as a way to generate large tax deductions through foreign currency trading. When I asked for written explanations of how the strategy worked, what the economic substance was, and how it would hold up under IRS scrutiny, the answers were incomplete and at times inaccurate. When I declined to proceed, he called me immediately, insisting "everyone is doing this," and became defensive. I later understood that his affiliated company receives commissions from this arrangement, which was not disclosed before he recommended it. 2) DNA Harmony - involving the purchase of gift certificates for Jazz Band Splash red-light therapy. This was presented as a deductible expense through a separate Series LLC structure. Again, I requested information in writing about the IRS basis for deducting these types of purchases, but the responses did not address compliance, valuation, or audit exposure. When I decided not to move forward with either strategy based on the lack of clear documentation and concerns about risk, I requested a refund of my $2,500 fee. The request was denied. My experience did not meet the level of professionalism I expect from a tax advisor. I would not return nor recommend Darryl Hale and will be filing a complaint with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility and notifying the California Franchise Tax Board.

We didn't need her to do bookkeeping as we did our own but so she could familiarize herself with our company. We weren't going to do my taxes until I received all my 1099's to make sure all the numbers were correct. When I did receive all 1099's I noticed on a reconciliation file from paypal that they were double reporting me and I sent her the files to look at to confirm my suspicions. At first she didn't understand, then I sent another file and a detailed response to her voice mail and another detailed response to her email stating she would just do my tax returns and that's it. By now this is the 3rd day and several hours wasted on trying to get an answer about what I was seeing. I'd been trying to get a confirmation of what I was seeing and she still had not answered my simple question of, were they double reporting some income. She stated that she was too busy to look at the stuff as she was in full swing and didn't have the "bandwidth" to field my questions. One. Simple. Question. I found that when I did talk on the phone she was somewhat rude when she was challenged. As in how dare I tell her she might be doing something wrong. But in the end she never did answer my questions and with all the emails sent back and forth it was very apparent that she had never really looked at the files I sent her otherwise she could have just answered my 1 simple question. You are supposed to be my "tax professional" yet couldn't take the time to answer my question. we are PAYING for YOUR SERVICE, you should answer the questions of the customer who would be paying you, thankfully we didn't go with her. I also had asked for a quote which I got initially and when asked her again a month later to make sure I had the numbers right she had raised her quote by 250$ more than the initial quote and I had to call her on that. We decided that it was best not to work with her and did find a tax professional who spent 30 minutes with me initially, answered my questions and then called me back 5 days later to ask me more questions to clarify things on the returns and books I sent him to familiarize him with my business. A true Professional. Took the time to talk, and answer my questions and then ask more. Even though he was in "Full Swing" of tax season. I can't really recommend this person.
