We ordered a glass of wine and were told the business was under new ownership and the new owner didn't have his TACB license yet. I mentioned to the waitress (her 1st day) that we could byob. She and another waitress who'd been there for a while both told us that we could not byob. They stated they could be shut down if someone brought their own wine into the establishment. I'm pretty sure that's not correct, but we didn't argue with them. We had the spagetti and meat sauce and lobster stuffed ravioli. Both were okay, but not excellent. Also, he asked for Italian dressing for his salad only to be told they didn't have Italian dressing. How can you call yourself an Italian Restaurant and not have Italian dressing? My Cesar salad was a lettuce and tomato salad with mozzarella cheese. The only thing that separated it from a house salad was the dressing. If we go again, I think we'll maybe try the pizza. There are several good reviews on their pizza, buy they were all posted before the change in ownership. I wish Bay City had a Pappadeux"s

Veal should be overly tender and it wasn't. It had a lot of gristle and I've never tasted Marsala wine like this. It was more of a brown gravy and several of the mushrooms were shriveled up. If this was the actual special of the day you'd think there would be fresh condiments. Lastly I don't understand why I get charged extra for using my Debit card. It's like cash and not a credit. I questioned my financial institution and they were in agreement. I guess I'll just stick to pizza when I go there. They definitely have that going for them.

But then I ate the fried chicken...SO FREAKING WORTH IT. And the jalapeño hush puppies...I don't even like hush puppies but I will be thinking about those hush puppies until we go back. All of the staff was great, I would not have ordered the hush puppies if the guy behind the counter didn't tell me to. Don't let the tackle shop vibe steer you away from the food, it is 1000% as great as their tackle selection. 10/10

What a fantastic stop in Cuero! From the moment I sat down, everything felt warm and welcoming. The…read moremeal started with fresh, hot garlic rolls -- perfectly soft and flavorful, and with butter already on the table it was so easy to enjoy them right away. A simple tossed salad followed, crisp and refreshing, just the right lead-in for the main event. And oh, that main course! I ordered the Veal Marsala with veggies, and it was absolutely outstanding -- rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Each bite had me smiling, and it was the kind of dish that makes you want to slow down and savor it. The staff here deserves their own round of applause. My server was attentive and kind, and when it came time to pay, the lady at the counter was so friendly it felt like leaving a friend's house after dinner. This little gem has won me over completely. When I pass through Cuero again, there's no question -- I'll be back at La Bella Tavola without a doubt.

To say I was disappointed by my meal here would be an understatement. I had wanted to try La Bella…read moreTavola for several years and finally did this evening. I imagined on Valentine's Day that the atmosphere would be more pleasant but it was completely lifeless inside. There was no music playing and practically no one speaking to each other, making it quite awkward for my friends and I. We started with a very underwhelming Caesar salad, to say it was average would be a lie. We then bit into very obviously frozen mozeralla sticks with no flavor and a rubbery texture. Our pasta dishes were painfully plain, with the lasagna not even being layered, sauce that had no flavor, and an overwhelming amount of rubbery cheese. I understand this is a small town and suppliers likely don't provide the best options. However, I was actually angry when I ordered FOCACCIA and received a French roll cut down the middle and covered in more rubbery cheese. I suppose whoever made the menu has just never had focaccia anywhere else and assumed it means cheesy bread in Italian. Not to mention my server tried to charge me twice for it. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Cuero do yourself a favor and go to Whataburger, Taqueria Jalisco, or pick up a frozen lasagna from HEB if you are really craving Italian. Quite frankly this was the worst italian food I've ever had, I'm sorry to say.

I understand holiday weekends are busy and places can be short staffed, but when you know you're going to be slammed, employees should be prepared to handle it professionally instead of taking their frustration out on paying customers.
