Unbelievable. I have never dealt with such complete incompetence in a medical facility. Got the runaround about preauthorization- was told my appointment was canceled due to no response from my insurance company. After an hour and a half on the phone with the company, I have the authorization in my hand that was sent to Simon Med 4 days prior. Ridiculous. But in confirming the test ordered with my doctor, Simon Med requested authorization FOR THE WRONG TEST!!!! Avoid at all costs, ask your physician to send you elsewhere. read more

If I could leave a negative star, I would leave a -5! This is the worst place and medical company we've ever dealt with. If you have the option - please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! The only reason we came here is because the doctor's office chose it. We had everything filled out prior to the appointment and my husband was called back on time BUT it went seriously downhill from there. He is a big man and the tech literally had him squeezed in so tight into the MRI machine then left the room when he became agitated and claustrophobic. He's had a couple before and NEVER had this kind of reaction or been treated this badly by the supposedly trained staff! He had to literally YELL and kick his feet and she said "you have to be in there for 15 minutes so you need to calm down" which just pissed him off even more! There was ZERO compassion! Isn't that why someone goes into the medical field? Unfortunately, he was so upset and traumatized that he didn't get her name. When she finally pulled him out, he needed help to get off the table due to the back injury which was the reason for the MRI in the first place, and she couldn't be bothered and just told him to use the railing on the side. This is the second attempt at getting the MRI because the corporate side of this company completely dropped the ball with getting the insurance authorization completed (their fault, not the insurance company's) so when he went in for the first time at another of their locations (the one at 4045 E Bell), the useless receptionist just said that since they didn't have the auth we could do self-pay! I have no idea how much that would have been but no, the auth was sent. They were incompetent and her attitude was terrible. No way could she have cared any less. So we had to reschedule at this Paradise Valley location. Shockingly, they were able to get the Xrays completed. There were at least 4 other patients while I waited for him who were complaining that they had been waiting for well over an hour for their appointments and again, the attitude from the staff was pathetic. Instead of realizing my husband could not fit into their machine and showing some compassion for the claustrophobic reaction, he got bad and pissy attitudes. Well, to say the least he doesn't take that kind of treatment well AT ALL. Now, we have to try a THIRD location out in Scottsdale in a week because they have an "open" MRI which apparently is a larger machine for people like him. This backs off the further treatment plan with the spinal doctor and delays any further medical help he may require. Thanks a lot, Simon Med (extreme sarcasm). Had a 7am appt, they sent an email changing it to 7:05, then they called and changed it to 7:10. I showed up at 7am and was told that the tech wouldn't be in until 7:30am and that I had to wait. At 8am, I reminded the lady at the front desk that I was still there and had no update. She said the tech still hadn't arrived. They sent me 4 emails before the appointment reminding me about it. This is one of the most unorganized business I have ever dealt with. My doctor ordered an expedited MRI and I scheduled an appointment. The day before the appt, I got a text to confirm. I started to do the check-in and it wouldn't let me. Then I get a text saying they canceled the appt with zero explanation. I called and they said my insurance wouldn't pay and I stated I would be cash pay. They said they still canceled my original appt, but rescheduled me for the same day. Then the whole process started again--they canceled the second appt. Called again and got sent to four different departments, ending with them hanging up on me. I called my doctor and they contacted SimonMed and got me scheduled again. Someone called me to confirm it and the woman was very rude to me, as if I was a bother for wanting a confirmation. Finally got the appt and checked in online. They tell me to show up 15 mins early. I show up and they tell me they are running 40 mins behind. Front desk tells me I can reschedule if I want. The whole point of the "expedited" appt was so that my doctor has my imaging results before I see him. Who runs a business this way? I have spent likely around 4-5 hours on the phone with representatives over the course of over a month to schedule an appointment. At this time I haven't even walked in and the process has been ridiculously confusing and unhelpful. I have been told numerous pieces of contradictory information on call after call after call. First the insurance didn't approve so I had to get another order. Got another order and then got approved and they called me to schedule. When I called me to schedule they said I had been denied and that I had to do a walk in x ray first and cancelled my appointment. Next call, they say I DO have an appointment still which means I cannot do a walk in. She admitted even that the rep told me the complete wrong information. I know most people who need imaging are forced to go here so just know that you need to prepare to need immense amounts of patience to deal with these schedulers. After spending a full 39 minutes to schedule an appointment with the office on east bell road I scheduled an appointment for July 23rd. The person scheduling the appointment was nice but extremely difficult to understand, very inexperienced and had no perception of distance and locations in the valley. I received a call from that office 30 minutes prior to the appointment. They informed me they were running over an hour and a half behind. I rescheduled an appointment for the following day and preceded to wait over an hour and 15 minutes. The staff was friendly however the management is lacking. Was scheduled to have an important pre-operation cardio test. 5 minutes before the fasting prep test, these clowns called and said that their facility was capable of doing the test. Rescheduled a week later. The morning of the test, I get a text stating I needed to call and reschedule. That rescheduler stated that Medicare would not cover the cost and if I still wanted it, it would be almost $500. I called the cardiologist and they stated that was amazingly stupid and incorrect. Rescheduled the test a third time driving 45 minutes to get there only to be told the technician said that they could not do the test. A simple x-ray for which you can't make an appointment. The website when we arrived showed only one person waiting for an x-ray. It was supposed to be a forty-five minute wait as told to us when we checked in. We watched every single person before us and those that came in after us, all get called back. They had appointments. Okay, but we were told we couldn't make an appointment. We get stuck just waiting for them to find time to fit us in. After an hour and fifteen minutes, we were told it would be five more minutes. That was a lie. After another thirty minutes, we asked for a refund. While we waited for a refund to be processed, my husband was called back. The next time the doctor has an order, we will be requesting that it isn't with SimonMed. There are other places in the valley to have imaging done. read more

I don't really understand how this place works. I come in before the time says closed for an X-ray only to hear the X-ray tech left early. So the manager then decides she would set an appt for me the next day...which required me to reset my work schedule. Only to show up for my appt on time to find I have to wait. For an additional 20 mins. I don't want to go too much more because it's get more strange thru the rest of the time I was there. My recommendation...go somewhere else. read more

Went in for an MRI February 2023. When I received the report, the records wrongly stated I presented with an inguinal hernia on my left side. The hernia is on my RIGHT side - I have never had one on my left side! I called the office (Bell Rd) when I saw the error and asked that the record be corrected. "I'm sorry, but you will have to talk with your doctor about that. We can't change it." Huh?? SimonMed did the MRI. SimonMed misdiagnosed the hernia location. SimonMed should fix THEIR error. I spoke with my doctor. "What? I can't do anything about that. Talk with SimonMed. They're the ones who did the MRI." It's now February 2025. I received a new bill last week from SimonMed, TWO YEARS after the MRI was done, asking for more money. I received a bill last year for TEN TIMES the amount of this current bill. I called SimonMed and spoke with a representative who told me to "ignore that bill." So I did. Then I received a new bill last week. I would like SimonMed to correct there error before I give them another dime. read more

I am not one to call out a business without first offering the opportunity to make things right, but SimonMed Imaging, you leave me no choice. My sister, who has been sick for some time, tried to get a chest x-ray at THREE DIFFRRENT LOCATIONS today. She was referred to the first two offices by Simon Med staff, and the third was found through Simon Med's x-ray wait time website. Because it was later in the day for the third attempt and she was 30 mins away, I called the number listed on that location's website (480-584-5525). I was told by someone named Kim that she would be able to receive services if she arrived by 4:30 PM. Well, she arrived around 4:15 and was turned away AGAIN. She has almost no voice right now, but pleaded her case and told them I that I had called ahead. Service was refused once more and the staff said they received no calls. So much for the "patient-focused" staff and services touted on their website. The fact that a person cannot schedule an x-ray tells me that my time is not respected. I imagine there are people out there trying to coordinate bus schedules or even rides with family or friends who hate not knowing if they will actually receive care when they arrive. On top of that, most people who require Imaging are already not feeling great. And, if a patient calls to verify availability, he or she should get an accurate answer. I am a retired RN, and believe this is no way to treat human beings in the healthcare system. read more

I have tried to get a CT prior to my scheduled surgery. They called and said I had a $103 copay which I know was wrong since I had met my out of pocket max earlier in the year. I called and checked that that was correct with my insurance. I asked for something I could send to SimonMed and was told that all they had to do was call and they would verify the information. I rescheduled my exam to all them to do that. I called before my second scheduled appointment and got the same response from SimonMed. I again asked them to verify the copay and rescheduled the appointment. Before my next appointment I was now told the copay was double-$206. I again asked for them to verify the copay and they said they would put a note in the chart that I had no copay and I would be good to go for the appointment. Well you guessed it. I arrive, was told I needed to pay the $206 or not have the test. They said they reverified while I waited but got the same response since the office was closed. I am not sure how they stay in business. Their front/back office staff are incompetent and unhelpful. I wasted my time trying to work with them on resolving the issue. I know if I paid any money, it would be a terrible battle to try to get my money back. Go anywhere but here. read more

Me and my husband we had horrible experience as he was schedule for MRI today 2-14 however first they making wait an hour even though he had an appointment then we went in the lady told him (did you prep. for this MRI?) he said what prep. no one told me I need to prep. even when they text him all the information! I asked for Oct 14... oh that's not available... excuse me I am looking straight at the opening... didn't have a clue as to how to schedule. I scheduled it myself. Then today, scan is tomorrow, get a call CT scan equipment is not working and she goes on to tell me it's the 4th time it isn't operable .. so I said.. perhaps that is something you should have kept to yourself! I scheduled a simple CAT scan at the Tatum office, but four days before my appointment, they canceled and rescheduled it for two weeks later at the Paradise Valley office, despite my flexibility with location and dates. The staff informed me the results would be ready in seven days, which typically takes two days with SMIL. After waiting, my doctor called for the results, and Simond said it would take an additional seven days. From the original appointment call to receiving the anticipated CAT results, it adds up to six weeks! I will never do this again. I strongly recommend SMIL, which has always provided appointments within five days and results in three days. read more

I arrived at 6:45am and the receptionist didn't open the door until 7:05 and didn't have the computers up to check in patients until 7:10am. I truly hate this place. Unfortunately SMIL no longer accepts insurance so I had to go get my ultrasound and mammo done through SimonMed. They've asked me for previous images to compare to which I've delivered but the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at SimonMed and no one has done the comparison a month later which is causing me a lot of anxiety especially after having had breast cancer. After being canceled twice by other SimonMed locations, we get into the Paradise Valley location for my mom's MRI. We arrive 30 minutes early and find there was some concern about the contrast dye. After their doctor talks to mom's doctor they come up with a plan. The lady at the desk says we missed our appointment since it is now 15 minutes passed our scheduled time. Are you kidding me??? They tell us we will need to reschedule. At this point they have our money and we have no test. We call to see about a refund but the call center billing says we have to talk to the location. A waste of 3 hours over 3 days I still can't get a person to answer the phone at the location and I'm put in an eternal loop. I'm so confused by this location. I've been to other Simon Meds and none operate this way. This is my third attempt at an appointment here. I won't even go into detail about why the first two appointments didn't work. Each time I've had to wait in line 25+ minutes. How, in this day and age does it take that long to check in one patient? They already had all my information, but needed it AGAIN. Then want me to fill out a form with my patient info when they clearly already have it (I've received countless texts and emails about my appointment). Please avoid this location. I've been to the Simon Med near Thompson Peak Hospital and Desert Ridge and my experience was completely opposite. The staff at this location are exceptional. As a frequent patient, the treat me good. However, the wait times for results is ridiculous. I had a DEXA bone density exam. A very simple set of imaging. When asking when the results would be ready, I was told next week. One full week to approve and release results generated instantly by a computer. SMIL gets almost all imaginable results same day. Why then does it take SimonMed a week? I'm never happy with the extended wait for reports. I never learn! UPDATE! Customer Service responded with a very positive experience. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I had an appointment for 11am which I was told to show up 15 minutes early for. I showed up 20 minutes early and was not seen until about 2 hours and 45 minutes after I checked in. The women at the front desk were unable to say why the wait was so long or give me any idea of how much longer I would have to wait. The employee giving the scan was inappropriate in that they overshared their personal problems they were having, and made me feel very uncomfortable. I tried to get an x-ray at this location three different times. The business model is they don't schedule x-rays. It is walk-in only. That's the worst customer forward model there is. You simply have to take your change you won't wait 2 hours. The machine was either down or the the technician was a no-show. When I tried to see if other locations were available, I was told their machines were all being serviced. I was first scheduled for last Friday at 9AM, only to then receive a call the machine was down. I appreciated the call, even though it was just before the appt. We rescheduled for Monday, so I go in and am advised there is no tech. So we rescheduled to Tuesday. They call and say there is no tech available. I ended up finding a space at the Desert Ridge location and waited 2 hours there. They are simply the worst at getting an x-ray. I would never recommend them. I used them for many years, but the Paradise Valley office has turned me off from ever using them again. read more

Never again. I have been to this facility a few times. This last time was the worst. My appointment was at 7:00am. i arrived early, because they sent me a message asking me to. However, the office was locked. At about 6:58am an employee tears into the parking lot. I went to the door and she let me in. It took a while for her to get it together, then she says I have a $480 copay. I know my copay is $100. I told her and she said her computer said $480. There was absolutely no attempt to contact my insurance or do anything. What a waste of time. I was tired so I did not feel the need to fight, I left. I checked my insurance and I was right. I tried calling but I was sent all over the world, then told to go back to the office and settle it there. As if I have the time! This was horrible!!! I called my insurance and asked if there was another approved facility. I will never go to this sad little place again. What a waste of time and resources. read more

Needed X-rays for my mother for her hip replacement and the online web portal said Patients Waiting = Facility Closed had to drive around to 2 other locations for x-rays because again their online portal said closed. Drive to one about 20 mins away their Patients Waiting = Come in - 0 waiting. Get there and a note on the door says No x-rays today, I wanted to scream note said go to Biltmore, Fashion Square or Desert Ridge. Drive another 15 mins again with a mother who has a hip fracture to get to that office only to be told Fashion Square is open. 1 Fix your damn portal to be accurate, 2. have a direct number and not some call center as I tried calling before going to the locations only to get a generic call center queue. She was rude when I entered - never greeted me - she was talking to someone for over 10 minutes, trying to reschedule them and never asked me why I was there and when I informed her that I checked in online, she said that is useless and I don't know why they're even sending you that information. This imaging center doesn't even deserve a single star rating. I had a chest x-ray taken on a Wednesday afternoon and my doctor still didn't have the results on the following Monday. I made serveral phone calls, put on hold and disconnected twice. Made another call and was told that a follow-up for results would be sent and it would take several more days, which means it will take over a week to know results. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! read more
