Dr. Firer is an excellent dentist: gentle, great work, nice man. 5 stars. We like him.
Sadly, we are going to change dentists, not because of Dr. Firer, but the frustration we endure to schedule xrays, check-up and cleaning. The office is not able to schedule 6 months out for a next check up and cleaning when the patient has finished a check-up and cleaning. The patient must call months after an office visit to schedule another check-up appointment. Ex: I was there early in January 2014, but couldn't schedule a 6-month checkup for November 2014 unless I called back in April - they couldn't schedule out that far (?). If you miss the call-them-back "cut off date", it is many months to get an appointment - far beyond the recommended 6 months. We have gone as long as 15 months between check-ups and have never had the recommended twice-a-year cleaning.
And God help you if you have to cancel and re-schedule a cleaning. Example: called 2 weeks in advance to re-schedule a November 2014 appointment which we have had since April (made the cut-off date this time!). Next available: March 2015. A few days or weeks, ok, but 5 months? We are always on time for appointments, pay our bills, and keep our appointments. But, things come up in life, and we hate to re-schedule & seldom do, knowing the consequences, but this time it couldn't be avoided.
This has been an ongoing problem since we have been going to this office. I have heard them say they need to add another hygienist - the current one is part-time I believe - so they are aware, no need to mention it again, which we have done.
To be fair, if there is an emergency or we feel we need to see Dr. Firer, we get in fairly quickly. The office staff is nice, and seem to be doing their best, but some changes need to be made or they are going to lose more patients. Early on, I recommended Dr. Firer to friends, but they too were frustrated with the scheduling and moved on.
I almost never post a review, and I hate to post this one. But, if you go to Dr. Firer, be aware of this problem. Hope they get it straightened out.
We will miss Dr. Firer. read more
