I kept remembering my preferences while we were in the process of booking and I really appreciate him. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would…read more I have been a patient here for some time, and the way this billing situation has been handled is absolutely unacceptable. On 8/26, I was required to pay $911.31 upfront for testing. I later discovered they billed my insurance only $720, with my responsibility listed as $302.82, leaving an overpayment of $608.49. I sent messages through the patient portal on 9/9 and again on 9/16 asking for clarification. As of 9/29, NEITHER message has received a response. When I finally called Billing on 9/18, I was told the $608.49 would be refunded. It wasn't. When I called again on 9/28 to find out where my refund was, I was told it had been DENIED because of a "visit" on 9/28. I DID NOT HAVE A VISIT ON 9/28. Then the explanation changed--they are holding my money because additional claims may be submitted to insurance. I have already met my deductible and am nearly at my out-of-pocket maximum. They have no idea what I will actually owe until insurance processes those claims and issues the EOBs. My request could not be simpler: Give me back my $608.49. Submit the claims to insurance. When the EOBs come back, bill me for whatever I legitimately owe. Instead, I have dealt with unanswered messages, multiple phone calls, a promised refund that was later denied without anyone notifying me, being denied access to a supervisor, and then finally reaching a supervisor on 9/29 only to have my refund denied again. I am a patient, not a bank, and I am not interested in providing an interest-free loan for 30-45 days while you wait for insurance claims to process. You required payment from me immediately, and I paid it in good faith. I expect the same urgency when you owe me money. The medical care may be one part of the patient experience, but billing, communication, transparency, and how you treat patients when there is a problem are part of it too. I should not have to fight this hard to get my own money back.

I was upset yet, after countless hours on the phone trying to prove these charges were erroneous, my credit card company ended up refunding me. A month or so later, I received a call from Courtney Hubscher, Groundworks owner. The company finally owned the mistake saying my credit card had been linked to another patient's account. So yes, this was finally resolved but not without a huge months-long hassle and hit to my credit score. I have been asked by the owner to remove this review. I choose not to as I think consumers have a right to know my experience and to take caution when choosing a therapy group.

I was having a mental health crisis, so I had a phone consultation with 'La Amistad'. They had no beds and suggested I go to a South Orlando facility for 2 days instead. Mind you, I never said that I wanted to harm myself, or others. I disconnected with them. Orange County Police Department was deployed, to my work, as I was working my shift to be 'voluntary' Baker Acted. That meant being put in handcuffs in the back of an OPD SUV. My advice...THIS PLACE JUST WANTS YOUR INSURANCE. And they'll put you someplace until they can get it. I highly recommend another facility.

I felt heard, supported, and well cared for while I attended the program. As someone who had never explored their mental health prior to attending, I don't have much to compare...however, I can say with complete confidence that I am healing and in a much better place after the program. The therapists, psychiatrists, and even nurses helped me to understand and grow through the grief and anxiety that I was battling. I now have an entire binder of resources and feel well educated in understanding brain science and responses to trauma. I will forever be grateful to La Amistad for providing me a safe place to heal and grow.
