I used to make fun of Planet Fitness. Skip ahead to the last paragraph for more on that. So Planet Fitness. I signed up online because as stated above I decided to move to the Arctic. Planet Fitness has several benefits that other local gyms did not. 1) My adorable chubby teenager can come with me free. 2) It's like $23 for the black card and that allows me a hydromassage every day - and trust me. It's amazing...and a couple minutes of tanning. I'm trying to synthesize my vitamin D as much as possible while being safe and not trying my skin, so I try to keep it to like 5 minutes a couple times a week. The gym: staff. I usually go in the mornings and the staff is generally pretty great. The reason I'm docking one star is that the dark haired guy behind the counter acts like everything in the world bothers him. Do not get it confused with the manager I think, who has red hair and is an absolute joy every single day. The younger female that always wears her mask is always pleasant. The newer employee who is also female (I think...please do not @ me if I'm not using proper pronouns) with gray hair and a braid...I'm putting her up there with the dark haired bad day guy. She's just not very pleasant but that's okay. Do you boo! The equipment: Lacking squat racks and barbells. Because it's Planet Fitness. I used to be a pretty big power lifter. I used to make fun of Planet Fitness because of the pizza, lunk alarm, lack of equipment etc. You know what? I've humbled myself. I can get a killer workout in and enjoy it in a nice clean gym. Yes, it's a womens-only gym but don't let that be misconstrued as a place for "weak" people. They do a fantastic job at getting people started and offer many ways to step up your game. You also get a sense of community through classes, newsletters, charity, and activities. I'd give a 2 or 3 stars if I were basing my rating solely on what I want in a gym but I'm going to give 4 stars because I think it would work out very well for a lot of people, it was well kept and clean, they really care about people (not "just business"), and members seem really happy there. :) P. S. Although I didn't stick around, I thought I'd add that the cancelation process was easy. I just gave my month's notice and had no extra payments coming out. Hassle-free, I like that.

Depending on the class, you may be using some of their props: bosu balls, bender balls, weighted bars, yoga mats, foam rollers, hand weights, yoga blocks, hoops, etc. The private training room additionally has TRX equipment, kettle bells, and more. The classes are taught from a very positive mindset. The space is large, new, and climate controlled with walls of windows to let in natural light. Everything offered is priced affordably and the class packages are tracked through the MindBody app and never expire. In 2025/2026 new managers took over in this gym has really turned around. They have started adding new equipment and updating things and keeping the place clean. They are also friendly and there is a general sense of community here. The pricing is affordable and they have a tanning bed. There is also a vending machine with drinks and shakes for purchase. Bathrooms are always clean and parking is easy. They also manage the temperature of the gym well so it's consistent through the seasons.

Love FitStop 24! It's a newer gym in Jenison, buying out the previous Fitness 19 and faking a lot…read moreof their equipment (and moving locations across the street a bit). It has some upgrades from Fitness 19 though, including turf, which has been great. It's a "smaller" gym and doesn't have all the fancy amenities of something like a Planet Fitness, but it's constantly improving. Most notably, it doesn't currently have showers, which might be a deal breaker for some, but it does have lockers (bring your own lock) and rooms to change. When you first walk in, on your left you'll find cardio machines, including bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, elliptical, and stair climbers. There are also some weight machine, which you'll also find in the first section to your right, as well as a couple of cables machines and a mirror. The next little section has benches and a smith machine, plus free weights and a mirror. (One thing you won't find at Planet Fitness that we have- free weights past 60 lbs!!!! lol) The next area is the turf room, which has squat racks and another cable machine. The crowd that's there really depends on the time of day- until about 3, it's relatively empty, and a lot of the people who are there are in the older crowd. After 3, you start getting more of the typical gym bros and high schoolers, and it can get a little busy, but after 7ish it tends to die down a bit. The only qualm I really have with this gym is it's 24 hour, so you have to use your keycard to get in- and the scanner is FINNICKY. If it's not full sunshine, you're going to need to use your flashlight to have enough light for the scanner to actually read it. The good news is, if you can't get, usually someone will help you get in. (And it is really nice that it's 24 hours!)

Like OBVIOUSLY it's my very first time here. There are multiple floors and rooms to this place so I was pretty shocked when I asked where everything was that nobody offered me a tour. He just said "the locker room is downstairs" okay bro. Whatever. Needless to say that the indifference was noted and I'll be bringing it back to my work peers. Just because we get a corporate discount doesn't mean it's worth using. They have a great variety of equipment and different rooms, classes, etc but they have no interest in customer service. Last opinion recommendation by site and Corp was to write a letter, enveloped and stamped to post office which of course they could not confirm received. This facility is HUGE and usually has the latest equipment like the new Rogue Echo Bikes. CFF hosts several events so they've really have the system down pat! So it's a good experience for both spectators & participants. They also have an awesome "snack bar" for sale - from FitAids to Perfect Bars to Mush to O2!
