They were incredibly generous with their portions, especially with the poutine bowl which was loaded up with so much chicken and cheese that there was more than enough in every single bite. The goat, lamb, and oxtail were absolutely out of this world, flavorful, tender, and perfectly executed. Huge shoutout to the bartender as well, as he clearly knows exactly what he is doing and crafts excellent drinks. Unfortunately, the table service was subpar and dragged the experience down. Our server was highly inattentive, left us waiting for long stretches, and never introduced herself. She also missed the opportunity to see if we wanted another round of drinks once dinner arrived. Most disappointing of all, they completely looked past the note on our reservation about celebrating my mother's birthday. Go for the incredible food, but the front of house service needs a lot of work.

The pre fixe menu for the MTLatable had a lot of options and we were glad most of the options were gluten free. I had the Conch Gratin which was good but was a huge portion so more bread would have been needed as I didn't want to eat it right off of the spoon. My friend got the jerk shrimp which were very fishy smelling and tasing and just alright. Our entrees were the star of the night - the Grilled Fish and the Vegan Curry. For the dessert the server recommended the Pina Colada which was tasty but basically coconut ice cream with a pineapple. The service was very slow despite it not being very busy on the snowy night. We had to flag down a server just to order drinks after waiting for a while. There was a large birthday party - they were the only other clients - and they seemed to be taking all the time and attention of the staff.

The month i went, December, gave me a choice of a soup, an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The soup was delicious: Lightly spiced and warming for the weather outside. Same with the fish. I wish I got more of these. For my meat entree, I chose the guinea fowl as my entree. I was disappointed in this one because it was dry. Sorta like chicken, but all the way from New Zealand. Service was exceptional. The restaurant was dark, and the couches looked comfortable. I just wish I got a seat on one of the couches.

Both layered with much flavor and delicious to look at and to eat. Our entrees were fresh fish in a broth with cassava gnocchi and goat covered with the best pastry I have ever eaten. The server explained every dish and poured a delectable light sauce over the pastry. A truly amazing experience

We didn't have a reservation but the sweet man who greeted us found us a table very fast. This is a family owned business and you can tell how much pride and love they put into it. Both of the owners explained all the dishes to us and were so helpful in making our decisions. We started with the lemonade which is house made by their own mother every day. It had a different type of sweetness to it, almost like it was made with honey instead of sugar but I really enjoyed it. We also got the Trio of Salads which were so good! A few of them were a bit spicy but nothing we couldn't handle. They also kept the bread coming which I never hate! We also split the Tuna Brik and it was amazing! For our mains we had the Honey Lamb which was covered in pistachios. The lamb fell right of the bone and was so tender. We also tried the Ojja which is more of an elevated Shakshuka - dipping the bread in the sauce was a highlight at the end. Overall, this was such a unique meal with wonderful flavors. The owners service was the true stand out of this meal. They really do provide a wonderful experience for all of their guests.

I tried a couple of homemade drinks which are hibiscus and ginger drinks. The hibiscus has this punch flavor which is a bit sour. The ginger is pretty strong in flavor with a milky flavor. The portions are so massive that it's one of those rare occasions where I would actually recommend they give less food. It's just too much. Mind you, we were travelling back home the next day so ordered quite a bit. But even one dish each would have been a lot. I don't understand how one could live or be near Montreal and not stop what they are doing and come here for lunch / dinner. This must be a top 100 restaurant in Canada. How could it not be ?
