The tasting room itself is stunning, with soaring 40-foot ceilings arching over a central fountain--worth a visit just for the architecture. Flights are $10, and our host was especially generous, letting us try a few wines not listed on the menu. The wines were enjoyable, and the prices refreshingly reasonable compared to many other wineries these days.

When we arrived the lone worker was obviously busy and we were disturbing her. When I said I wanted to do a wine tasting she quickly set up the glasses, quickly put the small amounts of wine in each glass, handed me a list of the wines and walked away. No information, no history of the company, no tales of the land (and isn't that why we visit these places?). About 3 tastes in she asked "how is that?" That was it. I told my husband, even before I'd tasted them all, that there was no way I'd buy any of this wine, no matter how good it was, because the service was dismal. Though the grounds and building are beautiful I was so disappointed. I do not think we will stop here again. We love to go to tasting rooms and get educated and always come away having learned something as well as having a lovely time. Not so at Barra. The service certainly needs work.

Testa was recommended to me by one of the wonderful servers at Patrona in Ukiah. She told me that I had to come here for a tasting before I left the area, and I did. And damn, am I happy that I did! This was my favorite tasting experience while out in the Ukiah area. What I loved about the tasting room here is that it's quaint, intimate, and super relaxing. No big crowds that you have to push through to make your way to the tasting room. It's quiet, peaceful, and the views are just astounding. And it's doesn't hurt that their estate is so damn adorable! The entire setup is truly darling! There's a beautiful covered deck with the most comfortable sofas! It reveals the most majestic views of their pond, garden, and vineyards. They have several shaded picnic tables and a rocking chair. You can walk around the premises and get lost in all of the beauty that surrounds it. I was literally falling asleep on the couch while I sat out on the deck and tasted. Yep, that's how comfortable I was! Their wines are very tasty as well! They make a variety of whites and reds and have won many awards for their delicious creations. They have their award-winning wines and ribbons posted on the wall of their indoor tasting area. A tasting consists of 5 of their wines. I'm not sure what the cost is for a tasting, but the tasting fee is waived with the purchase of a bottle and their prices are really reasonable. I really enjoyed their "Black" red blend the most and ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. A fun fact about this wine: it was created by their own members at a winemaker's party that they had at the winery. I couldn't believe that the members actually put together such a good blend, but it's amazing! You can fish in the pond for free if you're member! Another interesting fact is that they only use 10% of the wine that they produce. The other 90% is outsourced to other wineries! Now, that's how you KNOW that it's good! Saving the best for last of course. The main reason why I enjoyed tasting here so much was because of JENN!!! That lady is friggin' AMAZE BALLS, mmkay? So much personality and knowledge packed inside of that little body of hers! I honestly felt like I was hanging out with an old friend from high school. Her passion for wine is so undeniable. People like her are so rare to find these days. She is perfect at what she does and Testa is so lucky to have her there. I hope she stays at Testa for many years to come because I want her to be there when I come back again. Whew! I did it again! I done wrote up another novel, y'all! Went here during a wine/chocolate pairing. They advertised serving "finest selection of See's…read morechocolates", but was disappointed to find funky homemade "treats" instead. The wine was mediocre at best and served out of a dirty bottle. Had the feeling of a Bingo hall due to an abundance of seniors hanging out. The best part was their collection/museum. They have like 10 old trucks, and wagons, plus lots of other antiques. This is only reason to go there. There's better wine in the area..... Keep looking.

That said, the Merlot is quite drinkable and their very cheap [like $7] Chardonnay is fairly good. If you like Zin's, it is probably worth the effort to taste here when they are open.

September 12 & 13, 2025…read more Our stay at Mia Bea Wines through Harvest Hosts felt like a little slice of magic. The vines were still heavy with grapes, nearly ready for harvest, and the hills surrounding the vineyard made the whole scene picture-perfect. Lori greeted us with a warm smile and invited us to a private tasting on the outdoor patio. We lingered over great conversation and wine, feeling completely at ease. One of the sweetest surprises was the welcome sign with our names on it--a small gesture that made us feel truly at home. The wines themselves were delicious, and with such fair prices, we ended up buying a mixed case. This stop turned out to be one of those unexpected gems that make RV travel so memorable. If you're in the area, definitely give them a call and arrange a tasting--it's well worth your time.

That said... Make sure you have a map as it is a bit back from 101. They only make three wines, a Cab Sav, a Zin, and a Sav Blanc. Zins are generally lost on me so really don't feel that I can comment on it. The Cab Sav was good, but again that is something I don't drink as much. The Sav Blanc was rather nice and fairly cheap. As I find myself saying too often for this area, they probably ought to get a fourth star but I really need a way to distinguish them from the other ones in the area that I liked even more. Still, if you are going to be in the area you might want to see if you can do a tasting and/or try their wines if you see them at a tasting.
