On our very first tour/ site visit, we fell in love with this beautiful space and loved how it met all of our needs (i.e. outdoor, approx. 100 guests, and local etc), so we didn't even look at any other venues before deciding our venue. This is a very unique and beautiful hidden gem for an intimate wedding (accommodates up to 150 guests) that includes spaces for ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, and getting ready. You have to essentially rent or bring everything (including bathroom trailer) but that means you have a lot of flexibilities to customize what you like/ want. The owners Laurie and Laurie Ellen (and their in-house day-of planner Katie) are so sweet and helpful in making the planning process and our wedding day as stress free as possible. There's lots of parking and it's easy to find. We did a quick wine tasting and decided on Sauvignon Blanc bottle to drink while there. It was a hot day so it was nice to have a cold wine. They were very friendly and patient as we asked questions. We walked around and visited the various booths. We got some great pastries for later since we had a late lunch already schedule. Came here today on a whim after visiting the Modjeska House just down the street from this place…read more The gift shop was open and we ended up buying some soap, 2 finger puppets for the kids, and a ENC tucker magnet. The gift shop was a museum too and had lots of interactive exhibits for the kids. We saw live snakes and frogs on display as well. Across the street from the gift shop was the actual sanctuary which is a 0.25 mile loop - you can finish it within 10-15 minutes if you want fast. An amphitheater and bird viewing area is in there as well. The creek was dry when we went but did see a small pond with lots of tadpoles. Also be aware of rattlesnakes as we heard they come out in the summer time. Trail was 80% shaded so was not so hot. Found out that TUCKER was acquired by ENC of Newport Beach in 2022 so you'll see lots of ENC gear in the gift shop. There are essentially 2 ENC locations now - one here and one in Newport Beach. Pretty interesting!

When we entered the space, it felt like an open layout house. Fairly modern design. Useful space. Two restrooms for guests. There was a small connecting area with a fridge for storage. The next room over was perfect for a small play bouncer. No kitchen area. The catering company all had to set up outside in the already limited parking lot area. The pavement was in ruin. We needed a bilingual MC for our guests to translate between English and Cantonese and to keep the schedule moving- Manli did a great job managing the guests and maintaining a positive atmosphere. Music was an important aspect of our wedding and Michael met everything we wanted from our DJ. We incorporated many music moments in the timeline: the grand entrances, first dances, cake cutting, first and last song, cocktail hour, dinner, and dance party. He asked as about the vibes we were looking for, our favorite musical artists and genres, and our priorities. He really paid attention to what we liked, incorporating music from our curated playlists. Michael is truly an expert DJ! He created custom song mixes for us for our grand entrances and first dance. And the most important part, the dance party. The vibes were perfect. It was the perfect dance party experience, mixing in our musical tastes and keeping the party going for 2 hours. The dance mix was so smooth; it kept the dance floor alive throughout the entire reception!! We also worked with Manli as our bilingual (Mandarin + English) MC since we have some family members who only spoke Mandarin. Manli did an amazing job with introductions and guiding our guests throughout the schedule. Rather than use trained teachers, this organization used mostly students or graduate students interested in making a few dollars. Quality of instruction varies greatly due to this factor. Rote memorization seems to be what this organization seems to try to foster rather than true learning skills. Locations served once included the Upper Newport Bay Area. This may have been discontinued. Chaparral areas of South Orange County area are used, with participants asked to handle and identify flora and fauna. Fun? Perhaps.,Educational? Hmmm.

I enjoyed the experience here as you were set on your own to build their needed structures on your own with minimal assistance from the naturalists / staff. Inside the Outdoors provide and instruct K-6th graders with hands-on and social science during their field trips to the facility. The kids will learn about the local plants and wildlife. What if we could introduce children to the wildlife that we share the Earth with... What if we could share with a child the wonder of seeing a bug through a microscope... What if we could protect and preserve a wilderness area, so that children could visit the area to learn how important these places are... What if we could help every child in Southern California explore nature and learn about the environment... Well, when my day ended helping the naturalists and all future kids that will visit this site, made me feel good and I helped the future. Give your time, donations or even visit the facility for teaching the little ones.
