    Spur Burger w/Tots
    Jeff R.

I was out for an extended motorcycle trip and happened to be heading through Mt. Vernon around lunch time. Their sign caught my eye so I stopped in. I'll tell you straight off that it was a great move on my part. The friendly waitress (Michelle) was just great and the food was too. I had the Spur burger that is a basic cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, & onion. The patty was large and the veggies were all crisp and fresh. It was served on a very fresh and tasty rustic type bun. This is one of, if the not the best burger I've ever had. You can get fries, tots or a salad with the burger and I elected to have the tots. They serve a huge portion perfectly cooked with no grease residue at all. Again, the best I have had. To top things off I saw that they make their own pies. As it turns out my waitress makes them. My choice this day was chocolate cream and fresh raspberry. Although the chocolate cream pie is huge and looks great I go for the raspberry as I am already pretty full. It was delicious. Perfect homemade crust giving support to the amazing raspberry filling. It was sweetened just right. I'm going to say it again. The best I've had. It is a good thing I live pretty far from this establishment as things might get a bit out of control for me if it were closer. If you are ever in the area (within 100 miles) I would highly suggest stopping by. An amazing find.

A nice place for breakfast or lunch. Family run. Generous portions. If driving through Grant County, you could do worse. Last meal: I ordered a double burger and tots. The burger was at least five inches high. This place doesn't disappoint...

Needed a place to feed the kids and stopped in here. We were very surprised to find home cooked menu including breakfast all day and fresh baked pies. It's a small local type place but we were very pleased with our food and time spent.

I stopped here on a motorcycle ride and found that this place is one of the best kept secret in the area. They hand press there own HUGE hamburgers, as well as everything else the made, was mouth watering! The fish and chips were to die for!!!!!! They have a lot of room out on the back deck over looking the river, a must see!!!

This was the perfect stop for dinner after the final day of Cycle Oregon. The portions are more than generous! Even after riding 56 miles on our bikes today we had a hard time finishing our plates. The burgers are big 8 ounce patties. The tater tots and onion rings were excellent as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Eastern Oregon.

I started my day with the Eggs Benedict (English muffin, two poached eggs, and ham covered in hollandaise sauce and served with hash browns, $10.50). I don't usually order eggs benedict but on this particular rainy morning in John Day it was just what I needed. It filled me up for my entire 6 mile hike in the cold and snow. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was very fresh, definitely made that morning. I thought my English muffin was a little overheated, it was chewy in the edges but still edible. My hash browns could have used a couple more minutes on the grill but again, good enough to eat! My husband kept it simple by ordering f the Classic (two eggs cooked any style, served with choice of bacon, sausage, polish or turkey sausage, hash browns and toast, $11.00). He enjoyed his breakfast as well. Eggs were a little overcooked but nothing a little maple syrup couldn't fix! I loved the fact that he got 4 sausage links instead of the usual two that most cafes I've been to serve. Definitely a great value! My favorite thing about this little establishments is the vibe between the service and the regular patrons. Call me a creep, but I love to people watch and listen about what others are talking about. You can tell nearly everyone coming in is a regular by the conversations. I think that even though all these cafes are very similar, they all have their own personality that differentiates them from one another, and I'm totally here for it.

After checking out a few places online, we decided to head to Lattitude 45 Grille for dinner. Pulling up to the venue, you notice how updated and pretty the joint is. There are a couple tables outside and beautiful potted flowers in the front, it's quite welcoming. Walking in, we were instantly greeted. We got sat in a small room that had a couple tables. It was separated from the main dining area. I appreciate the room we were in cause it created more of a personnal environment for my friend and I. The room was bright and vibrant. I love the big windows, it gave us a great view. I did check out the menu online. I noticed they had lobster manicotti. I was sold! Pasta, lobster and sauce, you can't get better than that! We breezed through the menus again while our drinks were getting taken care of. As many times as I looked the menu over and over again, I couldn't find the lobster manicotti. The waitress confirmed that they didn't offer it anymore. Such a bummer cause it was the only thing that really caught my eye. For dinner I settled for the chicken fontana with the pesto sauce on the side. I also got alfredo as my side since it was an option. I like that they give you pasta options as a side besides your typical fries and salad. Our meals came out super hot. I got a beautiful piece of chicken and a nice portion of alfredo. I can tell the pasta was freshly made, I was pretty close to burning my mouth cause of hot it was. The sauce on the pasta was rich and creamy. I did add a little salt and pepper to it, it needed just a pinchmore salt. The chicken was flavorful! Whatever they used as a crust on the chicken, it was nice! I used some of the alfredo sauce to dip the chicken in. The chicken was good but it was also kinda dry and there wasn't much cheese in the middle. The alfredo sauce really was needed. Our sweet server got a piece of the peanut butter cheesecake for my friend's birthday. She also put a birthday candle on the cheesecake for her. Little gestures like that are the best. The cheesecake was delicious! It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. It had a good amount of chocolate on top. There were pieces roasted peanuts in the cheesecake that added a nice crunchy texture to it. It's a must have. Lattitude 45 was packed when we were leaving. Clearly they are doing something right. Service was great. The venue is beautiful. They produce good food. I'm happy we got to check this joint out and celebrate my friend's birthday here. I don't know when we will ever be back but if we are, we will definitely come back. And hopefully by then lobster manicotti will be on their menu!
