Nice showroom and seemingly nice guys. But that is where things stop. I was a contractor in Arizona…read morefor 24 years. Deposits were required, but usually around 30%. I was a little surprised that they require payment in full before the order is placed. Now I know why. They do not have their own install crews. They sub everything out and stand behind absolutely NOTHING! The LVT crew they hired got started and reached a point where they didn't know how to finish. The installer said he had to go to another job and would be back to finish in a few days. He demanded to be paid for the extras before he left. I called Knotty Alder and they said any extras must be paid. I told they weren't done yet and he hadn't finished the "extras" anyhow. Well, I paid him and the installer never came back. The company sent out a different guy who said they screwed everything up and the guy was a tile installer who had never done LVT before. Right after placing the order, we decided not to carpet an area in the basement. I called John and he said there were no refunds after the order was placed. I said I understand about the carpet, but the installer supplies the pad and they will not be doing the labor. He said we would have to see. They kept the extra padding and no refund on the labor, even after being charged several hundred for the LVT "extras" that were never even done (I ended up removing and installing the toilets myself even though I paid for that. John said it states in the contract that they don't do toilets. But the installer was fine to do it, but he took the money and never returned). After you pay them, they have you do all the calling and scheduling with the installer even though you have no contract with them. The installers drag out fixing the problems for months at a time and when they do come out, they normally say they don't have the materials or tools needed, or they need to get something through Knotty Alder. Knotty Alder will charge you for anything it takes to finish the job, even if it was supposed to be included and already paid for, When we couldn't get the installers back I texted pictures to John and asked if he could get someone out to finish. He would just ask for more pictures. After a year of this he told my wife "sorry, the warranty period has expired." So it appears that the strategy is to charge in full before placing an order, don't take any responsibility for their subs (they were not my subs), let the subs take advantage of their clients, do shoddy work, charge for extras they don't do, tell you to schedule everyone on your own and then after you can't get things resolved they say "too bad, your year is up!" We are still trying to get the installers to finish things and we have offered to pay them. Same results as before, wrong tool or don't have this or that... In some ways I think Knotty Alder has thrown the installers under the bus. We bought the very best LVT flooring they carry. Not only were there install issues, but the edges are delaminating and turning up. Knotty Alder has there money and they wash their hands of EVERYTHING. The installer didn't purchase the material, so it appears they have no leverage or support from the manufacturer. So we are stuck in the middle with no help or support from the only people we had a contract with and they take NO responsibility after the payment in full is made. In the end, I realize they have a nice showroom, but they are not the "nice guys" I thought. The way they have treated us is totally disgraceful and unethical. I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE based on our experience.

Michael came over and talked to us about our proposed project, which turned out to be a 14ft x 24ft Trex deck with a very creative and attractive stairway down to the ground level. Michael was more than fair with his project estimate and provided his ideas throughout the entire project. We were impressed with his integrity, attention to detail and completion of the project according to code and within budget. Michael is a licensed contractor and electrician. We were so impressed with his work that we asked him to also replace the master bedroom balcony with the same Trex material and railing and outdoor lighting. While the quality of the work was good, I was SHOCKED at the final price. The per hour rate charged is far higher than any other company I've used before. I would recommend looking elsewhere for handyman needs as the most basic of tasks will cost an arm and a leg. I found Anchor on Yelp, and based on the amazing reviews, called first thing in the morning. I was not dissappointed. Frank was out within the morning, assessing the damage and gave several options on the scale of diy to full service. He suggested just renting the fans and a dehumidifer, since I'd done most of the work with the carpet and padding. His rental prices were right on par with Home Depot (which I'd also called earlier) save for a small fee for setup/pickup. Which again...three kids. 100% worth it to not have to lug giant carpet fans and a dehumidifer up and down my stairs, and to and from HD. And even though I went the more diy route, Frank was so patient with all my questions about fixing our gutter drainage, foundation repairs, and replacing the carpet pad. Would 100% recommend Anchor. I hope to not need their services again, but if I do, I'd call them back in a heartbeat.
