I am always pleased as punch to stay here. Manitou Springs is a quaint town and I really love spending time exploring the area. The rooms are decent. The atmosphere beats most chain hotels hands down. They get the job done at the Silver Saddle. If one runs out of toilet tissue or towels, the staff is quick and happy to oblige. Ice machines and laundry facilities are available for extended stays. I wish they had more modern amenities in the rooms, such as televisions with HDMI inputs, so that peripheral devices packed in brought suitcases could add an extra bit of vidi entertainment alternatives than the free cable television. WiFi was adequate, although slow at times. Overall this place is great. Endeavor to stay here when in the area. You'll be glad you did.

I liked the sign, but this motel sucks.

It's a shame there isn't a negative star option, because this hotel deserves it. The good: the staff was really nice. This review is not a reflection on them. As always, we did a bedbug check and found evidence of bedbugs so we asked for another room. The second room passed our bedbug check. However, the floors were disgustingly dirty, so much that our feet got dirty just walking around the room. The bathroom had a significant amount of mold on the ceiling. There was a hole in the wall because the door didn't have a proper stopper to prevent the handle from penetrating the drywall. I was willing to suffer through all of that until morning, but the kicker was the ice-cold "heated" pool. After that, I was done. This place isn't as advertised, and I'm convinced the good reviews on here aren't legit. We ended up leaving and getting a refund. I paid $20 more at another hotel by the airport (20 minutes from this location), and ended up with a five-star experience there. It's really a shame. If some money and care went into cleaning this place up and making it super awesome with modern retro everything, it would be THE place to stay because of its location. If only I were king, I'd turn this thing into a retro paradise.

I will be recommending this place for sure. The pool was super clean as well as the rooms. The bathroom was super clean. They had a nice complimentary breakfast. This is a great place to bring your family.

What appears to be mold in the bathroom.

I chose The Villa based on the reviews here, and the fair price. I didn't want to pay $300 a night just for a one-night stay in the other more fancier places around Manitou as we were just crashing for a night (approx $105 a night off-season). PARKING: plentiful free parking during mid-March. ROOMS: The Villa Motel completely honored my request when I booked online directly with them (cheaper direct also). I asked for a corner room on the 2nd floor so it wouldn't be so noisy, and it wasn't at all. No elevators, be aware of that. If you don't want to lug your stuff upstairs, ask for bottom floor room. The rooms very large, even larger than our room at the La Quinta Inn in Glenwood Springs. The bed was comfy and just right for firmness. Everything was clean except I found a hair in my bed and there was a rolled-up ball of black hair in the bathroom but I was not grossed out by that since everything else was clean. Sheets smelled fresh and clean. Bathroom had nice amenities like make up wipe remover, bar soap and lotion, which was a very nice touch. The water controls were opposite for the HOT and COLD water, making it very difficult to figure out which way to turn the handles and even when getting the temp right, it would shift from hot to cold to freezing. I had to get out of the water stream every few minutes as it would go from scalding hot to freezing cold, until you manipulated the handles again. The water also backed up in the tub when we showered. The microwave and the sitting area is a nice touch, and the fridge. I am glad they have a safe. The last two hotels we went to did not have one (La Quinta Glenwood Springs, Drury in Westminster) A/C and heater worked very well, and quiet too. SERVICE: very nice people for check-in and check-out. Be aware the office opens at 7 AM, so if you have to be somewhere before that, talk to the office ahead of time to arrange something. We had to be in the town of Divide for our Alpha Wolf tour by 0745 and that was about 32 minutes away, so there was little wiggle-room for getting lost, etc. OTHER PERKS: coffee and continental breakfast in the office with some fresh whole fruits, pastries. The entire town of Manitou Springs is less than a 10-minute walk from The Villa, just take a left out of the driveway and keep walking. Laundromat a few feet away although I did see some washing/drying machines at The Villa. We did not use the pool in snowy March (closed). Manitou Incline views directly across the motel. RETURN FACTOR: a 100% YES. We love The Villa Motel. I also loved Manitou Springs and want to return again in the future. Keep small businesses in business! We love family-owned places and want to see them succeed, so give this place a try!

One of the few hotels in the area that doesn't charge you for self parking. Check in was a breeze my only complaint was that the entire lobby stunk of cigarettes. The free breakfast is your typical toast, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and waffle makers. For the price I would definitely stay again and the women working the front desk were exceptionally kind.

Absolutely but would I want the negative things to be done differently when I decide to come back ? Absolutely. Overall I give it 4 stars and not 3 because most of the negative things I experienced were bearable (I'm 1 traveller, I don't complain) and easily fixed and plus I got a good night's sleep away from home/work and could relax. My absolute must have change before I come back is that for $240 for just 2 nights I wish the fridge would have been cleaned out beforehand.

It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.
