We stayed at Silverlake Resort over Labor Day weekend, and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. We were told there was a burn ban at the resort, even though there wasn't one in the county. Every morning was damp and foggy, and a fire would have made the experience much more enjoyable. On top of that, we had family come out for the day to visit our campsite and were charged $10 per car and $10 per person. The campground wasn't even full, and our guests stayed only at our site--which we had already paid a premium for. The bees were also a major issue. My 2-year-old grandson was stung twice. The owner is very hands-on to the point of being unfriendly, and the overall feel was micromanaged rather than welcoming. For the amount they charge, the resort should be far nicer. It's run down, with obvious maintenance needed--especially on the dock. Between the costs, restrictions, and lack of upkeep, we won't be returning. read more

My family and I visited this establishment & we were all happy with the experience. We traveled out from Portland to escape the heat and rented a boat for the day. As PNW Natives we have an appreciation for the Outdoors and the adventures that the area provides. Silver Lake has beautiful views of both Mt St Helen's and Mt Rainier. It was our first time to Silver Lake, but certainly not the last. The staff is friendly and helped to contribute to an amazing day trip!! The staff / ownership is BIPOC Friendly. If I could give a ZERO I would! Do not go to this campground if you want to have a relaxing time. We were going to have our 14th annual family reunion and decided to try a lake campground instead of the beach. I personally call prior to book to confirm that a reunion would be ok, they seemed happy to have us. So we hurried up and spent thousands on Motels rooms, cabins, RV sites and tent sites. We also rented the peninsula area for $200 so we could hold our annual cornhole tournament and get a large group photo with the lake in the background. Two of our family members who coordinate things called the cam and even made the drive to visit in person. Red flag was they said we could only have the peninsula for half a day even though we paid for the entire day, they made it sound like renting this area was standard. After driving there they went with the original agreement of 9am to 10pm, however right after our cornhole tournament prior to the awards program they took down the sign and opened it to the public. Even though we had items there, and now have a missing bag of cornhole supplies. Upon arrival things changed, they were very very rude and hostile. Not welcoming and VERY VERY unhappy to have us. Sadly everyone arrived so happy only to feel treated poorly, being told we had to buy parking passes even though we rented sites. The entire time we were there the male owner trolled around very creepy shaking his head and approaching cars that had not even exited the vehicle saying you need to pay of get out. My grandson extended his hand to shake and introduce himself to try and make a peace offering and nothing but told he could not stay even though he had a spot. We asked multiple times about the proper swimming area after the kids were screamed at for swimming off the docks like they said too. The docks are in severe disrepair and a huge liability so I asked if there was another spot at the "resort" for swimming she said yeah 6 miles down the road at the river! I then ask her not to scream anymore and let us know if we have an issue, they kids were very excited to swim it was hot. She gets in a kayak and hovers around the kids making it unsafe to swim. They have boats for rent however the pontoons are not sea worthy and extremely old with only a lawn chair on them. The cabin we rented was supposed to be right next to the water but had a view of overgrown bushed then a barricade saying no water access due to erosion. The other spot was so over grown you could not even go down the stair. We had a view of the parking lot and motel. Inside the cabin was dirty and VERY old the furniture is so old and dirty you can not sit on it. I honestly thing we could of put up with the dirty rooms and stuff but they were so rude and lurking near us at all times. During our cornhole tournament the man just shook his head and mocked us, talking about us to his helper who sits and smokes non stop in the public area. Last but not least we get charged additional $80 for extra cleaning!! Cleaning the fire pits, they have a burn ban we did not even use them. We took pictures before we left because we knew something was going to happen. AVOID this dump, its over priced and very creepy and in disrepair. One bathroom for the entire "resort". Too bad that people like this are in business. What's worse is these people are teachers! Also no ADA assessable bathrooms or public areas. read more

WORST STAY EVER.. NEVER AGAIN!! We hosted our 13th annual family reunion at this resort with over 80 family member attendees.. We had thought that this was going to be such a great experience being that I had went out previously to check out the area and introduce myself to the owner Ember and gave her insight on how many members were going to be staying and attending and our activities and plans during our stay. She was completely on board and even offered additional tables for the our family if needed for our activities (which never were offered). Upon check in I wasn't even greeted, at the counter stood a male owner who was very unwelcoming and irritated (Ember's husband). Although we had gotten off to a rough start I was optimistic that our stay was going to be enjoyable. However, our family was treated very poorly by the owners and staff! During our entire stay our kids were yelled at from day 1, they were also restricted from swimming a few times and other family members with fur babies were being hawked as their fur babies weren't welcomed. During all of our gatherings & activities onsite the owners would walk by continuously as if we were doing something wrong giving us no space to enjoy ourselves cuz if they weren't on one family group they were on another!! I know that we were adhering to ALL of the guidelines and rules so this was unacceptable.. ALL family members were threatened that if we did not have parking tickets on our vehicles that they would be towed although we rented various tent sites, RV sites, cabins and hotel rooms. These passes were difficult to obtain because their office closes at 6 PM with no way to check in after that time until 9AM the next morning. Over all the experience at this resort was very upsetting and disappointing, especially because we had various family members visiting from out of the state and we had invested so much money and in return we were treated so horribly.. My husband and I have been going to Silver Lake Resort since 2007, We go multiple times a year and we always bring other families with us who rent their own spaces too. This year we have been to Silver Lake Resort 3 times. Over the years we have been so much we got to know the owners and the camp hosts as well as the employees. Each time SLR got new owners it has been fine even when the new owners change things and tightened up the rules no biggie because they were still family friendly and very good with letting their employees do their jobs. The new owners came, and we have been multiple times since and have been patient with the changes and due to the same employees being there we continued to come. This most recent stay this weekend has made it so we no longer want to come back, and we will be staying at Silver Cove or Streeters from now on. The owners are very nit picky they are really up in your business and trying to micromanage you before giving anyone a chance to do things properly on their own. The owners also will see parents watching their children at the park (all the RV spots and some cabins you can very easily watch the park from) and the adult owners would go up to the minor children (ages 3 to 10) and speak to them instead of talking to the parents who are right near the park that they even looked at and letting the parents handle it. There were also autistic kids there and the owners were really on them about playing and how they were playing on the equipment, that mind you this equipment is well over 20+ years old, no updates have been made to any of it and it has held up just fine. It is clear the new owners do not want children staying in their resort. They seem like a bed n breakfast would be more to their style of managing. As far as the employees, they are wonderful, some had been there before the new owners and they are absolutely fantastic. Excellent customer service skills from them and zero customer service skills from the owners. I was not even given my keys when I checked in and the information the owner gave me didn't even match up with my last booking that I had done when we checked in with the employee 2 months ago. The owner didn't know what she was doing when it came to checking people in and telling them information and she should let the employees handle check ins because they have done it for years and do amazing at it. Customers aren't the only people the owner's nit pic at. They even nit pic the employees, we overheard employees getting in trouble for doing their jobs. And it was clear the employees aren't treated the greatest just like the customers. We heard customers one by one being asked to check in when they had been staying already for the weekend. Never in the 20+ years of going there has the camp host or employees ever not known who was staying there. The owners live on site in what used to be the motel suite (my husband and I have stayed 3 times in that room many years ago when it was rentable) so they are always watching and always micromanaging. The owners before them also lived on site in that same space and they just worked the property they did maintenance they fixed it they built things they cleaned they left customers alone and trusted their camp host and manager to do their jobs which they did. The owner also made mention of not letting our dog into the lake due to the algae that was present, however there were no signs up saying no swimming for any kids. Again, not kid friendly. There is no parking along the fence which I have known for many years, and we saw some people parked there and those people were talked to immediately but there is a local who will come there every day and park on that fence, and no one says anything to them. Even if they are parked there all day. People who had been staying the weekend were told to check in before walking onto the dock yet this local can come and launch and hang out all day every day and doesn't have to check in. Simple fixes for the playground, put up a sign that says no kids over the age of 10, or take the playground out completely since the owners don't want kids having fun. My family is really disappointing in how SLR has come to be and are sad for the employees because again they are amazing! They know what they are doing, and they know the regulars and they ask the right things like checking in if our stay was good or not and remember us from previous times. They offered us extra pillows without us asking for them and offered us extra blankets which we didn't need but they anticipated our needs. If you want friendly owners who are family oriented, then check out Streeters. They make you feel welcomed unlike the owners of SLR who do not make you feel welcomed they make you feel like you have to watch your back and walk on pins and needles. We will be telling all our families and all the big fishing people we know and have them all go somewhere else. read more

This was the perfect place to stay for visiting Mount St. Helens. We stayed at the "motel" part of the resort. It was very quiet and beautiful. We liked having the balcony on the lake to look out at sunrise/sunset and the volcano. We were there when it was not very full, but it worked out really well as a base camp for heading out to explorer different parts of the area surrounding the volcano. Stayed in Cabin 7 for one night with a Groupon. The price seems high for the rustic nature of the cabins. Having heat, a full kitchen and tiny bathroom was nice. My complaints stem from how small upgrades could make this place more worth it. Better carpets, upgrade the shower head, don't expect guests do dishes. Also maybe finding a better system to keep track guests, cars, instead of having guests wear bracelets and placing paper on their dash. Staff were ok but not over friendly. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for simple cabins for a short stay then this is your place. I was here for a 2 night stay during the cold windy fall days. Would prefer if I came back when it was more hot to enjoy the water activities they offer here like kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, and fishing. You don't need to stay overnight to fish, you can pay $5 for a daily pass. We stayed in cabin #11. There were 2 beds, couch, tv, bathroom, kitchen. Rooms were a bit outdated. I could have sunk into the couch, who knows how long the furniture has been in use. Wifi was spotty so don't count on doing any work here. There is a fireplace and communal bbq grill for everyone to use. We were missing basic necessities like sponge, paper napkins, and dish soap. I had to ask the front desk staff for these items. They were all friendly! No stores nearby so be prepared. We did find a shell gas station that also sold tacos lol. It was $260 for 2 nights so not bad price but you get what you get. read more

TLDR: If you can embrace your inner country fisherman, give it a shot. It's charming because it is authentic and very no-nonsense. It was Friday, July 4th and a wrench was thrown into our existing plans. I was really hoping to get out of the city for the weekend. Was it possible to throw something together at the last minute? Everything was booked. Cabins, hotels, camping spots, AirBnBs. My expectation was now a Motel 8 off of I5... Then I came across the Silver Lake Resort. Of their RV sites, Cabins, and Motel rooms there was one motel room left, booked it. The room: Best part is the balcony that sits over the lake and to the far left is a view of Mt. St. Helens. Full kitchen, bedroom, living room with another bed and pull out sofa. Smelled like an antique shop and the decor was awful, but it was clean and everything worked. Wifi was unreliable and we had no service on Verizon, spotty on AT&T. It kind of felt like camping. The walls are thin and everyone keeps their balcony doors open. There are LOTS of bugs (lake is a bit swampy) and spiders that eat the bugs on the balcony, so be prepared for that. The property: This is a fishing motel. Everyone is finishing - off of their balconies,the dock, the water's edge, and boats. You can rent fishing boats, canoes, kayaks, etc from the property at reasonable rates. There are lots of children. The RV spaces are really jammed in there, but the people staying didn't seem to mind. This is not an escape frequented by people from the city. It's not a place where you complain when your neighbor smokes cigarettes on their balcony, scoff at the hairstyle that hasn't changed since 1982, or call the front desk when you find a glass wasn't properly cleaned. Location: We spent the day exploring Mt. St. Helens. The drive East from the Motel towards St. Helens is beautiful. There are multiple hikes of varying lengths, helicopter tours of the crater (~ 200/person but if you can swing it, unforgettable experience), lakes, information centers, etc. Amazing. Of the 20 odd years of living in the area, I had never been to St. Helens. Recommend it, charming little weekend out of the city. I would stay at the Silver Lake Resort again, but my boyfriend who is a bit more city than I am wouldn't. read more

Going to get this review in while the getting is good& fresh in my mind. So overall the place is a GREAT place if you are truly trying to just fish, boat and fall of the grid. They do have WIFI but it is horrible! The person who mentioned about there being no coverage you were spot on. We have both AT&T and Verizon, which neither worked. Granted, love getting off the grid every once in a while but when there is work to be done. NO bueno! Need the internet and some cell service. What if, god forbid something happened and I needed to make a call. We had an RV spot, and yes they are kind of tight. Be forewarned you will get a email the day of your arrival stating to have your holding tank empty and no chemicals are to be in the tank to empty out because of the fragile septic system. While I understand that, the note itself seemed a little gestapo like. You also needed to wear these arm band things the entire time of your stay, which I also thought was a bit crazy. We have been doing the RV thing for awhile and this drove me a little crazy. I was thinking we were all adults here. Maybe I am wrong? I really liked the set up of the place and staff was very friendly, no one was ever rude. We were by the camp host who was super nice and helpful. Until they improve the Wifi here, we cannot stay here again unless we are truly trying to get away. If that is what you're aiming for, then you got it covered. Sorry but both my husband and I work from the road often and need the connection. Not happening. I also want be able to look up stuff in the area which we could not do. After reading a mixed set of reviews about Silver Lake Resort, my family and I were a little hesitant to check in but at first glance it seemed o.k. We checked into our room at the "resort" (which in actuality is a dated motel room that overlooks the lake). As we surveyed the room we noticed that the couch was shabby and frayed, and the carpet very worn. It looks to have been last updated sometime in the late 80's or early 90's. After a long drive, we decided to make the best of it and settled in. We noticed other reviews had mentioned being upcharged and various nickel and diming that they experienced here. Because of this, and also because our family prides itself on leaving our rooms in pristine condition upon checkout, we thoroughly cleaned the room, leaving only our bath towels in the tub for housekeeping. We checked out, I obtained a receipt with the charges for the room for 2 nights plus tax. Almost 48 hours later, "Robin", the lady from the front desk sent an email at around 9 p.m. declaring that our credit card was charged that evening for $50 for excess cleaning charges! She claimed that we had left specks of blood on the shower curtain and bed sheets. I promptly emailed her back denying any such thing as we had thoroughly cleaned the room and asked her why she would email me almost 2 days after we checked out with this issue? I also informed her that we would be disputing the charge with my card company. "Robin" fired back another email with 2 pics of a comforter that was beige with a small red speck on it. The funny thing is the comforter in our room was blue! Luckily I took my own pics of the room before checkout as I always do to send to my card company. Long story short: avoid this place if you don't want to end up with miscellaneous bogus charges on your card a few days after checkout! After reading through the reviews I see that others have had similar unprofessional and deragatory experiences with this same lady "Robin." Extremely poor customer service and management. read more

As a place for rvs, travel trailers, and tents. Family friendly with open area and access for boating, kayaks, and swimming off docks. Quiet for rvs, tents are too close to road lights, they have planted trees for protection that need time to mature for car headlights and road noise. Easy access for kayaking and fishing. I only wish more than 5 sights had full hook ups for a trailer. 40 miles from Mt. St. Helen's, and great location for kayaking. They have boat and kayak rentals( check for hours). Prefer the location over the state park nearby. You have to know the site you choose how much sun it gets and amenities. It's quiet and private which makes it better than the state park nearby. It's ideal for small families and couples that have rvs and trailers. If you want peaceful, check it out. read more

We LOVED our stay in Cabin 7 at the Silver Lake Resort! We only stayed one night, but wish would could've stayed longer and will definitely go back. The staff was friendly and we were there on October 1st so it was very quiet. The cabin was rustic but perfect for 2 people and a Golden Retriever. Our cabin overlooked the lake which was great. The service was friendly and all was ready and waiting for us when coming to rent a platform boat for the second time.

I'll start off with the (very little) good about this place; It's in a beautiful setting, with a great view of Mt. St. Helens and Silver Lake, so there's that. I chose this location for it's proximity to Mt. St. Helens. The intent was to hang out for a few hours, get a good nights sleep and head home after a long 2 week road trip... we stayed a total of about 10 minutes. After check in, me walked over to our "cabin" (number 8), and were greeted with a lovely tyvek vapor barrier covered shanty... no siding on the exterior. I gulped, unlocked the door, and walked in to our "cabin". Now, I want to make it clear; I am not a picky or pretentious person by any stretch, and I know what the term "rustic" means. While it was clear that someone had cleaned this unit as best they could, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. The furnishing in this unit weren't "rustic". It was dated, worn out cheap furniture that should have been taken to the dump 20 years ago, and that's being generous. The ancient sofa (which was oddly placed in the middle of the kitchen area) had an old, nasty cover on it that I wouldn't have let my dog sit on. I pressed down on one of the beds and the mattress sank halfway to the floor, and the box spring squeaked so bad I thought I'd stepped on a cat. That was it... we're out. The lady at the front desk was busy checking in more victims, so I put the keys in the drop and we headed out. I called about and hour later, after we had found a place to stay that didn't make me dry heave. Although the man I talked to on the phone seemed reasonably nice and apologetic, all he wanted to do was tell me about one of the other cabins that he had spent a lot time and money renovating, and how nice it was. After explaining to him that the condition of any of the units other than the one that we were supposed to stay was completely irrelevant to me, and that I felt that I was entitled to a full refund, or a least the rent less my deposit. He made it clear that wasn't going to happen. This really didn't surprise me; anyone willing to rent out a "cabin" in this shape will likely not have the decency to refund anyone that doesn't like it. Fair enough. On my end I'll say what I think, and do everything I can to dissuade anyone else from making the same mistake I did. I'm also disputing the charges to my card. It's a shame. This could be a really, really nice place... but it isn't. read more

Do you crave the challenge of maneuvering to park your RV or launching your fishing boat in 1/4 the room as humanly possible? If you answered yes to any of the above, Silver Lake Resort is the luxurious "RESORT" for you!! You'll love arriving at the resort to find your spot occupied by another guest. Your kids will cheer in glee each and every time they are stung by hornets as they attempt save their dinner from the thousands of bees roaming the grounds. Your party will be spared the eye sore of nature, instead they can gaze upon the vast beauty that resembles an American trailer park. You'll applaud every time a Frisbee, hacky sack, ladder golf bolo, or cornhole beanbag is skillfully tossed off target and hits you in the head. Do you like to fish? Grab a pole and stand on the dock next to 40 other people fighting for the few fish that dare to go near the marina. Honestly you'd be better off camping at a rest stop than wasting your time here. It's a real shame as Silver Lake Resort does have a lot of amenities to offer. However it's all crammed into 1/10th the space it should, and the facilities & grounds could use a lot more care and maintenance. If for some reason you are stuck going here, I would recommend you do not waste your time using their tiny boat launch. Very tight spaces, very old and weathered, could use a deep cleaning all around and maintained...RV sites are touch and go, lots of folks were having issues trying to park rigs bigger than 20 feet, ours is ok, our friends is dismal...tucked away in a corner behind a old shed...definitely could use a upgrade all the way around! Came in a bit early didn't want to let us set up but we chatted with them and finally they relented wo charging us $25, no one was in our spot and within a half hour everyone was pouring in early...real close to the lake which is the benefit when state parks are full...I would NOT stay in a cabin, they appear very sketchy... read more

I wish I could rate this place at lower than a 1. My husband and I stayed in motel room 6 with a Living Social offer. READ ALL THE REVIEWS! I missed in the description that this place was rustic. That is an understatement!!! Don't stay during warm weather...NO AIR CONDITIONING in the hotel rooms. There is only a patio door and front door for cross ventilation and the fan in our room didn't oscillate. The stand was actually broken. We had trouble directing the fan toward us to offer some cooling relief. Kids splashing in the water eliminated the possibility of fishing from our deck, which was covered in bird droppings. There is no ice machine available. You have to buy ice from the hotel office. There was only one ice tray in the refrigerator provided. All the dishes you use have to be hand washed before you leave, otherwise there's an extra charge. Words to describe this place: rustic...primitive...uncomfortable. It is not a RESORT by any stretch of your imagination. It should be renamed Silver Lake Fish Camp! read more

I really enjoyed my time here. Early Xmas eve morning our family was trying to get away for a couple of days. We saw this place on Living Social and we were able to book 2 nights. I was even able to upgrade to the suite last minute (only reason was bcuz the cabins and other rooms do not have a fireplace). It's not a luxurious resort, it's very dated, decor is old fashion, but the views are beautiful!!! read more

I have stayed at this motel at least 15 times in the last 10 years. I've always stayed in the motel & never camped so this is for the motel only. I fish. This is a fishing resort. It is absolutely PERFECT!! The motel rooms all have a balcony over the water so you can fish right from your room. You can actually catch fish right there too. Trout, crappie, bass (lake is renowned for bass), perch, bluegill & carp. There's also a nice size dock for fishing that is lit at night. The rooms are perfect for a fishing resort. For the people complaining about the decor, all I can say is "are you serious?" It's very cozy & has all the amenities you need. Could the carpet use cleaning? Well, yea. It's a fishing resort. The staff has always been extremely friendly & accommodating. The one time I had a problem with the stove being broke & burning up my dinner, when I informed them, they replaced the stove in the unit, apologized profusely & gave me a decent discount on my next visit. What more could be done. The staff is 2000% more friendly & helpful than the people at the cove resort down the road. I'll continue to give them my consumer dollars based on their fair treatment of me & my family. read more

Maybe the worst private campground I've tried to stay. I say 'tried' because the following issues drove us out to find other lodging: cramped sites inches from your neighbor, live-in RV situations not conducive to a family vibe, management that will nickel and dime you to death, and an overall sense that they don't care one bit whether you enjoy yourself. Warning, my friend & I stayed here in our rv's Sept 29-Oct 2 & initially everything seemed wonderful. Had a view of the lake & docks, boats, etc. So my friend & I just hung out after driving for several hours. There were some people next to my friend & while they were talking kind of loud, we didn't think much of it & they weren't bothering us. But as the evening wore on, the booze came out & they got even louder. Still wasn't much of an issue, but past dark it continued & I am an early to bed, early to rise kind of person, my friend stays up later than I do. Anyway it did continue until 10 pm, the parks "quiet" time. So next day my friend & I take off for sightseeing & had a great day, upon returning, more people had showed up at the sight next to my friend (keep in mind this is a small rv park) so with more people, more noise! I did go down to the office to complain about the noise & was assured that this would be dealt with. Next night Major party, drinking, drunks walking through OUR camp, this time it continued past 10 pm. So next morning my friend & I leave for more sight seeing for the day & low & behold when we get back MORE party people had showed up. Like what the heck, obviously nothing had been said to anyone about the noise, drinking, profanity. Yet another person walked through our camp! They kept leaving the women's bathroom open for their friends to use & I suspect at least 1 male had used the ladies room as there was urine on the floor & it looked like someone had vomited in the shower & in the sink, disgusting! So party time continued for the 3 nights we were there & the last party lasted until after 1:30, I know the time because I had to take my dog out to go potty. This would have been a perfect spot except for the parties & the lack of management responding to this. They affected EVERYONE in the whole park. If there were anyone to talk to, I would like to get my money back, because while these people were having fun they were doing so at our expense! read more

I as looking for a fun, affordable place to stay while my two young children (4 & 8) and I explored the Mt St. Helens region. This place worked out great! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our cabin was cute and well stocked. We had our own fire pit to roast over, as well as the community fire pit in the lawn area overlooking the lake. I needed to extend my stay for one more night. Our cabin had been booked, so I needed to move to one of the motel rooms for the night. One of the staff helped me move my things, I was so impressed. The room was not as cute as the cabin and did not have a fire pit, but was right on the water. The kids loved that there were plenty of other children to play with. There are ducks to feed, a playground, a cute little play cabin, boats to rent and of course fishing. There are a couple spots the kids could get into the water, both are rocky, but they did not mind at all. The convenience store was just that. The location was conducive to our vacation schedule. Yes, it is a little dated and musty. But for the price, and being a more seasonal lodging facility, I was not expecting "luxurious" accommodations while exploring the mountain. read more
