The fact that Dr. Silver has a yelp page is a testament to how amazing he is! I broke my tibial plateau in February and after seeing 3 different doctors (plus 8 hours in the ER) and getting very different diagnosis's , i decided enough was enough. Dr. Silver took one look at my x-rays and knew exactly what was wrong. An MRI was required to see if i tore my ACL, but luckily i didn't. 2 Weeks later i was in surgery. Dr. Silver is one of the most caring, compassionate, gentle, and kind Dr.'s I have ever seen. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy who actually took the time to get to know me (and my family in the hospital!!!). He even had one of his friends at the hospital keep an extra eye on me while i was there, which really meant a lot. He forms personal relationships his patients, and really goes the extra mile. His PA is great also! If you want a REAL diagnosis with a guy who will take the time to figure out what is best for you, there is not a better Ortho Surgeon to go to. If i ever need another ortho surgery (and let's hope i dont) he will be the first call i make. read more

Dr. Silver did a total knee replacement on my right knee in 2013. After a year of physical therapy and constant pain/swelling, but assurances from Dr. Silver that "it takes a year, sweetheart", I asked him why my lower leg now juts out at an angle, my right hip, ankle and lower back are all always painful when walking, and my new knee less able to bear weight and walk around than my old one. Dr. Silver said my X-ray looked fine, to "be grateful for every step you can walk" and told me we were done. It's now been two years of hobbling on this screwed-up knee, and I am going in on November 11 for a revision because, according to two other orthopedists, the lower component of the implant was stuck on at a peculiar angle and must be replaced. I suggest you avoid this doctor as you would the plague. He was arrogant, careless, and, (certainly less important but no less irritating), he never called me by name, just "sweetheart" and "darling". My primary care doc's office said that they will no longer refer patients to him. I think that's pretty telling. read more

Today, I found myself lamenting the fact that I couldn't find any reviews for a new medical provider I plan to see. Then I realized that I don't write reviews for doctors either. Yep, living in a glass house. I have been a patient of Dr. Silver since I was a teenager and needed a major knee surgery. Fast forward 25+ years and I have had eight orthopedic surgeries with Dr. Silver and will be having my knee replaced by him within the next year. I should note here that I am personally responsible for all of the injuries I have caused to my body and Dr. Silver is merely the superhero who has been able to put Humpty Dumpty back together time and time again. There are a lot of other orthopedic surgeons out there - Dr. Silver even encouraged me to see one touted as 'the best' before my last knee surgery ('he who shall remain nameless' gave me the same diagnosis/plan of action + a heavy dose of his enormous ego) - and I learned what I already knew - no ortho can be compared to Dr. Silver. He is hands down the BEST orthopedic surgeon around; he is an phenomenal diagnostician, surgeon and person. He takes time with his patients, is compassionate, thinks first/operates only when necessary and genuinely cares about his patients. Good luck finding that combo anywhere else. The icing on the cake is his staff. Dr. Silver hires staff that are likeminded, kind and efficient. This is evidenced by the fact that there is almost no staff turnover. You are treated like a valued patient - not a number, like at some of the 'big box' ortho offices - from the minute you walk in the door. His PA, Tina, is fantastic and always puts me at ease... even making me laugh during awful in-office procedures (much appreciated, Tina). So there, due diligence is done. I read the other reviews and found myself nodding in complete agreement as I read the others' words; I was not surprised at all. Dr. Silver took care of my son's broken wrist almost 13 years ago. I was thrilled with him then...his demeanor, his professionalism, how gentle he was with his words and with the exam, the way he personally took the time to get to know us, the empathy he showed my son (who was only 8 at the time and a little scared) by joking with him as he manipulated a painful break; I was blown away. Fast forward to 2 1/2 years ago when I took a bad fall at work and was in need of a good ortho doctor. Dr. Silver (and his amazing band of staff) came to mind immediately and there was no doubt in my mind who I would turn to for help. I couldn't believe he actually remembered me and automatically had a weight lifted off my shoulders, knowing I would be in his care. We went through arthroscopic surgery and a total knee replacement together. One of the great things about this practice is Dr. Silver has his own out patient rehabilitation program, also staffed with incredible therapists who regularly communicate directly with Dr. Silver, planning for the best possible outcome and recovery. During my in-patient recovery from the TKR, my patellar tendon ruptured...a freak happening. Upon diagnosing the problem, Dr. Silver needed to rely on a colleague because this surgery needed a specialist and he hooked me up with another sensational surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Levi. I needed a patellar tendon allograft, another TKR and was in inpatient rehab for 15 weeks! Dr. Silver worked closely with Dr. Levi, never letting me feel as if I was "passed off." If Dr. Silver held a confidence in this other doctor, then so did I. The surgery was a success and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Silver & Dr. Levi for collaborating and helping me be "whole" again. I am still in physical therapy with Dr. Silver's team and, even though the progress is slow, when I go I to see him, he is so encouraging. Together they have a plan for my recovery...from a surgical standpoint and from a rehabilitation point of view. And I just can't say enough about his staff...as busy as it is, I am ALWAYS greeted with smiles, I ALWAYS feel they are genuine, hard-working, funny (senses of humor are mandatory) caring, efficient and have never made me feel rushed or like I am just another patient file. They are all championing for us to get well and provide a fabulous environment for that to happen. Does this sound like gushing? Well, good, then I have adequately gotten my point across. Granted, no one is perfect, but I can say, without reproach, this combination of Doctor & staff is about as close to perfection as it comes. I consider myself lucky to have my family under the orthopedic care of Dr. Ronald Silver and know, in the future, should we need his services again, we will return in a heartbeat!! read more

I was in a car accident and after physical therapy and several arthroscopy's, Dr. Silver did a total knee replacement on my right knee in 2002. I contracted Cellulitis (certain types of bacteria enter through a cut or crack in the skin, such as cuts, insect bites, or surgical incisions are the cause of the infection.) had to undergo massive amounts of antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Knee and leg have never felt right but every time I went back he claimed he couldn't see anything wrong. Went to another Orthopedic surgeon who told me the pain and swelling was from the knee parts not fitting properly because one knee part was larger than the other causing the knee to slip out of joint. He suggested a knee brace but didn't want to do surgery because he didn't want to get "involved". The brace did not work, the knee looks deformed has been horrible! I have not had a day since 2002 that this knee has not hurt. There is so much more but I'll leave it at this. read more
