Hot water runs out after one shower. Two light bulbs out in a bathroom. When going to the beach with small children, if you want to stay close on the beach so you can watch them you can't. Only if you rent an umbrella with chairs, other wise you must stay behind large crowds of people. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful, relaxing getaway last fall at Silver Dunes Condominium, Unit 43. We were close enough to restaurants and shopping that we could walk. The condo was so spacious and beautifully decorated and the VIEW was spectacular!!! My husband and I enjoyed watching the sun rise in the morning from our room or the balcony and what a spectacular view in the evenings as well. We had chairs reserved on the beach everyday, thanks to the owners of the unit. That was AWESOME!!! The pool was very well maintained and we enjoyed laying out there as well. We enjoyed Unit 43 so much we went home and booked our stay for the fall of 2023!!! We can't wait!!! read more

These condo's dont look very fancy on the outside. Nevertheless, the rooms are great. There is a big grassy courtyard, a pool, tennis courts, and a beautiful private beach. The units have fully stocked kitchens and bathrooms and they have strict rules about the maintenance and decor. I stayed in unit 8 which was two bed, two bath. It is on the first floor so it was nice to just walk straight across the courtyard to the beach. The master has two double beds and the guest room has a double bed and a twin bed. The kitchen is brand new with new appliances and fully stocked. The bathrooms are also brand new. The decor is bright, beachy, and fun. The private beach is beautiful and the chair rentals are fairly priced. Also, George, the chair guy, is really great and sets up huge umbrellas if you want shade. The condo's are in a good quiet location with a lot of families. It is also close to a lot of restaurants and the Harbor. It is humble and not too flashy and perfect for a family or big group. read more

Unit 1 Penthouse ground floor. One bedroom one bath. Could really use a much needed fresh bright update. The bath tub is old and scratched up. Ice maker in fridge did not work! Took all your strength to open sliding door. Couch and chair are pleather and peeling. Ugly dirty looking cheap area rugs. This unit could really use a through cleaning! Lamps in living area and bedroom are both cracked and flimsy. Really needs a fresh painting and cleaning! Great location, just a short walk to the beach! For what they charge you would think it wouldn't look like a hotel 6. Not impressed at all! read more

I wish I could give this place a better review, but they have major problems with their owners. My parents have been going as Snow birds for the last few years and this year we tagged along for a week. When they first arrived there were no railings on the fourth floor meaning that if you lost your balance you could fall 3 stories. They have since put up temporary wooden railings. The elevator was out of order and won't be fixed for the entire 2+ months they are there. The worst part of it is that the company made no effort to tell my 70 year old parents this. They booked via phone, and there was no email or mailing telling them that there would be major construction and no elevator. My dad has a heart condition and bad knees so walking up 4 flights is worrying. There was also construction noise going on everyday making it hard to enjoy the unit. When we arrived there was mold in the guest room, which the staff quickly cleaned, but we were forced to sleep in The living-room till the walls dried. Checking out the website for the condo, they have sports and water aerobics, but these aren't provided by the complex. They are provided by the people who stay here every year - and considering they are charged more and more every year its doubtful they would want to come back. I get that it's the off season and the snowbirds get a discount, but it's no reason not to treat them fairly. The only reason they get any stars is the location and view and the friendliness of the staff. Also they don't recycle. Like at all. Who doesn't recycle in this day and age?!? read more

Banana Jones and The Case of the Silver Dunes The gate opened before she could even enter the code. Although a bit startled, Banana Jones smiled as she noticed an older woman with flaxen hair and a genial smile waving her forward. "Checking in, sweetie?" she said with sweet southern charm. "Yes, ma'am", Jones replied and was directed to park and have a wonderful stay. "I think I'm going to like it here", Jones said to herself. A long week of sex therapisting had led Banana Jones to seek out this oasis called Silver Dunes. She was tired of listening to the penchants and proclivities of her clients, and looked forward to a few days of seclusion, sand, sun and of course pet detectivery. She walked into the room and was greeted by a cute living space, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Not overly large but clean and capable of hosting 2 couples comfortably. "Not that I'll need it" mused Banana out loud. "Haha, unless I pick up a horse case, or someone's missing a couple otters. I'd probably let them use the spare room." Banana Jones chuckled out loud at her jokes because everyone knows that despite their cute outward demeanor, otters are terrible roommates. After mixing up a pitcher of pina coladas in the well-stocked and sized for one kitchen, Banana Jones made her way to a cute double patio that had sliding doors from the living room and one of the rooms. She took a seat, looked out over the pool and a large expanse of grass, and could make out a bit of the ocean over the dunes. "I wouldn't say they were silver, but they ARE a beautiful shade of white. Unit 6 was a good choice, Banana. Now what's next?" Banana took a stroll across the soft grass and came to the beach. Pay for play chairs were lined up in rows so she took a seat behind them because she knew that these private beaches had policies against the "bring your own folks" blocking the view of the "richies". To her surprise, the chair attendant by the name of George approached her to let her know that they left a stretch of prime ocean front sand just for the folks that don't want to rent chairs. "This place gets better and better". Noticing George's kind nature and eagerness to have a conversation, Banana jumped on the opportunity to find a lead. "So, George...I know this might sound crazy, but I'm a Pet Detective. I look for chances to thwart pet and animal crimes. Have you seen anything...fishy around here lately?" George let out a guffaw at the terrible pun but then got serious and said "There HAS been a suspicious manatee cruising up and down the beach lately. I'm not sure what he's up to but Silver Dunes has a specific policy against drifters". With a knowing nod, Banana responded "I'll take the case, but you gotta trust me while I catch some rays and gather more intel. This kind of thing has to be done porpisefully". After a few hours on the beach, Jones decided it was time to catch a bite to eat and maybe look for some clues. Always trusting the K9 sense of Yelp reviews, she decided on Boshamps and got cleaned up for a night of food and detectivery. Great family environment. Love the low rise condos, uncrowded beach and grass courtyard. Condos are clean and great beach views. Not the typical high rise and no restaurant or bar services on the property, so if you're looking for that, this is not for you. Gated secure environment, pool and tennis. Beach service provided. Summer rentals are weekly with Saturday checkins. Some condos are more updated than others. Still great place to come year after year with family!!! read more

This is a great spot with good restaurants right across the street and other fun family places. Chick-fil-A and Pizza Hut right across the street, as well as a couple others. There is a water park and a go kart place a block or 2 away. It has its own private beach on the property. Cost about $30 to rent 2 chairs and umbrella. There is a pool on the property as well. Right next door, there is a hotel that has a bar/restaurant. Everything is worth 5 stars. The only reason I gave 4 stars overall is because the rooms are a little older style. Beds, sofas, curtains, pictures, kitchen, tables, and other things seem maybe from the 90s or even 80s. But for the price I guess it's understandable. Would probably come back to these condos. Has security parking and a gate code. About a 5-10 minute drive from the main Destin boardwalks and attractions. read more

We took our first family Va-k to Destin this year & stayed at Silver Dunes. The property was immaculate, grill access awesome, beaches amazing and staff exceeded our expectations. Taking advantage of the umbrella/ chair service with George made our daily trips to the beach plug and play, nice to take a dip in the pool after a day at the beach was a nice touch. I have been vacationing at Silver Dunes since 1976. We haven't missed a summer. I'm telling you, this is the most unique property on the Emerald Coast. It is very family friendly and the courtyard is one of a kind! At the end of a day enjoying the sugar white sand and wonderful gulf surf, there is nothing more enjoyable than watching children of all ages playing kick ball or tossing a frisbee on the lush green courtyard. My children are grown, married, and have children of their own. One drives 9 hours to Destin and the other flies from NYC for our week at the beach. Now they are giving their children the "Silver Dunes" experience. There's no place else that they want to spend their vacation. You've got to check this place out!!
