Very impressed by the front desk staff. We got a day pass and weren't able to get a rental car and the two girls were extremely accommodating holding our bags and assisting us. After a long day we decided we needed to spend the night, we came here around 10pm with no reservation. The check in process was tough with a lot of back and forth with the receptionist. She would say yes they had a room, then go well actually I need to check and she did that like 4 times before getting us a room. We had a friend staying at the same hotel and after he mentioned being a silver member is when we finally got a room, not sure if that was a factor or not but felt like it. We would be okay if they were full but just be upfront in the beginning. The room though was clean, on the first floor and the AC was running. The shower was clean and great water pressure. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, we slept well. The checkout process was easy and they had breakfast but we didn't partake. It was a short stay but the location is good and the price was good. read more

This is our second visit in two years, last year one elevator was broken today. Both elevators are not working. Does not seem like the owner is taking care of the property which is sad it's such a great location. We will consider other properties in the future . read more

The hotel was okay before the elevator broke down on my second day there, and the room was clean, but the " Gulf View" room was misleading at best. I set up an early check-in on the app, and when I arrived at 1 p.m., I was told there was no early check-in available. They should have called me to tell me my early check-in request could not be satisfied. Or, at the very least, she could have pretended to look me up in the system before telling me to come back at 4. They also had several large trucks with trailers, taking up multiple spots in the front of the parking lot by the main entrances. Vehicles that need more than a single spot should have been made to park in the back so as not to inconvenience every other guest. read more

I hate that it took me so long to write this review. I feel like I having been keeping this place a secret by doing so The staff here make you feel warm and welcomed. The rooms here are clean and well put together. Sleep great too! Didn't hear noise from outside or the lobby while staying here. The breakfast here is truly amazing!!! You get the regular yogurt and cereal but they also have a waffle maker (a big one and mini's), an mini egg omelettes, sausage, and much more. Yumm yum! Great sitting area outside as well! We only stayed overnight but we were really impressed!! It's much nicer than the photos show! It feels like a 4 star hotel, nice decor, Great landscape and lighting and heated pool situation! Premium bedding, super comfy, roomy double queen and bath with well equipped room! We heard from several other guests how great the breakfast was but we had to get on the road before 7:00 when they roll out the spread! The staff is super friendly! I needed to print something and they had a computer and printer available in the lobby...easy breezy! Highly recommend!! read more

Stayed there for 4 days for a vacation trip. Let's start with the staff. They were all friendly and efficient. Constantly sanitizing and general cleaning. For being on the beach there were little to no signs of sand. There was someone that was constantly sanitizing. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. The hospitality and cooking staff were also on top of things by constantly filling food. The food was tasty for hotel food. We did laundry which was also nice. The hotel overall was quiet and you couldn't hear other people like most hotels. The only set back is someone Parked a Winnebago in the parking lot limiting quite a few parking spots. read more

Great value stay in Destin This is a great hotel in a central Destin location. Our room was spacious, modern and well designed (lots of desk space/shelving for you to put your stuff) with a super comfortable bed and good bathroom. Although we paid less than $100 per night, there were lots of small touches (cookies at reception, plush linens) that made the hotel feel a little more luxurious than other hotels we have stayed at in this price point. Decent price for what you get. I've stayed here twice now and it hasn't changed. The rooms are very clean and they have the typical amenities. The staff here is nice but they do not go out of their way to be very accommodating. They also like to use their cell phones for personal phone calls while at the front desk which I thought was a little off-putting. One of the girls that works the morning was nice enough to assist me with research on places to go to eat and to visit. She was very helpful for local questions. Like I said, the staff is nice and they are willing to assist but they're lacking a little bit of professionalism that I'm normally accustomed to at other Marriott locations. The free breakfast good. They do go through a lot of coffee so if the coffee does run out someone is there to refill it fairly quickly. The beds are comfortable and the linens are soft. I had a little bit of issue the air-conditioner at first but I was able to get it working. You have to make the adjustments at the air conditioner at self and not by the thermostat on the wall. read more

Please don't waste your time and money here. My grandparents and I stayed here for two nights and we're convinced they gave us the worst room they could find, and yet we paid an outrageous price. The floors and furniture were REALLY gross, and I don't normally complain about hotel cleanliness. The mattress on the pullout couch wasn't just uncomfortable--it was impossible to sleep on it. You could feel the springs underneath you. Not to mention that outside, the trash was overflowing when we got there, with food and drinks spilled on the ground and attracting stray cats, and WAS STILL THERE WHEN WE CHECKED OUT. Really gross. Not to mention that both mornings we stayed, they were out of coffee in the continental breakfast, which was subpar to begin with. One of the elevators sounded like it was about to break the whole time. Oh, AND the ice machine was broken. Epic. I normally love Marriotts, so the fact that this is so unsatisfactory is really disappointing. Like I said, don't waste your money. read more

No food or drink is available except a low grade Breakfast and a tiny snack shop. entrance and Breakfast area are small and food is standard low end buffet - nothing prepared onsite. Her lack of compassion and professionalism was not appreciated and because of her, we would never stay here again. Nor recommend to anyone to stay here either. My husband was attending a business meeting in Destin so I joined him on his trip since my family lives nearby. We are loyal Marriott reward members so we try to book our hotel stays at Marriott as often as possible. Unfortunately, our choices of Marriott chains in Destin were limited to the Fairfield Inn and Courtyard Marriott and none of the locations were located on beachfront property. We booked our room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Destin since it had been recently renovated and looked slightly nicer than the Courtyard that we usually stay at. During check-in we received a welcome gift and complimentary bottled water since we are Marriott Rewards Platinum Members. The employees at the front desk were super friendly. Since it was Valentine's Day we inquired which restaurants would be the easiest to get last minute reservation at. When we returned from dinner the girls at the desk remembered us and asked us if we enjoyed our meal. Our room was clean and comfortable, but had no view or extra frills. The free continental breakfast was surprisingly decent. A selection of juice, coffee, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bread and pastries, eggs, bacon and sausage were available each morning. I utilized the business center downstairs when I had some work come up that I was unable to complete on my iPad. There is a fitness center and a pool at the hotel (both very small). The hotel is not on the beach so there are no beach views or direct beach access, but Henderson State Park Beach is nearby. You will need a car to access the beach since it is located on the other side of the busy highway. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Destin wasn't exactly the most romantic place to be at for Valentine's Day, but it was perfectly suitable for a business trip. read more

The Pros: The Hotel is very nice, and hits it perfectly with plugs. No more searching around looking for a plug for your technology.. They've got lots of that. The beds are nice, with only 4 pillows (Three regular size, one tiny) each instead of the usual 9 tiny pillows you find at other hotels these days. There is a nice complimentary continental breakfast with all the usual fixings in a decent sized breakfast area. It is well attended by a quick and friendly staff. The keys are RFID, which is nice.. No more silly slotting of the card, removing off the card, reslotting of the card before you get the door open. Now you just have to randomly slide your RFID Card around the area on the doorframe until it clicks. The Cons: A weird "Three Device" Wifi limit. The employee I talked to said that this was something to do with the way it was configured and that even by paying extra you could not have more than three devices. The better half and I love the technology and we will easily use all three. Larger families with kids I can see would be in a bit of a pickle for sure with this. The "Gulf View" amounts to a view of the highway, even on the third floor. As this is an extra cost, I feel like Marriott is charging you more on the IDEA than any actual delivery. However, if you do want this, make sure and get the Balcony. We just got the view, which amounts to car watching on the busy highway in front of the hotel. The price is high, but lower than nearby hotels. I expect this is an unavoidable reality for places in this immediate area, so I can't really be too hard on Marriott/Fairfield for this. Overall I *would* recommend it here, with the major caveat being "The View" is not all that you might wish it to be from several hundred miles away read more

We checked in hotel and had purchased a king suite. Upon entering room we noticed it's a lot smaller than advertised online. I had a sleepy toddler on my arms and took her directly to the room where we noticed we are right next to the elevator. We steadily heard elevator go up and down every couple min along with people loud conversations or laughing and called front desk to see if we could be moved. They offered to move us following day to another suite due to no openings on the first night. We agreed. Around 5 we get back to room and I take out my 3 year olds play house and play doh and book to use while we watch tv and order pizza. Around 745 we get a phone call from front desk stating we have a complaint of being too loud and a thump coming from our room. It can't be us. We are exhausted after a long road trip and busy day. My daughter is sitting playin w her toys on top of the table. About 5 min later the employee comes knocking at door. I open it and she starts saying she received another complaint and if this continues she will move our room and we will be downgraded. In shock, bc it's def not our room nor any running , no party, no music, no loud talking. I insisted to her that can't be from our room and they have to be mistaken. She was rude and automatically assumed the person below us was telling the truth and I kept trying to think what noise they heard. I could hear people down are hall talking and running to their rooms and doors slamming. But here I am getting blamed and threaten to be downgraded due to a thumping coming from my room at 745!!!! The next morning the only thing I could think of is that our son brought our newborn grand baby a couple days old to see us for about 15 min along w their 1 year old who is learning to walk. For sure the thumping they heard was when she was trying to walk . Very disappointed. I told them I was going to record what was going on in my room as soon as she left from telling me about complaint and I sure did. I recorded the next 34 min until we went to bed. Such a joke. Rude customer service. Instead of questioning she was assuming and believing one side who heard noise at 7:45 pm From our room. Smh. Never again. Never again. We stayed here for about 9 days for vacation. We reserved the rooms back in February, which I highly recommend because my rates were waaaaaaayyyy cheaper than they would have been had we stalled. This hotel really offers great access to most things in the Destin area. A huge plus was the proximity to Walmart (which was just a block away). Despite the heavy traffic, you are really less than 20 minutes drive to the best areas of the strip no matter how ridiculous the traffic is. We did not have any view of the beach but this was not a must-have for us and we opted to invest our dollars into other things than a "room with a view." The beds were comfortable and the room had great accommodations such as a microwave and mini-fridge. The shower had really nice water pressure and the desk area of the room was great for my laptop that I needed to use during our stay. The AC worked nicely as well. The hotel offered both an indoor and outdoor pool, along with a limited fitness room. There was also complimentary computer use downstairs that included printer use if you were in need of printing off tickets or excursion information. The breakfast each morning was about the norm of what you'll find almost anywhere these days: continental breakfast offerings with some very limited cooked items such as scrambled liquid eggs or sausage. They will toast bread and bagels as well. Everything is handled by the staff there due to COVID precautions. There is some fresh fruit and yogurt. Coffee, various juices, bottled water, 2% or skim milk. There isn't much variety if you're there multiple days, so take this into account. A few things really reduced my rating of this hotel: staffing. I do understand being understaffed, but this place seemed to be running a skeleton crew. Of the 9 days we were there, housekeeping did nothing aside from switch towels and empty trash except for 2 of the days. It was routine to hunt down toilet tissue or ask for an extra towel as we were 4 people. Forget getting any additional soaps or shampoo. The charge for the room... the deposit for incidentals was to be $20 per night. No big deal. But I woke up around the middle of my stay to see they had overheld funds by over $700!!! When I went to ask, the overnight hotel attendant stated she didn't see any charges for the room and decided to just charge another $1000 for our stay. When I showed her that the room had already been charged (and showed my bank statement proving it), she developed a bit of an attitude and said there was nothing she would do and if I had a problem, I would need to see the manager later in the day. So, that's what I did. I went to the front desk later and explained to the front desk personnel there what had occurred and she said that a manager didn't need to be involved and that she could help me with the situation. This took about 30 minutes to complete but it did reduce the amount on hold with my account to the correct amount a couple of days later. Lastly, we had some issues with the toilet in the room not flushing very well. It was an intermittent problem but there was no one to fix it. Overall, I liked the hotel location and the rates were affordable compared to like alternatives in the area. There were a few glitches with our stay but they were resolved. A decent, middle-of-the-road option that is family friendly and convenient if you're looking for a short or an extended stay in the Destin, FL area. read more

Then when I inquire about the room they tell me they GAVE the room they already CHARGED me for to some one else. "That's my bad." The desk person has nerve to say. I also booked a room with two large beds and was told they can only give me a room with ONE BED. No reduction in price no refund, no discount. This is complete fraudulent theft, and theft is a crime. Very nice hotel. Comfortable bed and pillows. Very clean rooms. The only issue we had with the room was our tub leaked after we turned off the water. Loved the free breakfast buffet. We were very happy with the offerings. They had waffle irons to make your own waffles. Eggs, sausage, bacaon vegetarian sausagen hot oatmeal with a choice of toppings, cereals, yogurt, breads and fruits. Coffee, tea, juices and water We chose it because it had both ubdoor and outdoor pools as we were concerned that it might be too cold to be outdoors. But unfortunately didnt have time to use the pools. We were inky in town for 3 nights. It was located right across the street from Henderson Beach which was gorgeous. We didn't have time to walk the nature trails. But we enjoyed the beach. It's also right next to Fudpuckers which has the fun and free Gator Beach Also next to Fudpuckers was a big arcade and a nice big souvenir shop with nice and affordable things On the other corner across from hotel there's a big plaza which had Walmart Bealls and Dollar Tree It's about a 10-15 min drive to Harbor Walk Village I would recommend it. You must have a car to fet around Destin and surrounding beaches. There's free parking at the hotel as well read more

NO internet for five-night stay. Hours trying to resolve. Employee confessed intermittent and non-functioning internet has been an ongoing problem at this hotel for weeks. My wife was unable to "Work From Hotel" so she flew home two days into our stay. (It wasn't "us." We were able to instantly join wi-fi's at other businesses in the area). One of the two elevators went out one day into our stay. Still wasn't fixed when we left. Breakfast bar food items were lacking or out often. Staff was mostly unfriendly - like they were doing us a favor to do their jobs and they'd rather not. Took two days to get housekeeping to clean our room. Also, the hotel charged my card more than what was on the Bonvoy app pre-paid reservation. I left a note, detailing the situation, but have not heard back from the hotel, and don't expect too. Overall, this property's management is lackluster and the full extent of their customer service is "we're sorry for the inconvenience" and not action after that. A complete lack of urgency. In terms of the internet, we were going to change hotels but the prices of the hotels in the area - given it was last-minute and Spring break - were exorbitant. Marriott offered to book us into another hotel, with no discount, and said they couldn't guarantee a refund on the no-internet hotel we were staying in. Thanks for nothing. Of the hundreds of hotels we've stayed in over the last couple of decades, this is the worst hotel experience in memory. Very surprising for a Marriott property - they are usually average or above. We chose this for the location - across the street street from Henderson State Park - but there are plenty of hotels within a half-mile of the park. Needless to say, we won't be staying at this Fairfield ever again. read more

I recommend hopping in your car and going to one of the public beaches literally right next door to Henderson. Why pay when the public beaches are free and then you can just walk into Henderson?? I had a king sized suite which was plenty big with a bedroom, living room, and dining area. I'm not sure I would have paid extra for the balcony rooms as you are really just going to be looking right at the busy street in front of the hotel and not really have an ocean view. read more

Hubs and I stayed here while on vacation in Destin a few weeks ago. The hotel was clean and customer service was pleasant. We had free breakfast in the morning and it was actually more food than I was expecting. I was thinking more along the lines of a continental breakfast, but I had waffles, eggs, sausage, and cereal every morning. Very close location to the beach (about 5 min drive). It's on the main strip so you really have a close proximity to everything (shopping, beach, restaurants, etc.). The rooms were clean and up to date, and overall the hotel had more of a modern look. I believe there was 4 floors with some rooms even having a personal balcony. We're assuming that the next time we visit we will return to this hotel. Marriott rarely disappoints me (they have before) but this time was no exception. read more

As I was planning my first trip to Destin I found it difficult to select a hotel because many of the hotels didn't have Destin addresses. Not knowing what to expect, I didn't want to take a chance of being too far from the beach. I chose this hotel simply because it was cheap compared to the others and it had a Destin address. It was a lucky guess. The hotel is a new addition to the main strip along the beach among other hotels, shopping and restaurants. It is on the far end of the strip across the street from the beach (compared to other hotels that are on the beach). However with a right turn out of the parking lot and two lights down you are at the public beach (2 minute drive). We arrived early and the staff was able to get us early check-in so that we could get to the beach quickly. The room was nicely decorated, clean and spacious enough for two adults and two children. There is plenty of free parking. Stays include a continental breakfast. Our stay was quiet and uneventful. The only issue that I had was that there weren't enough towels in the room for four people and when I called to request additional towels, it took a while for them to be delivered but they did eventually show up. If being on the beach is important to you, there are other options but if you're flexible, this hotel is worth the savings. read more

The hotel was ok, the beds were ok, and the pillows were ok. The facility was clean. I knew ahead of time it was not on the beach but didn't think it would be a problem to get to one. Henderson State Park is right across the road from the hotel. You have to drive there because it is not safe to walk across HWY 98! Out of all the public beaches in Destin, I loved the beach at the state park the best because it was less crowded and really clean. It's only $6 for a car to get into the park. I liked that the Fairfield Inn was just outside of the busy part of Destin. It is a short drive to do all the touristy things, but far enough away you're not dealing with drunks. The free breakfast is as to be expected. It was hot and fresh, but limited options. I would stay at this hotel again. But if I'm going to the beach, I would look for something on the waterfront. Never stayed in a condo and therefore went with this option and it was worth the money. read more

Horrible experience. My husband and I came to the hotel for our honeymoon, we reserved a king suite for 2 nights. When we arrived we were showed a 2 queen bed room that was not a suite and we were not able to get it fixed do to no supervisors or management on staff to talk to to fix the issues and the clerk said she will get us a better room and to wait in the current one we waited over 2 hours for them to get the room ready, once we got settled asked the front desk for a ice bucket for our champagne.... it never arrived also when my husband and I awoke the food we put in the fridge was ruined do to the fridge not working my husband went and talked to Maria the manager on staff who was vary disrespectful to my husband and did not fix the issues or resolve the problems. All together a horrible hotel basic breakfast and doesn't deserve even one star. read more

AVOID STAYING AT THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION. THE Marriott brand is usually a very good option when your traveling but it seems as if they have forgotten how to keep their word and take care of their guests. I stayed at this particular hotel a couple of days ago. I called the hotel directly and requested a 1st floor handicap room because my wife had just had surgery. The associates I spoke understood my requests and even thanked me for being a Gold Elite Member put on hold to check to see if they could grant request. After a brief few minutes they said they were able to grant my requests and that I was all set. I am still beyond pissed that I was lied too. When we checked in we were given a standard room on the second floor. I spoke with the desk agent an said I was promised a handicap room on the first floor. To which I was told they were all sold out with no rooms available. That there were no notes in the system about my requests and that we would have to take the room we have. Not one apologie or even the slightest bot of compassion for a loyal an devoted Gold Elite Member. I guess it's time I move to the Hilton brand at least they still know how to please their guests. Great place I got on a good deal from one of those hotel sites. Fairly new and staff was really helpful and hospitable. No issues with anyone Breakfast was enhanced continental. All warm food was warm and cold food was cold. Again the staff was hospitable. The room was very clean and room service did a great job. The LOCATION was great though. Great beach across the street. Hope I'll be able to stay there again. The ONLY reason they didn't get a 5 is that the price, I'm sure , was due to its newness. Let's see how it'll be in a year. read more

Thus far, the check in was bad, and the view is a complete joke. We were supposed to have connecting rooms with our kids, but they gave one away. The " water view " was further explained upon check in that is is a " partial view ". There is still construction going on out front, so you can't turn directly into the parking lot. Me, my bff and cousin stayed here in July 2014. Great price for the location. Right on the strip, near shops, restaurants and across the street from Henderson Beach. Room was very clean (each day). Nice furniture. Nice carpet. I have a thing with hotel carpet ... very particular about it. Don't feel like I should HAVE to wear shoes in my room. Here - I didn't. Not only was it clean but it was cute/modern. Breakfast was good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. They offer hot and cold food. Better than a continental. Con: there were problems connecting the wi-fi to some of my Apple products. I called the front desk and they tried but couldn't help. They said unfortunantely they've had complaints about that before but don't know how to correct it. Note: wi-fi only allows you to connect to 3 devices at a time which could be a problem if you have more than 3 people and/or devices. read more

Nice new property but not great for business travel during tourism season -- and I should have known that. It's easy to hear the hustle bustle, loud talking and kids running through the walls and floors. I got roomy 1BR suite that smelled strangely and strongly like a boat, which might offend the noses of land-lubbers but I found somewhat nostalgic of my childhood spending summers on my parents' Sea Ray cabin cruiser. The spaciousness of my room was not well served by the small lonely trash can in the bathroom; could use another can in the bedroom and maybe by the coffee station. Speaking of cans, the commode had a bad habit of clogging, and I am NOT a big dude that eats 28oz steaks for dinner. But otherwise a comfortable stay in a good location. read more
