Although this is not the Gulf view I envisioned when I booked the room, it is a fine hotel otherwise.

The hotel was okay before the elevator broke down on my second day there, and the room was clean, but the " Gulf View" room was misleading at best. I set up an early check-in on the app, and when I arrived at 1 p.m., I was told there was no early check-in available. They should have called me to tell me my early check-in request could not be satisfied. Or, at the very least, she could have pretended to look me up in the system before telling me to come back at 4. They also had several large trucks with trailers, taking up multiple spots in the front of the parking lot by the main entrances. Vehicles that need more than a single spot should have been made to park in the back so as not to inconvenience every other guest.

I hate that it took me so long to write this review. I feel like I having been keeping this place a secret by doing so The staff here make you feel warm and welcomed. The rooms here are clean and well put together. Sleep great too! Didn't hear noise from outside or the lobby while staying here. The breakfast here is truly amazing!!! You get the regular yogurt and cereal but they also have a waffle maker (a big one and mini's), an mini egg omelettes, sausage, and much more. Yumm yum! Great sitting area outside as well! If your going to be in this area stay here, you will leave satisfied.

    Good breakfast for a hotel

Stayed there for 4 days for a vacation trip. Let's start with the staff. They were all friendly and efficient. Constantly sanitizing and general cleaning. For being on the beach there were little to no signs of sand. There was someone that was constantly sanitizing. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. The hospitality and cooking staff were also on top of things by constantly filling food. The food was tasty for hotel food. We did laundry which was also nice. The hotel overall was quiet and you couldn't hear other people like most hotels. The only set back is someone Parked a Winnebago in the parking lot limiting quite a few parking spots.

Decent price for what you get. I've stayed here twice now and it hasn't changed. The rooms are very clean and they have the typical amenities. The staff here is nice but they do not go out of their way to be very accommodating. They also like to use their cell phones for personal phone calls while at the front desk which I thought was a little off-putting. One of the girls that works the morning was nice enough to assist me with research on places to go to eat and to visit. She was very helpful for local questions. Like I said, the staff is nice and they are willing to assist but they're lacking a little bit of professionalism that I'm normally accustomed to at other Marriott locations. The free breakfast good. They do go through a lot of coffee so if the coffee does run out someone is there to refill it fairly quickly. The beds are comfortable and the linens are soft. I had a little bit of issue the air-conditioner at first but I was able to get it working. You have to make the adjustments at the air conditioner at self and not by the thermostat on the wall.

Quiet, affordable and clean. Location: B there is construction going on right now....otherwise A-. The beach is indeed across the street, but the street is a 4 lane road. Rooms: B- Very Clean...cleanliness is a huge hotel pet peeve of mine. It is a relatively New property and staff keeps it clean. Room sizes are decent for 2-4 people. Service/Staff: A. Great morning breakfast buffet and complimentary Wi-Fi and printer use. Great weekend getaway, near the beach with stores and restaurants close. As one tripper/yelper said, go a mile down and the entrance for the beaches are free.

This is the "View" I paid extra for. A highway a tiny bit of beach and a horizon.

The Pros: The Hotel is very nice, and hits it perfectly with plugs. No more searching around looking for a plug for your technology.. They've got lots of that. The beds are nice, with only 4 pillows (Three regular size, one tiny) each instead of the usual 9 tiny pillows you find at other hotels these days. There is a nice complimentary continental breakfast with all the usual fixings in a decent sized breakfast area. It is well attended by a quick and friendly staff. The keys are RFID, which is nice.. No more silly slotting of the card, removing off the card, reslotting of the card before you get the door open. Now you just have to randomly slide your RFID Card around the area on the doorframe until it clicks. The Cons: A weird "Three Device" Wifi limit. The employee I talked to said that this was something to do with the way it was configured and that even by paying extra you could not have more than three devices. The better half and I love the technology and we will easily use all three. Larger families with kids I can see would be in a bit of a pickle for sure with this. The "Gulf View" amounts to a view of the highway, even on the third floor. As this is an extra cost, I feel like Marriott is charging you more on the IDEA than any actual delivery. However, if you do want this, make sure and get the Balcony. We just got the view, which amounts to car watching on the busy highway in front of the hotel. The price is high, but lower than nearby hotels. I expect this is an unavoidable reality for places in this immediate area, so I can't really be too hard on Marriott/Fairfield for this. Overall I *would* recommend it here, with the major caveat being "The View" is not all that you might wish it to be from several hundred miles away

Traveling during peak summer can sometimes mean crowds or lagging service, but this resort delivered the exact opposite. From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like VIPs. Our room was immaculate, cool, quiet, and serviced impeccably every day. The refreshment/ snack center lines the breezeway onto the expansive veranda and steps down to the beach. It's stocked with guests favorites to enjoy 24/7. A glass door refrigerator is kept stocked with variety of Coca Cola brand soft drinks & bottled water. Lower shelves are kept well stocked with all kinds of Mars and Hershey candies from Milky Ways to M&Ms. Pretzels, Sun Chips and more varieties of Miss Vicky's potato chips. Starbucks drink machine rounds it out with a variety of hot drinks and iced coffee, made to order in under two minutes! Chocolate chip cookies fresh from the kitchen always available in registration area. Meals from their five star award winning pinched and culinary team can't be over stated. And the beach area (my reason for choosing Henderson) is gorgeous and pristine! -- it's lovely and never overcrowded, with staff constantly checking in to offer fresh towels, cold drinks, lunch and shaded setups. The dining options offered incredible variety and top-tier quality every single meal. All meals are à la cart. I enjoy this freedom to purchase specifically what I want rather than carrying a degree of cost for courses I don't order. Our meals were absolutely perfection! What truly sets Henderson Park Inn apart is the genuine warmth of the entire team. They didn't just manage a busy July week; they made us feel completely relaxed, pampered, and at home. Now at home we've realized this one week revitalized us better than two weeks anywhere else could've. Destin is a convenient location for most of the southeast. We live 6 1/2 hours drive away- pretty typical distance for many people in the southeast. But to stay at this amazing 5 Star resort right on the beach so reasonably close to home is a kind gift from God. Home now, refreshed and stocked with happy new memories too. This July 30 was our 50th wedding anniversary. Just can't put into words how wonderful time, even an over night Henderson Inn always is. This was our fourth visit!

The first night we booked their…read moremost expensive room, the presidential suite and the second and third night we booked the queen Juliette balcony (as this was all they had). When we arrived, no one asked us if we needed help with our luggage. We made our way to the Presidential Suite and it was filthy. The room size was massive but they clearly never cleaned it well. The couches and carpet all stained, the vents had 1 inch layers of dust all over, the fan was covered in dust balls and dust layers, some vents were falling out of the ceiling with no screws, the tile floor cracked, carpet has nails popping through and there is dirt and dust all over the floors from not being vacuumed or cleaned. There was also a huge roach on the floor which didn't add for an additional touch. It's Florida so I'm trying to be accepting of palmetto roaches but it wasn't cool finding that on your already filthy $1000 room floor. We were incredibly disappointed. For over $1000 this is not what we expected. We did share this with management and our next two nights we were supposed to stay in the queen room, was then adjusted to the king room. While the king room was definitely much cleaner, this room was also hundreds of dollars less in value. It's just very disappointing to pay over $1000 to have a room you can't sit on the couch, or walk the floors without your feet covered. Aside from the room, we also had a pretty awful breakfast experience. Eggs cold, and my husband's avacado toast was missing the egg. We sent it back and it was fixed but that lost our trust in the restaurant so we ate out instead. Our experience with the rental chairs on the beach was not good the first day either. The guy told us there were chairs set up, we walked over and there wasn't. He didn't offer to add anymore, so my husband put ours out for us. We really felt they lacked the customer service feature here. This place lacked the prestige we hoped for and we decided we wouldn't return here again. While the sunset and sunrise are just breathtaking, the hospitality and attention to detail here is lacking and not for us at this price. It seems people have been coming here for so many years they have blinders up and are missing how much is falling through the cracks or even noticing any issue. We would not stay here again and definitely do not believe 4 stars is a true depiction of this place, it could use work and improvements.

We were even allowed to check in a little earlier as our room was ready. We had room 207. Room: we had a two bedroom. The beds were comfortable. AC worked well. We had a partial view of the ocean. Our room was equipped with a microwave, a refrigerator, TV, a coffee maker with coffee. The refrigerator worked well. We also had an iron and an ironing board. The bathroom: clean and spacious. Water pressure was great. We always had hot water. The toiletries in the bathroom included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. The body wash was empty. I did ask for it to be replaced twice and it never happened The pool: plenty of lounge chairs, but not as much shade. If you want pool towels, you can get them from the front desk. You do need your key to go in and out. The pool was nice, but full of children. Breakfast: continental breakfast with hot and cold items. You can get waffles, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and protein. Cold items included yogurt and cereal. They had fruits, toast and bagels. The beach is a five minute walk from the hotel. There's also a walkable restaurant nearby called the back porch. Housekeeping does not come every day unless you request it. Check out was easy. We did ask for a late check out and were able to stay till 1230. Everyone that we encountered was nice and friendly.
