These are always heart warming and a chance to either just experience the beauty of the the sky lit up with lanterns or to let go, forgive, reset, or whatever else your heart desires for internalized fulfillment. Now with that being said, in comparison to our prior experience near Palm Desert in SoCal... Traffic to get in and out is tight and through plenty of turns so have those barf bags ready if your stomach is weak. Took a very long time getting in as it's practically a 2-laner, one for in and one for out. NO CELL RECEPTION!! So either plan ahead on where and when to meet if traveling separately or be prepared not to send smoke signals to find one another. This is also a nice thing as it forces you to disconnect and be one with your gorgeous surroundings nature. It's beautiful up there - but that's about it. Food selections is narrow. And one of the poorly designed setups for the lights festival here, if more annoying than the traffic, was that the fire poles were setup too close to each other that plenty of parties outside of the arranged fires to light your lanterns had to wait or had trouble getting their lanterns lit to float with the rest. Results? A subpar continuous lift of lanterns instead of one gigantic breathless view that is marketed so heavily in social media. Mediocre execution for the actual lighting of the lanterns, no cell service, no staff walking around to help you light lanterns if you didn't have any nearby accessible tiki lamp, and limited food trucks with long waits and lines. The good? Surrounding nature and the beautiful scenery. Once you get settled, it's so serene and nice. Omit the fact that it rained and was cold - that's nature, cold was to be expected since we're way up high. Bring your tent, chairs, or whatever you have to shield from the sun and relax comfortably. Highly recommended if you've never experienced a Lights Festival. Otherwise, if you're looking for the breathtaking sights you see all over social media - this organizational team and location falls short of it. We'll try the Vegas experience next time and hope it lives up to the memorable experience near Palm Desert. Best TIP? Don't rush out after releasing your lanterns. Hang out, spend time with family, enjoy the serene nature being up high and surrounded by nature with the night skies. Relax and let the traffic die down. Leave much later so you're not annoyed by everyone trying to return home ASAP!

Got lucky finding street parking a block away only bc we were there super early. They of course had portapotties available. This reminded us of flea markets which we had frequented ourselves. Remember this is a small town. So don't have too high of expectations! We didn't. It was a good time to get our morning steps in! We did experience peach ice cream at the local Candybox store. There was a bakery tent that had a long long line! Their pastry peach goodies looked phenomenal & mouthwatering!!! Lots of vendors had Lafufus or Labubus & that type of merchandise maybe bc it's the latest craze. There were other unique items too that you have to see for yourself. We were surprised & amazed! Live band entertainment came later but we had other plans. I'm sure they entertained the audience well. My wife even watched the peach pie eating contest online! It was crazy funny!!! Woohoo!

Located directly in the heart of downtown Marysville in the historic shopping district, this outdoor festival honors and commemorates everything peach-related including peach pies, peach cobblers, peach lemonade, peach milkshakes, and of course peaches all by themselves. Since this event was held from Friday 7/18/2025 to Saturday 7/19/2025, I came here on that Saturday at around 5:30pm. Best of all, they offer free parking everywhere around the festival site. Keep in mind that this festival is relatively small and only takes up a few blocks of downtown Marysville. The entire proximity is from 2nd-9th St's (north to south) and from B St to E St (east to west). However, there is a lot to see (and eat) as there are roughly 150 vendors and sponsors that participate in this event. Everything from face painting to a pie-eating contest to live music (with two separate stages) and lots of seating to enjoy entertainment. Finally, they also offer a ton of non-peach food trucks (including lobster rolls, BBQ, and much more). Additionally, they had a small area where children could take pony rides (for $10). And if in the event you need to go, there was a respectable amount of portable toilets available. The main reason why I came here was the comfortable mild weather. Usually during this stretch of July can see temperatures hover around the century mark. Fortunately, it was in the upper 80's during my visit and perfect conditions for walking the streets without being drenched in sweat. During my visit, I indulged in an iced cold peach lemonade, enjoyed a peach cobbler w/ice cream, and purchased a few several peaches to enjoy the following day. When it comes down to it, this event is good (but not over-the-top amazing). Many of the food options are overpriced while the peaches are much more than what you'd spend at a farmers market. But if you want that small town feel, this place will have you covered. Things move much slower with a lot of that small town character and charm. With that said and done, I am giving the "Marysville Peach Festival" a respectable and above average four-star rating.

This year I didn't get around to our state fair- which I try to attend annually, so, after talking to my father, we decided to pack up for the night and take a day trip to Gridley (on your way to Chico, if you still don't follow) Parking was no problem- and free. If you are to go, beware of small town scammers trying to sell you tickets...yep...theyre out there....admission is just 7 bucks, my 4 year old was free (for one more year, I think) Right away, we walked into the fun adult rides- the more popular had the longest lines, no doubt. Unlimited wristbands are 20 bucks, the grandparents watched the wee one, while the Mr and I snuck off for some coffee (try the gypsy coffee ladies Mexican Mocha) and fair shopping. Who can resist 10 dollar hats and 8 dollar sunglasses? Not this one. I went home with several, still in one piece after a week. County fairs are cute, and a nice change of pace from the usual crazy big business state fair- I probably circled the place 4 times in 2 hours- great local exhibits. We even got to see sweet little small town gangsters being escorted out- so there's plenty of security for sure. Very cool to see winners of homemade jams, flower arrangements and huge harvests. Local art is always my favorite, no doubt~it would be neat maybe one of these years to do more installations for artists- otherwise, Ill probably be here again in a few years.
