Also, a shady area with fake grass and seats made out of smoothed-out logs and tree trunks, as well as adirondack chairs where I was able to hang out and nap while I was there. The surprising thing was people were actually sitting and talking - no phones. The roses smelled nice, I sat down for a bit and chased my toddler around. The only picture I took was of the fountain. The place was so mesmerizing I forgot about the phone. My friend told me she also brings picnics here and I thought that was a wonderful idea. I will try it another time. But this place is really incredible. They don't allow professional photography here but you are welcome to take your own pictures. Pets are also not allowed here. Parking is easy as it's a neighborhood and you can find spots around. Highly recommend for some quiet reflective time or when you just want to take a break from screens. This place will make you forget about your phone and reels.

This includes a small and large dog park, multiple gardens, a fitness station, and a number of play structures to keep all your little munchkins happily occupied. The park is very well kept, the restrooms are very doable, and with its large size, there isn't that congested feeling you get with other locations. On top of the many perks, there is a large field to kick or throw around a few balls. The only flaw- and might I add that it is a big one- is the lack of actual shade. Your relief from the sun's powerful rays is limited to the gazebo where the benches are or using the large flower structures as a shield. 5/5 stars all in all. This is lots of fun for kids of all ages.

The park also has workout stations -- although, many of them are closed right now due to COVID19 but an average person could get a good cardio workout and get in some strength based exercises here (pull-up bars, etc.). P.S. there are no public restrooms with the exception of seasonal porta potties so you should probably go before you plan on visiting. Always great to see birdlife here: geese, coots, ducks, grebes, herons and an occasional hawk. Very popular with dog walkers on a leash (the dogs, not the people ). Recommendation: The park officials would be praised if they organized a separate trail track for humans and bicyclists. It would make both walkers and bicyclists so very happy. It takes a 20 minute drive from San Jose to Los Gatos. The main gate kiosk was unattended, so I proceeded to find a parking spot near the arched pedestrian foot bridge. I found out later that there was $6 parking fee but I got there around 7 pm this past summer, so I maybe got away with it. Next time, I'll just park for free in the nearby neighborhood streets such as University Avenue and Garden Hill Drive. This is a pretty large park with the Vasona Reservoir as a center piece. I wanted to loop around the lake's trail path only to find out that the west side is accessible through the University Avenue only. The miniature train wasn't in operation when I got there but I got to check out the mini train station and tracks. Ducks, geese and herons were hanging out by the water. People were concluding their day's activities as I went on with my hike. These were all sorts like urban anglers, birdwatchers, families on a walk, runners and bikers. I even noticed a couple of birthday parties ending as the sun was setting. Ongoing renovation, summer's dry foliage and some unkempt areas are what's keeping my review from being 5 stars. Still a serene place for a walk or a relaxing stroll and a good alternative to the overcrowded Silicon Valley area parks with a lot of picnic areas and even a dedicated bike lane.

There were several porta potties on site, as well as a parking lot for convenience. Such a carefree and relaxing atmosphere, with the adorable shops and eateries of Big Basin Way just around the corner.
