Hotel staff was extremely friendly. Parking is a little difficult with a SUV or a truck. Keep that in mind beds are super soft linens are clean central heat, and air. Light musky smell in the room, went away after running the air conditioning for a while

Nice remodeled hotel, safe location in Portland. My above sentence says it all. This hotel is great. It is close to the happening 23rd street where all the food and shops are. This hotel has a restaurant and bar. The host staff were very nice. There is a small lobby with a few couches to hang out. There's an elevator and stairs. They have a parking structure. The rooms were clean. They provided decent soap and shampoo. The beds were comfortable and the rooms look like they've been recently remodeled. I would stay here again. I felt safe here.

After being in the Hospitality business for 30 years, I have found that first impressions set the customer's expectations and has the greatest effect on their decisions to be a repeat customer. "You have only have one chance to make a first impression!" My first impression was when I called to confirm my reservation. No AI or third party live or software annoucements etc... that are cold and impersonal messages...but a personal greeting by General Manager Eric Peluschenko. I was impressed. When I arrived, Athena at the front Desk was sincerely friendly and even helped me personaly with my baggage to my very nice 2nd floor King room. Checking out, on front desk was Barbara, who was as \ sincerely helpful and competent as Athena. Now a snack at their great trendy kitchen & Bar....where Grace, the Bartender and great facilitator of keeping her customers in ingaing conversations, skilled in knowing how to "work entertaining conversations of customers, it felt like a re-run of a combo "FRIENDS-SEiNFIELD-CHEERS EPISODE while muti- tasking her orders not mIssing A beat! My Garlic fries were the Bomb! At breakast, my server, Trey, was right there with his contemporaries with frienly banter and professional service. He recommded the Homade "Spam & Whisky Bacon Signature breakfast, with homemade O'brian potatoes, two eggs to order, and choice of toast... and I chose the marbles rye toast...excellant through and through! We talked about Spam festivals as one in Southern Oregon in Shady Cove was very popular, but not sure if it has resurrected since pandemic. We wanted a staycation in the NW neighborhood. I never get over this way and wanted to try out a few businesses in the area so a local hotel is the way to go. We were able to check in early as the front desk was accommodating and had rooms available from the previous night that were ready. We selected the king suite as it had a bit more space and we thought it would be nice to have some room to stretch out as we were going to stay a few days. The king suite has a wet bar, sink, cups, plates, flatware, and everything you need. They include a coffee maker, coffee, and tea. This is great if you want to have take-out food (the restaurant on the premises provides room service. (We didn't try that but they provide menus in the room). I believe they provide daily service to the room. We have gotten used to not having service so we normally (since COVID) leave our DND sign displayed. The hotel has a complimentary parking garage and they provide you with a permit upon check-in. This made it great for walking to different locales in the neighborhood. They have various sundry items at the front desk for purchase. This is nice that way we didn't have to walk down to the store that said FOOD and CIGARETTES. Haha. All in all a good stay. I'll refer people here and will likely stay here again when checking out NW section of town.

I am allergic to Rosemary. Another Hotel gave me some soap.

No drama, no confusion, just keys in hand and off you go. The building itself has that great old Portland movie-era charm. It feels like the kind of place where a film star from the 1940s might walk around the corner at any moment looking for a martini. Instead it's usually just me looking for the elevator, but still... the vibe is excellent. Parking is on the next block over and surprisingly easy, which in Portland counts as a minor miracle. I've spent more time looking for parking at grocery stores. Now let's talk about the Driftwood Bar. Do not skip it. Curt the bartender is the kind of guy who makes you want to cancel your plans and just sit there all evening solving the world's problems over a well-made drink. Friendly, funny, and he actually knows how to make a proper cocktail. I wish I had more time to just saddle up to the bar and chat with him. Breakfast at Gracie's was also great. Our waitress Erin took care of us Wednesday morning when the place was mostly empty. Service was friendly, the food looked like someone actually cared when they put it on the plate, and the prices were totally reasonable. No $38 "artisanal avocado toast with existential despair." Just good breakfast done right. So what more do you want? Comfortable clean bed, reasonable prices, great bar, solid breakfast, and you're right in the heart of Portland. If you're staying in the city and want a hotel with character instead of a bland corporate sleep box, Hotel Deluxe is the move. I'll definitely be back...

After my stay, I had left my hairdryer in the room. The next day I called hoping they would be able to ship it to me. Cat (Kat?) answered the phone and said she found it. I know she found it because she also asked if I had left a brush, which I did. She said she could ship it, but just needed me to pay for shipping first, asked for my email, and said she would send an email to handle that. I never received an email. After a few days, I asked my mom, who is local, if she could just go down and pick it up since I was heading out of the country for a week. She went down to the hotel, but was told they didn't have it. Not only that but there were no notes in the system about it either. Zero information about my previous call or that they were waiting for payment to ship it. So I again called and got Thomas who searched everywhere and couldn't find it any longer. I asked for a manager to call me, this was 2 days ago. Still no call. I can only assume at this point that an employee stole my expensive hair dryer, which is why there were no notes about it and I never received any emails. I'd avoid this hotel in the future. Update 4/30/2026: Since posting this review, the situation has gotten significantly worse. On April 13, I received an automated text from ILeftMyStuff, the hotel's own lost and found system, confirming my hair dryer and brush were found and logged on March 1. I paid for return shipping through their system that same day and never received my items. On April 19 I called and spoke with a staff member named Claudia who confirmed the hotel had my items and would ship them. She later walked that back, saying she had only assumed they were there because they appeared on an internal list. I had previously requested a manager call me back. That call never came. Today the hotel is claiming the items were disposed of on April 1. This is the same staff member, Cat, who originally found my items and confirmed she had them. When my mother went to the hotel in person and when I called, we were both told they had no record of the items whatsoever. They did not notify me before disposing of them despite having my contact information on file from my original call. Note that my original review was posted last month, before April 1 when they supposedly "disposed" of my items.

I am a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member and have stayed at lots of locations over the last few years and I have always had a good experience with the staff. This location has tainted that. I booked for a day earlier than the day I needed (which was my mistake and something I have never done before). Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I went in to check in for the intended day. I asked for the total being charged to my card prior to paying since this was a new reservation and they lied- they quoted the total charge as $157 and billed $192. I called Marriott Bonvoy to see if I could have the no show full charge for the night before waived (I had a flexible rate that was refundable until the night before the booked stay) and was directed to speak with the staff first. The assistant manager told me that the card was charged automatically and that there was nothing he could do on his end but I could place a ticket with Bonvoy. I placed a ticket with customer service and was told I would receive a response in 3-5 business days. I didn't hear back so I called again after a couple of weeks and spoke with a supervisor who was kind and reopened the ticket as it had been closed without responding to me along with the updated information regarding me being charged a different amount than stated. I then received an email from front desk at the hotel basically saying they are denying the refund as I was told during the stay they can't refund it which is a lie- I was told they couldn't refund without me placing a ticket with customer service. I have recommended this location to others in the past based on a previous stay & I will definitely be telling those folks that this location while clean and well appointed is dishonest & I recommend they cancel their reservations. I will be staying elsewhere anytime I am in Portland. I get that the policy states no refunds if not canceled prior to the date of reservation, but I was lied to and billed more than told which could have made a difference in where I chose to stay on the needed day and was treated rather poorly by the assistant manager for a genuine mistake (& the needed day was less expensive than the day paid for initially). Overall, not the way to treat a returning customer.
