On my most recent ER visit I went in with severe nerve pain in my lower back. After check in I was brought back to a room and was visited by a DR Gail Tolten within 15 minutes. She ordered X-rays and a steroid shot which I received within 5 minutes. I had X-rays done within 15 minutes. Dr. Tolten then came back about 15-20 minutes later and explained everything she saw on the X-rays. I was given meds for pain and muscle relaxer and told to follow up with my GP about an MRI. I was in at 9:00 am and out by 11:00 am. I was also visited by Josh Carter of the SCOUTS program. He informed me of quite a few programs offered to vets over 60 that I wasn't aware of. If you are a vet or spouse of one, I highly recommend this hospital. The best VA hospital I have ever experienced.

I went into review my latest bone density with her, which was fine but I was expecting a discussion on new treatment option after I had completed two years of medication prescribed by my original doctor. I absolutely do NOT feel confident that my osteoporosis would be treated properly with this approach. Could it be a cutback of Medicare patients??

It was the day after Christmas and everyone's schedule seem to be pretty full. There were plenty of wheelchairs available out front of this "walk-in" orthopedic care center. I was wheeled into a fairly busy waiting room and was greeted with a pleasant smile. Cherie brought me back 45 minutes later, which I didn't feel was too long due to the number of people already waiting before me. The attending physician Ryan was able to consult my x-rays from Mission and explained to me where the fracture occurred, and how long I would need to remain in the hard boot. I scheduled my follow up appointment two weeks later with him. Considering the circumstances and the holidays, I felt this walk-in clinic did its job very well.

For someone in a different head space than i was, that could have meant a relapse or death by OD. -always double check your med cup to make sure they give u the right meds. -other clients told me there was issues with being tolf they would have access to their strong meds before going, & not having them once they arrived. Pro: they give out meds fast Housing: -First of all, there were bed bugs. ALL over the couches (that made their way into rooms). They did a very poor job of handling getting rid of them. -men & women were mostly separated with a few men in the women's house. However, if chips, deli sandwiches, pizza, & fried chicken are your thing, you'll be happy here. -the men can come eat at the women's house, but the women cant eat at the men's. -they say you will "make your own food to teach life skills," but it's actually just them not wanting to pay for a cook Pro: big kitchen Housing Staff: - one was fired bc she was doing sketchy things with giving clients wrong meds on purpose. -one was fired for fading out on the job - many of them talk bad about clients in front of other clients & are overall unprofessional - there is little communication between housing staff to the clinical staff (this causes all kinds of issues -do a very poor job of supervising clients sufficiently Pro: some are nice Clinical Staff - A reason for one of my stars. Most are great. -Didnt see a therapist till 1 1/2 weeks there, then they switched my therapist half way through. Therapists/medical staff are great, but billing is very shady and/or incompetent. Stuck me with an…read moreunexpected bill of nearly $500. I reached out to Compass a few months ago after getting a referral from my doctor to help with some back pain issues. When I reached out to them, I let them know that a previous PT office I was referred to had initially told me Aetna would cover everything and I'd just be responsible for a $50 copay. The other physical therapist office let me know prior to my first appointment however that after running my insurance, my cost per appointment would be significantly higher and suggested I cancel and find somewhere Aetna would cover. Soon after, I reached out to Compass, let them know about this entire situation over email, and got confirmation that my copay would only be $50. I scheduled my first appointment and three subsequent ones - paying $50 each time. A couple of weeks later I get a call from the staff who runs insurance/billing letting me know there was some miscommunication or mistake and Aetna would not in fact be covering my previous appointments and the amount owed would be substantially higher. I told them I'd like to cancel all future appointments then, given that it was way more expensive. I then got a call from the therapist I worked with (Eric, who was great) asking why I had missed my last appointment. I guess the billing staff I talked to didn't actually delete my appointments in their calendar. He said he'd look into it and see what's going on. A few weeks later, I get a surprise bill in the mail for $490 for the 4 appointments I had. A call with Compass confirmed that yes, I do owe them the full amount. I was told it would be $50 per appointment when I scheduled the appointments (and was encouraged to schedule in advance to make sure I got a spot in their schedule) then was slapped with a bill of roughly $172.50 per appointment. I guess I could only recommend this place if you're 100% sure your insurance will cover it, but even then you better get it in writing or they'll probably try and screw you over like they did to me. In a situation like this, I'd expect the practice to waive the cost as it was their fault in not doing their due diligence or communicating the cost at the time of the appointments being scheduled.
