Kronenschlößchen has two eateries, the top rated restaurant, and the somewhat less expensive "Bistro" downstairs which serves very high level cooking in its own right. This review covers the Bistro. Atmosphere is, as the Germans say, "Schlicht" and not quite as stuffy as the restaurant. Relatively small menu with big taste. We both had the braised pork cheeks as a starter and they were luxurious. For mains we had Pumkin raviolis and I had grilled Cod with sauteed boudin noir and apples. All dishes were excellent.
The bistro has a limited wine offering compared to the restaurant but the available wines were lovely and the mark-up not extreme. Caveat: we had two glasses of Sekt in the lobby before the meal which cost €10 apiece. Service was impeccable.
Two starters, two mains, a shared dessert, four glasses of wine, two glasses of sekt, and two bottles of water came to €151. As mentioned the Sekt was a bit high at €20.
Probably rates 4.5 stars as we have had somewhat more impressive meals for that amount of money.
