We've been seeing Al for at least 10 years, and my husbands family for many years before that. Al, and his staff, are kind and helpful. We have two small children who the staff are very sweet to when we come in for our annual appointment. Al takes the time to explain things to us, even when we had changes in our tax situation that resulted in us not receiving as big of a refund as we had hoped for (note that the reduction in our return is not a result of the office, but rather our exemptions, earnings, deductions, etc.). I have used Al for 15 years. He managed money for me when I was younger and always was on top of things and more than trust worthy. He has gone above and beyond several times in our working relationship to make sure things were managed properly. Now that I am older he just does my taxes every year. I have referred him to friends who have thanked me for how Al was able to help them clean up other accountants messes. His staff can be gruff during tax season. That's true. They're also really slammed and let's be honest, entertainment people want things done quickly and can be rude about it. This is the worst tax experience I have ever had. My husband was recommended to this place because a lot of people at his work got their taxes done there. For the first time in 10 years did I have to pay tax instead of getting a return and when I went to pick it up, I asked why. The front office manager, Roseanne (?) jumped down my throat and told me that they had spent enough time on me in email. I told them that I literally only had one email from Al on the subject and she completely dismissed me. I told her I felt that I had a right to ask the question and the snatched the tax return out of my hand and threw my check at me. She said, there, you have your money. I was so shaken but I insisted on getting the tax return asking if it was even legal. She finally gave it to me but told me to go file the CA tax return myself. Once I got home and looked it over, I decided that I would rather have a completely different accountant file it, even if it means that I have to pay twice for services. In my long professional life, I have yet to experience anything like that. Meanwhile, I will make sure this does not happen to anyone else. Update: got a call from the accountant who said that I must have provoked his staff as they are wonderful people. Well, not exactly what I heard from others but if he decide to run his business that way, I am happy to go elsewhere. read more
