I just felt I should update my review as it's been over nine years. Looking back, I am raising my rating to five stars. Over the last nine years, our Homeowners Association has worked with so many vendors and have experienced all kinds of headaches (I do appreciate it's not easy working with an HOA, but we always work in good faith and uphold our end of things). This past week we had Sikes Asphalt took out our old driveway, regraded and repaved our 2500 sq. ft. driveway. It is beautiful now but the best part was the professionalism from absolutely everyone in this company. The owner, the scheduler, the office staff and all the workers who worked so hard and did a great job. We were nervous about having the job done right because our house sits lower than the street so it was imperative that the drainage was done correctly and it was! My business planned for our parking lot to be redone, made all the necessary arrangements and were canceled on at the last minute because another job had taken priority. When we finally got a call back we were met with a dismissive and rude attitude- the last thing you want to hear when paying thousands of dollars for a job. We got 4 quotes. They tied for cheapest, and had the best customer service. Calling and emailing to make sure all our questions were answered. Scheduling was easy. Someone came by the day before to talk again about the plan. They day of they showed up on time, with the owner! They did extra for us, beyond what they had bid out, and gave recommendations on what we could do on our own drainage wise to save money. It was a pretty small job, but they never made us feel that way. They clearly not only do a good job but know how to treat a customer. I would highly recommend using this company! A year ago Sikes Aslhalt redid our shared driveway. It was in very poor condition after years of neglect, invading roots, and harsh weather. Working with Jake and his crew went very smoothly. All the neighbors who share the drive were happy with the bid, preparation of the site and the final outcome - a beautiful new approach to all our homes. Then came this years atmospheric river and pounding rains. Unfortunately the vineyard behind all our properties had a breach in their drainage system and the result was that all of us downstream got hit with an enormous amount of water. Our usually adequate culverts were overwhelmed and either side of the drive was compromised. Contacted Sikes and an estimator was there within a week and we were accommodated with a scheduling date within 2 weeks. Super fast considering how backed up most folks are nowadays. Heed caution using Sikes asphalt. Sikes does not install asphalt according to their written quote. They will quote you 4" thick asphalt (with two 2" lifts of asphalt) but will actually only give you one 2" lift when they are laying it with the paver. Also, they won't address any issues with the base layer. Base rock is what supports your asphalt. They will pave over unsupported base rock. I guess if you want your job to look like lipstick on a pig, by all means, use Sikes. They aren't the cheapest either for their lack of professionalism.... pretty much on par with the gypsy pavers that go door to door with left over asphalt. read more

Sikes asphalt resurfaced, repaired/patched and re-stripped my salon parking lot last year. I am very pleased with how fast the crew was able to get the job done. Jake understood the salon needs and choose to start the job on our slowest days, so there would be very little impact to the salon. The parking lot looks beautiful now. I had to have my asphalt driveway replaced as it was full of cracks and had started to break up. Jake came out and gave us not only a bid but advise on the best way to replace it, suggesting a much more economical route than fully replacing it. It is really disappointing to see how easy it is for someone to try to ruin the reputation of anyone in business via the net. Case in point, the foul mouth that has no experience with Sikes but general wants to bad mouth anyone in the paving business and even goes so far as to include the general public for contracting repairs or new construction. I had Sikes complete a pretty extensive job that involved some complex issues that had to be completed during a short window of opportunity due to severe whether conditions. Overall they did a very good job at a reasonable cost in a timely manners. Their crew and the owner, Jake, were professional and they cleaned up at each stage of the job. This included restoration to my neighbors property that was required to be disturbed so that new curbing could be installed.
