When it comes to busy this is definitely the busiest of all of O'Hare. There are tons of options for food and drink. There are also a ton of places to buy yourself a little something. Surprisingly, Terminal 1 opened in 1987, years after Terminal 2. Flagship terminal for United Airlines. Dubbing it as the 'Terminal for Tomorrow.' Forming a Y with glass curtain walls and exposed steel structures. Briskly walking through here, you really end up not really not noticing anything. You forget that you are near things. In your haste to make it to your gate, you definitely bypass a lot around you.

It's been awhile since my last stopover here and this time I actually visited the city of Chicago and what a ride...I believe it's known to be one of the busiest in the nation is and actually isn't for me, Could it because I had an early morning flight...perhaps but I just think it's the efficiency of it all as there is a lot going on behind what we know but I do love how they keep it so clear with signage of restroom, gates and whatever is just nearby. I do remember more food options here as now it seems it's far less got to my gate fast and easy especially since I found a scale to weigh your luggage helped immensity as I felt one was vey close to its' limit dislike to test it at the check-in counter. Terminal 2 at O'Hare opened in 1962. Upon opening it made O'Hare the busiest airport in the world…read moreat the time. All good things are slated to come to an end. Terminal 2 is to be completed demolished and replaced. Until then, we have this. Terminal 2 serves mostly domestic flights. Delta, Alaska and United fly out of here. Concourses E and F hold the gates. You can catch the CTA Blue Line here on the lower level. Connects to Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 via indoor pedestrian walkways. No need to go through security if you have a connecting flight. Ample dining and shopping choices to kill the time between flights. Or a short walk to your connecting gate. Or in my case, literally the gate over on one of my recent connecting flight. This is busy, but I can only imagine what this place will be like when they do move forward with their plans.

The TSA folks working this security checkpoint were super cool and nice! I asked about what food…read moreand coffee options lie beyond the checkpoint - the one guy I was chatting with advised me there was not much - just one place for coffee and breakfast. He recommended that if I did not like what I found to just come back out and go into the main terminal - he recommend a couple of spots he liked. After you pass through the checkpoint - there is a sign hanging from the ceiling that states: "Recombobulation Area" I've never seen such a sign before! Made me laugh. Either the TSA or the folks at Mitchell Airport have a sense of humor!

Yesterday I checked the "MyTSA" app to see what the approximate wait time for Terminal 5 might be…read more The app said 20-30 minutes. NOPE! It was a whopping 90 MINUTE wait. Ridiculous. When we the taxpayers pour billions of dollars into Homeland Security every year, you would think they might just upgrade airport security and hire enough personnel to do the job in an efficient manner. The line snaked all the way out into the ticketing area, maybe out into the outside luggage check-in area. They insisted we wait in three parallel lines at that point. However, by the time you get to the counters, it merges from three lines into one, with people crammed like sardines and no ventilation. As anyone with a functioning brain might expect, people get aggressive in that situation, jockeying for position. Not sure who designed this mess but it is fairly absurd. When we got to the front we could see that several scanning stations were empty. If it was because machinery broke down, they should fix the machines. If it's because they don't have enough personnel, they need to hire more. This is the wealthiest nation in the history of the world. Yet if you go to any so-called "third world" nation, their airport security is run more professionally than this. What an embarrassment.

A few nice FBO's. 3 runways, the longest is 5,001. Tower is open from 6am-10pm weekdays and opens at 7am on the weekends.
