Rideshares can drop you off at Terminal 5, but they are not allowed to pick you up here. Therefore, we had to take the Airport Transit System (ATS) train from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2 to call an Uber. This was a bit confusing and inconvenient after landing, but the signage was clear enough to follow. We spent most of our time in Terminal 5 at the Delta Sky Club in Concourse M, located between Gates M14 and M11. It's excellent as far as Sky Clubs are concerned. I left a five-star review for it separately here on Yelp. Terminal 5 is big and is in a separate building away from the Terminal 1, 2 and 3 buildings, which is why you need to take the train between the buildings. Terminal 5 contains all the M gates, M1-M40.

Tight walkways, limited seating and few food options make this area a bit difficult to want to spend time in. I generally fly United so I'm used to the additional spaces in terminal 1 and 2. I am sure someone will take pity on the old man. Nope. I had to just walk in front of someone who promptly yelled at me. Hey, I am old, and my bladder said it's time to go.

We were on tarmac at one time departing to leave for like 1hr...and the recent time..we had to wait 1/2hr for "city of Chicago" to fix the broken gate bridge!! Whooooooo's coming from "city of Chicago" to fix the gate bridge?! Insane. TSA has somewhat gotten better.kudos to that. International Customs suck here. They are very strict! They had me go through customs for my chicken sandwich from Germany which the idiot customs officer thought it was pork. Didn't even ask me what it was but made me go through customs! What jerks. They will charge you fines for pork and fruits so empty your luggage before you get to customs. Dirty bathrooms. United Lounges are crowded all the time and closed.

It does help that there are many signs along the way. We picked up an Uber on a cold March night. Thankfully, my husband and I were able to wait inside for our ride to arrive. The walk outside to the designated pick up area isn't very far but it's inconvenient to get to.

The TSA folks working this security checkpoint were super cool and nice! I asked about what food…read moreand coffee options lie beyond the checkpoint - the one guy I was chatting with advised me there was not much - just one place for coffee and breakfast. He recommended that if I did not like what I found to just come back out and go into the main terminal - he recommend a couple of spots he liked. After you pass through the checkpoint - there is a sign hanging from the ceiling that states: "Recombobulation Area" I've never seen such a sign before! Made me laugh. Either the TSA or the folks at Mitchell Airport have a sense of humor!

Yesterday I checked the "MyTSA" app to see what the approximate wait time for Terminal 5 might be…read more The app said 20-30 minutes. NOPE! It was a whopping 90 MINUTE wait. Ridiculous. When we the taxpayers pour billions of dollars into Homeland Security every year, you would think they might just upgrade airport security and hire enough personnel to do the job in an efficient manner. The line snaked all the way out into the ticketing area, maybe out into the outside luggage check-in area. They insisted we wait in three parallel lines at that point. However, by the time you get to the counters, it merges from three lines into one, with people crammed like sardines and no ventilation. As anyone with a functioning brain might expect, people get aggressive in that situation, jockeying for position. Not sure who designed this mess but it is fairly absurd. When we got to the front we could see that several scanning stations were empty. If it was because machinery broke down, they should fix the machines. If it's because they don't have enough personnel, they need to hire more. This is the wealthiest nation in the history of the world. Yet if you go to any so-called "third world" nation, their airport security is run more professionally than this. What an embarrassment.

A few nice FBO's. 3 runways, the longest is 5,001. Tower is open from 6am-10pm weekdays and opens at 7am on the weekends.
