Enter Siglo on a summers night, especially after 12.00am. I would easily say its between 12.00am - 3.00am on any give night is when its in its prime. This place has the potential to sweep you of your feet. The best thing about this Siglo is undoubtedly the city landscape that presents itself as you walk up and out onto the rooftop terrace. There is definitely a continental feel to the place and every jammed packed patron has a purpose, a story of how the night has unfolded, which make the company and ambience as equally as exciting. It literally is one of Melbourne's hidden little secrets. Cocktails, cigars, snacks accompanied by an extensive wine list is also on offer.

Great view during the day, not so good at night and not enough lighting. Very average champagne selection, but great location. Would advise going for afternoon drinks! Staff were also average, not horrible, just not on par with competing eateries.

Are you taking someone out on a date? Do you really want to impress them? Are you willing to splash some cash? Come to Siglo. Siglo truly is decadent, with a heated rooftop overlooking Parliament, a wide-range of cigars available and a cocktail list as big as Spring Street (including their world famous Espresso Martini), there is absolutely no way you can go wrong on a date here. Although they don't have a full menu you are able to order party pies and sausage rolls. What's cuter than that? Can't find it? Look for the big door next to the European Supper Club, and head straight upstairs.

It's dumb, but since it's technically "in the casino" you do have to show your ID, before walking a further five steps to get to the bar. Atrium Bar is sectioned off, and rightly so. I ordered the White Peach Toreador and also tried the Chicago Southside. It took quite some time for our drinks to come out, and it's not like they were understaffed or crazy busy to explain it. When the drinks did come, they weren't anything out of this world, just pricey and pretty. Maybe come here for basic drinks, not a cocktail? Every single night between 5 to 8pm, they have $10 Espresso Martinis. As the unofficial drink of Melbourne- that's pretty good to know. It's a nice setting, great for the people watching of Crown, and with the Atrium falls in the background, it's an easy place to go for a drink in a casino that still feels separate from that entity.

On occasion, you could spot a member of our executive team in the corner of the bar doing the same. It is a small bar within the complex, away from the riff-raff, but close enough to go have a punt at a table or a nearby machine. The re-fit they gave it in 2012 has only amped up its feel of being a bit 'spesh. Well, let's face it - you feel like you're part of the 1% when you're here. Cocktails are pricey, but it goes with the location. Live piano and jazz is a perfect fit to the vibe of the place. Most nights I've been it's been packed, but you're still able to get service at the bar in a reasonable amount of time, which is a testament to the staff.

The setting was beautiful -- perfect for people watching and soaking up the river atmosphere. There was a dj with really good music. We ordered the wagyu sliders and the calamari. The sliders had great flavor and were cooked just right. The calamari was crunchy, well-seasoned, and very tasty -- my only complaint is that the coating tended to fall off a bit. The pistachio, nougat, Patrón Café ice cream was the highlight. It takes a while so be patient. Overall, it was a lovely spot with good food, a nice vibe, and friendly service. We'd definitely come back for another relaxing afternoon by the water!

You couldn't help, but dance in your seats. Our seating was at 5pm and I couldn't believe the energy level in this place at that time of the night. Cocktails are definitely the way to go here. Apparently they have some sessions where you can get bottomless beverages for a price. We saw carafes of beverages being replenished at tables all the time. Don't expect menus or a dedicated server at this restaurant. The table had a QR code in which to place orders. If you have questions you can flag down a member of the staff, but you're pretty much on your own. We got a variety of dishes to share: The crudo Gunpowder cauliflower popcorn Smoked mussels Wagyu sliders The mussels were my favorite dish. It was a good portion and the lemongrass flavors were delicious. The gunpowder cauliflower was not spicy. It was nice and crispy, but the cauliflower remained soft inside. The crudo was great too, nice and delicate. We went back on another night and had all three desserts. My favorite was the chocolate raspberry cake. It's delicious. The table also loved the pistachio cheesecake.

Maroon walls, velvet and leather, dim lighting, European antiques (or knock-offs), and a whole bunch of paintings of naked ladies. It's like....luxurious in a tacky way, or tacky in a luxurious way. Something like that. But they do delicious cocktails. Pages and pages of them, and their vegan ones are clearly marked! We tried their Long and Luscious and their Espresso Martini -- both vegan and both amazing. We were here on a Sunday when it was quiet and peaceful. The vibe here is sort of dark, like you're in the basement lounge of a fancy mansion, even though you're not. If you want a lighter vibe, sit out front in their genteel patio area. Lots of clustered seating areas here so you don't have to share your space with other groups. Staff was nice and friendly but then again, it was a Sunday so not that busy. Prices are OK, given how astronomically priced cocktails are in Australia anyway. You can usually find a drink here to suit your budget -- although I do suspect the broke backpacker types who subsist on goon and cheap Tassie beer are not as welcome here as the folks who want to drop $18+ on a cocktail. Worth a visit if you're on Brunswick Street and want a nice cocktail in a place that's got an endearingly tacky boudoir atmosphere.

However, they still had some more reasonably priced beers available, and the bar itself was quite nice. In fact it was one of those old 1920s style speak easies, with some rather interesting paintings on the wall (including the ever present Chloe). It was rather quiet when I was here, but does get some more crowded on the weekends.

We sat in the bistro (no bar food for my dad, not on Father's Day at least) and every table was full of happy, chatty people, clearly enjoying their food. There was a real family atmosphere about the place but that may have been because of the particular day of the year that we were there. The bistro menu is made up of small, medium and large sharing plates, plus meats from the grill, sides and desserts. I remember the spicy quail, and I'm sure my dad does too - it was delightfully crispy-skinned with a touch of spice and lovely moist meat on the bone. The other Italian inspired dishes we tried were all delicious, although my dad did ask the waiter for Tabasco sauce, to which I offered a 'I'm sorry' look at the waiter. This is not a slight on the food as much as an insight into my dad's predilection for all things chilli. All in all, it was a a lovely lunch and I'm pretty sure that I'm now my dad's favourite offspring.
