Under Dr. Zachary Davis' care within days my father's eye looked so much better. The front staff Jenna, Courtney and Janice helped us navigate getting prior authorization from our insurance company. Great experience.

I went yesterday to see Dr Luchen Liu for an eye exam and had to wait nearly 2 hours past the…read moreappointment time to spend about one minute with her. (I was also seen by a staffer who did some eye tests.) Dr Liu did apologize for the long wait but I found the practice beyond disrespectful of my time. The atmosphere was chaotic and while I was sitting in the exam room I heard three staffers in the hall laughing and making jokes about a patient who complained about the long wait. Apparently they find it hilarious that anyone expects to be seen promptly at that extremely disorganized practice. I won't be returning there.

Unfortunately, had a horrible experience with the Riverhead office the other day. I took my…read more75-year-old father (who is a stroke patient with a speech/cognitive impairment) to his eye doctor appointment and was asked to speak to the office manager to discuss a previous large balance due. He was getting his first exam of the visit, and I usually sit in there with him to assist with his speech impairment. I was asked to leave the room to speak about the balance. Leaving him in there by himself. He was initially administered on shot of Avastin (eye injection) on his first visit a few months back (Sept). Of which his insurance mostly covered, and he had to pay a small balance of under $50. On his second visit in October 2024 he needed another injection. Only this time they administered Vabysmo instead of Avastin. During the time of this second visit, we were not given appropriate information (and I was sitting in the room during the visit the entire time) of the cost difference of this different drug injection and how much his insurance would require him to pay out of pocket. We were also not given the information of why the drug was being switched from Avastin to Vabysmo at the time he was given the injection (on this last visit I asked why the doctor made that decision and was told that Avastin was out of stock and there was a shortage). We also come to find out that the Vabysmo out of pocket cost was close to $450 for the one injection. Hence why he had a large balance due when we showed up to his third visit on 1/21/24. My father is an elderly man on a fixed income and does not have ample disposable monthly income to pay these large costs. I cannot understand why this information was NOT provided to us BEFORE the injection was given so that we could make the decision as to whether or not he could afford it. Instead of going ahead and giving it to him without ANY information prior. I spoke to a few people while at this recent office visit - and no one seemed to adequately provide me with information as to why this could have happened or supply a reasonable solution other to say that my father owes this balance and there was a payment plan he could set up to pay it back. Upon NEGLIGENCE on their part nevertheless! The office manager there seemed very understanding - and tried to offer a hardship application to us to help cover the cost of that injection. It was a 3-4 page application and tax return info would be needed to apply. But again, no guarantee that he would be approved. They also offer something called GoodDay Insurance as well but that's all upon acceptance and we were supposedly 'on a list' waiting for that to open up. While now waiting in the room for the doctor, an assistant is in the room and asks him to sign a screen to accept the administration of the drug. I stop her and ask her the name of the drug that he is signing for - she says Vabysmo. Are you kidding me?? After all this and letting them know that he can't afford that drug and needs to have Avastin instead - they were still having him sign off on Vabysmo again??? I told him not to sign and explained to her AGAIN what the issue is, and we would like to speak to the doctor. She leaves the room and comes back in and asks me to take the phone. I then speak to the person on the phone that handles the GoodDay insurance program who informs me that the hardship application that we were given by the office manager - would not be applicable to drugs, only other services/exams in the office if needed. So, the information the office manager had given us was incorrect. She also informs me that they could still give the Vabysmo injection that day and hopefully -but with NO guarantee - that he would be approved by GoodDay once it opened up. Or that possibly the doctor could agree to give him a sample or something this time around. She said she would speak to the doctor. But I told her that in order for me to agree to this, I wanted something in writing saying that my father would NOT be liable for another out of pocket expense this time around. I handed back the phone to one of the assistants and we waited again in the room. I couldn't believe the confusion among all that was happening there. And all the misinformation and/or LACK of information that we were given. At this point my father was getting extremely agitated and anxious seeing all that was going on and I began to get worried for his health. He was saying he just wanted to leave. So that's what we did. We walked out of the appointment and didn't even wait until the doctor returned. Upon leaving I told them there was too much confusion going on in that office and he wants to leave. They stared at me and said nothing. So, we left. My father should NOT be responsible for the large out of pocket balance due of that last Vabysmo injection. There was definite negligence on the part of the doctor and staff. He will not be returning as a patient.

I had a torn retina and Dr Poon performed lazer surgery in house. I just had eye surgery at Syosett Hospital performed by Dr Jessics Lee. Dr Lee performed the eye surgery under one hour. She did an excellent job in the repair of my eye and today I just had my eye checked and everything went exceptionally well. Lowering your diabetes and blood pressure will help immensely with avoiding any eye related problems in the future so take good care. Maximilian France

Charged me $935 for the frame, lenses, and coating. I asked them to hold the order and went home and verified their information about my vision insurance. Called vision insurance company and they sent me an email with the coverage info and yes, those items were covered. I was responsible for a $10 co-pay which was paid. When I went back with the information and spoke with the optical young girl that worked with me., she became enraged that I had proof. I cancelled the order and asked for a full refund plus co-pay. The young, snobby girl yelled at me telling me to get better vision insurance. As I left, I heard her say to her co-workers that she was enraged since she wasn't earning her commission on the sale since she was counting on a hefty commission check, and she doesn't like smart, mature customers like me that verify information. The others agreed.

Recently visited Sound Vision for swelling around my right eye. Saw the elder or "Sr."…read moreoptometrist. He prescribed drops, which helped but did not completely clear up the problem. He said it was probably a staph infection or allergies. Was scheduled to see "Jr." less than a week later. As usual, waited over two hours. When I finally saw the younger optometrist, he looked at my eyes briefly, made some notes on the computer and got me a moist compress for the remaining swelling saying, "We usually charge $25 for this, but I'll give it to you." I thanked him. I saw the same product on Amazon for under $18, which means he gets for even less. Anyway, I casually mentioned earlier I had been there since 11 AM and he said, "Thanks for your understanding." Next day, both eyes were swollen, I call and get an answering machine general mailbox. Leave a message. No call back all day and the next day. I went to an Ophthalmologist. Diagnosed with blocked ducts in both eyes, not staph infection or allergies. Given two prescriptions, moist heat compress regimen, new eye cleansing products for eyes, and a follow up appointment before I left. Patients beware.

If you follow a case of pink eye what are your chances of contracting it??? And with all the hype of the coronavirus not touching your eyes, face wash wash wash what about this practice's sanitary measures for all to witness. My best suggestion at this time would be steer clear of all health vacilities unless its a matter of life or death. Better safe than sorry.
