Pleasant one night stay, especially for the price. Needed a place within easy reach of WSU. Not fancy, but room was newly refurbished. Very easy check-in and -out all done by text even when arriving late after 10pm. Had no interaction with any staff (there's not really a front desk), so not sure how responsive they would be if you needed extra towels or something. Could sometimes hear the footsteps on the stairs from our upstairs room somwtimes, but it didn't keep us up at night or anything. We had to park on the street because their lot waa full, but plenty of parking on the street right in front. Safe neighborhood, with residential houses in back. We appreciated the binder of info and menus from local eateries. Wifi was so-so. Had coffee maker, small microwave, and fridge which we appreciated. For $59/night, would stay again! read more

I stayed here from April 26-28 in Room 14 and absolutely loved it. Check-in and check-out were super convenient, done entirely by phone and the keypad lock was easy to use. The bed was very comfortable, and I really appreciated the four big pillows! The room was spotless. They provided shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap via dispensers, which was a nice touch. There was also a fridge and microwave, which made the stay even more convenient. If I'm ever up this way again, I'd definitely stay here. read more

Overall a pretty decent experience. A small hotel on the south side of town that provides a good starting point to explore the area. The room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. A small A/C unit kept the room comfortable on a hot day. Bathroom is tiny and the fan sounded like a sick garbage disposal in my room. The cable tv crapped out after about 1/2 hour, but it's a smart tv and you could sign into your account on various services or watch some of the free streaming sites. Reservation was online and they communicated by text. Gave me my door code by text when check-in time came and texted a new code for checkout. Honestly really efficient. Very small parking lot, so a fair chance of needing to park on the street. There's a book that gives the menu and prices for the few places in town. Price is definitely right and I think provides good value. They do definitely like their citrus scented soaps. That's what's in the bathroom/shower and the sheets had a similar smell. Definitely not 4 star accommodations, but clean, quiet and comfortable and has a bit of character. read more

Clean rooms. The staff was so nice. We were NOT comped for the broken doorS or disgusting bathtub. The door lock device didnt work so we were given the key. I wouldn't recommend based on our room. If we had to stay there again, I would want a room where the tub was usable and doors worked. I would have given 5 stars if we had been comped for having a room in such disrepair for the staff and cleanliness. read more

My last visit was June 2024 and that was a good experience. So this post is a heads up. As a photographer I was not going to go to Palouse in 2025 due to hearing Steptoe Butte (a photographer and visitors landmark location) was closing for road repair during the summer 2025. My past visits were without issue other than the challenge of finding parking spots at the site location or finding convenient street parking close by. Am now working with my credit card company on a fraud case with Siesta. They had my CC on file from 2024 and stated I made a reservation in person (driving 5 plus hours across my state to do so) and then no-showed them. Odd, illogical and certainly not true. I never made a reservation in 2025 with them but they charged my card on file (did not know they kept cards on file) charging me as a no show. Sadly the owner and/or manager is/are not telling the truth about this situation and are fighting me on this fraud case. The owner lives in CA but may have a partner in WA state in Olympia. I reached out to the owner by text to discuss and rectify this charge and she was going to look into this and get back to me. Then she ghosted me. read more

Awesome bedding, sheets pillows. They even had make up remover, dental floss and Q tips. Staff was incredibly friendly. If u r a little handicap get the bottom floor! My daughter didn't thing about that when she booked the room. I so am going 2 stay there again my next visit!!!!!! read more

A gem of a motel! Smart TV, comfy bed, and thoughtful touches throughout (why yes I DO need a QTip and toothpick!). Was very happy to discover this affordable oasis after that trip from the dreaded Westside in a quaint little town that is so much more than the speed-trappiest of speed traps. (But seriously they really, really want you to drive 25mph, so just do it!) Everything you need is a short walk away, and if you haven't explored the shops and eateries in Colfax, you've been missing out. Go Cougs! read more

This hotel/motel does what a basic hotel needs to do. It is safe. It is very clean and comfortable. Yes, it is not the newest property I've ever stayed (I used to spend over 100 nights a year on the road). Simply, it does not pretend to be a resort destination. For me, function is more important over foo foo things like mints on the pillow and high thread count sheets. There are basic standard amenities like a refrigerator, microwave, free/reliable WiFi and coffee maker. The TV may be old school but there are a zillion channels to choose from. In retirement, I am a photographer these days. The Colfax location was Palouse ground zero. It couldn't be better located. I will say one disappointment was the few places to eat in town - not the motel's fault however. Based on posted "rules", I suspect there have been problems with people equating the modest room price with low class behavior. This place is a gem so please treat it right. Wife and I stayed here for five nights on the ground floor. It was comfortable clean and quiet enough. I made the reservation on their website and that worked fine. The staff was compliant and friendly. We don't like daily room service and they were happy to keep out of our temporary territory. The place is under recent new ownership and are actively working on upgrading things to allegedly include upgrading safety of bathtub to incorporate grab bar for safety. All rooms are non smoking, and there is no trace of cigarette stink. I would suggest upgrading of the chairs in the room to include at least one that has arms (old legs) and is comfortable to sit in and read. They don't have "breakfast", but we seldom get up early enough to partake in places that do. So, no biggie. The fridge, microwave and coffee maker worked fine. The kids live nearby, so as someone once said, "we'll be back". When they upgrade the bathroom safety, it will be a five star rating. Oh, no one ever answered the phone, but responses to email and text were forthcoming. read more

This was our second time at this place and of the two options in town this is the cheapest. The front desk was Friendly and greeted us promptly. While the room was OK - we had two beds and only one had a night stand. That means I had no place to put my cell phone or have a lamp to read with. Also the TV faced the other bed and I could not see it. They have good internet and a flat screen TV. When you are considering price - remember this one has no breakfast. The next part requires you to remember I am healthy but over 70. It is a old fashion hotel with a old fashion bathroom - bathtub and shower. There is no safety bar in the shower nor is the floor covered with non-slip coating - they do give you a rubber mat. We also had to carry suitcases up 2 floors. Obviously I stayed here twice and would probably stay again if we were in town. read more

This place has moved up a star for me. If there were ten more like it in the immediate area, maybe 3 stars, but price value ratio against the competition gets it the fourth star. It does very very well at what it tries to do which is be a manageable size for the staff they have and it is very well cared for. It is not new but everything is there ( no pay for view but 800+ DVDs and a player for rent. No flat screens but a 32 inch cathode ray set with cable). Room supplies are adequate ( 4 large bath towels in a double queen room) and a bistro sized table with three comfortable chairs. The breakfast at the Top Notch Cafe is much better than the breakfast at the Wheatland Inn and two seniors had a bill there this morning of $8.46 for two oat meals with a coffee and a tea and they have a singing waiter. It makes the competition seem sterile and lifeless. read more

Nice little "experienced" place and far more reasonable than the Wheatland Inn. Very clean and cared for. There is some traffic noise during the day (I had a bad cold, so spent more time in the room than I normally would), but things quiet down at a reasonable hour. They went out of their way to secure me a downstairs room so I wouldn't have to drag my camera gear up and downstairs before sunrise and after sunset. Definitely on my list for future Palouse visits. read more

Super convenient for people that have to go the county here. There is someone there throughout the night so if you are coming from the westside for a court date you'll definitely have a room. The rooms are clean. Beds aren't that comfortable but you get what you pay for. This is a local place so we would rather contribute to the locals than the best western down the street. Furniture and tv outdated but that just adds to the ambiance of colfax washington! GO COUGS! read more
