Graduated from this place a couple of months ago, and I'm writing this review because I still have…read morenightmares to this day, and I'm about to start college. Please spare your children and don't ever come here. I had an IEP, and the IEP teachers were chill. Everyone on my case was good, and I appreciated them, but when it came to the teachers at this school, Lord have mercy, they were the most annoying and unaccommodating teachers ever, especially the Econ and Government teachers. Please, it you have a child with a disability who likes to be discreet about it, don't send your child here. They have no respect for you or how you feel. I was hospitalized multiple times while attending this school due to attempts on my life, and when I came back, I had to deal with even more stress, especially from my 12th grade English teacher. This was the worst place of my life. Please spare your children. Visual and Performing Arts teachers are chill, though, probably the best part of the school. Besides that, every student in the academy is a dickhead, especially the Health and Medical Science students, and they spend all their money on sports. Meanwhile, the bathrooms stink. Terrible school.

As a parent of a future lifer at Sacramento Country Day, I can not express how happy we as a family…read morehave been over the past 9 years (so far Kindergarten through 8th, already signed our contract for HS!), with all of our experiences at the school. Academically, we could not find a better fit for our child. Country Day has allowed him to explore beyond a classic school day. With trips to the River, visits to the Crocker, exploration of the Effie Yeaw Nature Center as well as some of the great field trips out of town. In class experiences included dissection introduction in Lower School by the head of the HS Science Department, introduction to French and Spanish, daily PE, multiple art projects throughout the year that would often times tie with the main class curriculum, music programs to fill all of our parent hearts. Middle School (which any and every grown up knows can be the roughest time for kids, multiplied by covid for my son's experience) included Poetry competitions, March Madness - ping pong, electives to enrich and inspire your childs interests - pod casting, farm to fork, chess, knitting, finance, etc... Our son has had the opportunity to explore and learn with depth and creative teaching. Socially we have made lifelong friends, as the school truly gives families the opportunities to gather, whether those are through all school social events, parent events, volunteering (optional) with other parents to decorate for school events or even at morning coffee before a PA meeting. The school is more than a school, we are a family. I look forward to the next and final stage of our Country Day journey. HS is filled with opportunities for academic challenge, internships, community support (students, teachers, parents and grandparents), non-academic experiences - whether it's the Mock Trial team, Octagon newspaper, each year a week field trip, basketball with a retired professional, cross country with some of the most talented runners and coaches. The most important thing I can share is that the confidence our son has gained through the support of his teachers and his peers are what we as a family have always hoped for. He has no problem going to any one of his teachers or heads of school, to ask for help, share in his successes, and advocate for himself. A Country Day education is what your child and you want to put into it, the school is filled with opportunities.

And considering all the financial cuts The Arts usually gets, the students are lucky to have such a lovely, state of the art facility for productions. It holds about 400 audience members and the stage is of professional quality and size. A student interested in learning theater production would be fortunate to learn here with all the curtain mechanics, lighting, props, staging, etc. Back stage has separate make-up/dressing rooms for males and female performers. It's large enough to hold about 10 people getting ready in each room at the same time. The vanity mirrors are well lit for make-up application and the room has two sinks and long counter space. The only downside the back stage area is the bathroom situation. The women's room only has one toilet but another large "getting ready" area. The auditorium bathrooms on the other hand boast about 10 stalls for theater goers. All round, a great place to perform or watch a production!

From the moment we first stepped on campus which is now 5 years ago, it just felt different -- warm, welcoming, and full of energy. The teachers are incredible -- caring, attentive, and truly invested in each child's growth. The curriculum strikes such a great balance between strong academics and creative, hands-on learning. My daughter has grown so much in both confidence and curiosity since starting here and even visits her favorite teacher Ms. Castro. The sports programs are another huge highlight! There's such a great community spirit, and it's clear that the staff..shout out to Mr. Kennedy...values teamwork, leadership, and fun just as much as skill. What I love most is how inviting the environment is. You can feel the pride and positivity in everything from the classrooms to the playground. It's a place where kids are genuinely excited to go to school every day. I love every year they have been introducing new electives from sewing to DnD to even a T Swift club that is engaging for everyone. Be all in because now we're in a situation where we're being harassed by another student's parents. I come to them with my concern about safety and instead of addressing that concern they are sympathetic towards the aggressors. Certain staff like to pretend to mentor the kids (when they're not even qualified to do so) just for whatever concerning discovery made not to be shared with the parent. They gossip about rumors instead of putting an end to em. I'm so sick of this place. The brunt of my negative experience is because of their doing. They put it all in motion for it to happen. My child witnessed something really traumatizing there and the aftercare was non existent. No offers for counseling. No calls to me when the police spoke to my child. Like aren't they supposed to get my permission? I have a daughter at kjms who will be a freshman next year. I signed her up for El Camino so quickly. There is NO WAY I'd let her attend Encina. I want her around competent school staff. If this is your neighborhood school let them only attend for a year and get them out of their once lottery comes around. This guy was a real pos that never got laid and it's clear he hated jocks. Yeah I was talkative but thsi guy and ms reed made my life hell!
