The condo was about 10-15 minutes to the airport. Directly off Hayden Road. It was easy to find. While not exactly in the "hip part of Scottsdale (aka "Old Towne, Fashion Square, Kierland Commons") it was fairly centrally located. The condo had a small but nice living room. Directly off of that was a small, dining area. A small but adequately equipped kitchen. 2 bedrooms. 2 baths, which always comes in handy. Since we were going to be there for a month, brought all necessities. Close to nice restaurants ("Uncle Sal's, Carlsbad Tavern, The Side Door, Oregano's....the list goes on.) Had a great time here for a month.

Did my first load of laundry 9/2, washer is broken, doesn't spin so the clothes are just soaked. Report to landlord, isn't fixed until 10/2. Unqualified help mixed hot and cold hoses and had to come back out to fix a second time. Hole in bathroom wall at ground level around toilet water shut off. Didn't see it until keys were given. Notified landlord whom tells me it'll be fixed in November. 2 months? Talked with a friend who says shouldn't leave ground level hole it needs filled. Finally filled after asking several times a month later. Kitchen sink is leaking underneath. Landlord gets a plumber out here, I'm sure the cheapest he can find at $65. Guys don't fix leak at all. 10/20 notify landlord. He replies with a phone number for plumber, line has been busy for days. Finally notify landlord that on the 11th day I will hire a plumber to fix the leak. Response "A drip is not an emergency. The plumber found nothing wrong whe n he was there. I will take care of it on Saturday when I am back. You can put a bowl in the mean time. And if the plumber comes and finds nothing wrong again I will be charging you for the bill". There is most definitely a leak, I have a bowl catching the drip. I'm not an idiot. This guy seems to have not read the part about timely repairs in the AZ Landlord Tenant act. He's threatened me with sicking his business partner on me, he's threatened to not fix things, he yells at me and has nobody here to fix things when he's out of town. Worst experience to date! Sprinklers completely douse my car in my parking spot which has cost me $250 to have buffed out. HOA removed sprinkler at first then put it back. They couldn't care less about the damage their sprinklers cause. Be warned, any parking spot on Hayden Road pretty much gets hit by the sprinklers.

We chose Phoenix, specifically the Biltmore District, due to proximity to an international airport with a major airline hub, excellent walking score to upscale/contemporary restaurants and shopping, and general quality of life. After an exhaustive search, we chose to purchase in the Optima Biltmore Towers because the building met the above criteria and provided a luxury lifestyle experience with a vibrant community atmosphere. Additionally, during our due diligence period, we found the building to be extremely well managed both financially and operationally. The team at Brown Management, led by Lori, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Optima Biltmore HOA, have worked above and beyond to ensure that our investment is protected and the building is maintained, attractive, secure, and safe. Lori's team is extremely helpful and provides a truly personalized concierge service including package receipt, dry cleaning, assistance with vendors including house keepers and contractors, oversight of social events, weekly communication with residents and more. We are very pleased with our decision.

So the buildings are spaced far apart. There is abundant green space and a golf course, multiple facilities and pools, and an overall peaceful vibe. My unit faces Camelback mountain and makes for epic sunset evenings on the patio. Some people leave bad reviews when the HOA managements changes things, but people always complain when there is change. Obviously the HOA only makes changes to improve the property and living experience. I love my little condo here; have owed it since 2014.

The condo was in my name, but during the two years I lived here, no one from management ever contacted me directly about paying the mortgage or sending statements. Instead, all communication went to my boyfriend at the time. He later told them to remove my contact email, so I never received any mortgage statements myself. The point is that he was just my boyfriend at the time, yet they communicated with him instead of the actual owner. Another difficult part happened during the move-out process. I hired a moving company to move heavy items, and because I wanted to avoid damage and also save money, I personally went back and forth with them and supervised every single item being moved. The move itself went very carefully. However, after we moved out, management claimed that there was major damage to the hallway wall and withheld the security deposit. I asked if I could see camera footage or evidence of the alleged damage, but I was told the move-out process was already finished and I could not access the hallway to verify anything myself. I am not refusing to pay for legitimate damage if it truly occurred. I simply believe that residents should be able to review clear evidence before being charged for something like this. This community has many older residents, and I truly hope situations like this are handled with transparency so everyone feels treated fairly. The movers who helped me worked very carefully, and I hope they were not unfairly blamed for something they did not do. We only moved a few pieces of furniture and were careful not to hit the walls. I simply believe that if money is being taken from a deposit, proper documentation or proof should be provided. Yes , they took $200. When moving out of this condo, make sure to record everything and take photos of everything carefully.
