It was so quick to request it online, have it sent to Fletcher, and pick it up. Now that's just too easy, so you should try it too.

So much potential for absolutely cool design and historic references inside. Sadly, I was severely let down. We came in the back, and when we opened out into the main level front area, it was an open room with some tables/chairs in the middle (they looked like card tables covered with a paper tablecloth...?). There was no great study space in here, just odd tables dropped in an open room, with nowhere apparent other space to go. Off on the side there was a decent sized art exhibit of water color paintings. While they were nice paintings, it didn't solve my library study space issue. We found our way upstairs, with a small open space that had very few tables, and then a large, open computer room. The rest of the upstairs seems to be the children's space. While I can understand the challenges of coming into a building that was designed to be something else, I was a bit underwhelmed by the different area setups. The upstairs computer section was actually pretty nice, though used a lot of space unnecessarily while any/all other spaces seemed to suffer. Not to mention, aside from the children's section, there were very few books in the library. I'm sure there very plausibly could be an explanation to this, but to me it seems like a work in progress and not worth a visit yet. The three stars is more for the potential here.

Her reply was, 'Sorry, no room'. So much for no registration. I will rethink joining them for any event in the future since I have to drive 1 1/2 hrs. to attend the classes.

There is parking right out front of the museum and in the lot that belongs to the neighboring park as well. One of the best parts of the museum, and there are many, is that it is free. The museum has a meeting/conference area on the 2nd floor, where chairs are situated in a square around the room's perimeter. The museum is small but packed. It is also well organized. There are no guides and there was only one guy sitting at the front desk at the entrance and he never left his post. Some of the more notable exhibits in the museum include the General MacArthur exhibit on 2nd floor. General MacArthur was actually born in Little Rock.....who knew? There is also a large exhibit on Asian Americans that fought in WWII, women suffrage posters/cartoons and a Jeep display. I highly recommend checking this museum out. I really enjoyed my time here and learned a lot. Douglas MacArthur is an interesting historical figure; while the place unsurprisingly paints a favorable picture of him, the museum presents some controversy for the viewer to think about. It isn't fancy, but it does allow the viewer to make up his or her own mind, and there's plenty to ponder.
