I found Danielle and Jared, the owners of Side by Side, online. Upon reaching out, I spoke with Danielle and she was super easy-going and professional. It was stress-free working with them -- they asked me to fill out a page or two about my preferences, we had a phone call a few months before our wedding to meet each other, and then got back in touch about a month before my wedding date about scheduling and logistics. The day of, Danielle and Jared reflected that same easy-going attitude. They worked with my photographer to partner up when it made sense to. They worked really well as a team (they are husband and wife, after all :) ). As a bride, my definition of an amazing vendor is when they're quiet. This might be a weird thing to say, but that's when I know that they're professional and confident, and for a videographer, able to focus on capturing as much footage as possible without getting in the way of any other vendors. We got our videos a few weeks after our wedding and they're SPECTACULAR. They gave us a couple of videos to help capture different elements of the day (highlight, ceremony, reception, and bonus footage). Nothing felt overproduced or undervalued -- they truly hit the mark on showing how our wedding was, representing every element really well. The end result looked natural and reflective of our day. I'll be honest - I initially didn't think getting a videographer was worth the added expense - my now wife proved me wrong (not the 1st time & not the last of course)!  I've watched the videos more than she has already.  Priceless memories captured in motion really helped absorb the moments in time.  When you're in the midst of your wedding you don't get the chance or time to fully grasp everything that is going on right in front of you because you're pulled in so many directions at once.  Video really helped to re-live the event and see the finer details of the night that we missed the first time around. Danielle & Jared were very courteous with their set-up and got fantastic shots of our procession, ceremony, recessional, reception, etc. The microphone planted on me was unnoticeable and the sound came out really clear and didn't sound muffled or too loud during our vows. Wow...what to say...our wedding videos turned out amazing. And that's an understatement! Danielle and Jared really understood our humor and represented our wedding the way we imagined. Before our big day, we had a chat with both of them but in reality we trusted their creative choices for our wedding. During the wedding, Danielle and Jared were everywhere making sure each moment was caught in camera. A few weeks later, we received our video in a cute package. Depending on the package you decide on, we got a highlight film, a feature film, the ceremony, the reception and all the raw footage. The best part of their work is the audio. At the end of the day, the audio is the most important part and they nailed it! Nothing was clipping or hard to hear. Also, the camera angles and camera movements were cinematic! Danielle and Jared really know their gear. Lastly, the storytelling in the feature film was amazing. I was pleased with the edit and b-roll during the vows. There are two things I really feel like a couple should invest in when it comes to their wedding--their photos and their video. They're the only things really for you at the end of the day, as the alcohol, dinner, flowers, etc are really just to impress your friends. Jared & Danielle are completely worth that investment. We randomly found SidebySide online doing research on a potential wedding site and really loved the wedding video we were watching. So we investigated who made the video and it was done by Danielle and Jared. They are a husband and wife combo and let me tell you, they know their stuff! We watched other videos on their site and just continued to fall in love with them. Once we found our wedding site was going to be in Long Beach, we were thrilled they were still willing to make the drive. The two of them work so well together, they are on walkie talkie constantly communicating with each other and just seemed to be in all the right places the entire wedding. They even had 3 camera angles during the ceremony. They had every key moment in our video and did an amazing job at capturing the moment of the evening. As we watched the video it brought back all the exact emotions we had the night of our wedding. The transitions were smooth and they found great clips to match with the music we picked out ahead of time. They may be just a little pricey but let me tell you, IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY! They caught what my photographer didn't get. On the DVD we got pre-ceremony footage, ceremony footage and reception footage. All lasting a little over an hour. Hiring the perfect Videographers was one of our top priorities for our wedding. I've been a bridesmaid for 7 weddings now and more often than not I would see videographers make the bride and groom recreate scenes over and over and over again - to point where it would completely take a way from the intimacy and authenticity of the actual events of the wedding. They were demanding and determined to get their shots in. Danielle and Jared were far from that! They didn't make us do anything outside of normal and were literally ninjas of their craft! Though nothing was staged or forced by them, our final video still showed as a fairytale movie with state of the art sound, video, and drone shots of our entire venue. They captured everything! They blended so with well with our guests that we didn't know some shots were even being recorded until we received the final edit. What I LOOOVEED most about their work was their editing of the final product. The chronological flow, the music choice, the scenes, guests reactions, the audio from the speeches, the way my husband looked at me...it's exactly how I remembered my wedding - absolutely Perfect! What really brought tears to my eyes about the final video was the song they chose to use in the background. We thought it perfectly described us so well and it was only through their attentiveness and their dedication and time to get to know us, that they would choose a song so perfect for us. As full time Wedding Photographers and Wedding Cinematographers ourselves, we are very picky with whom we would hire to capture our wedding day. We chose to hire Side by Side Cinema for our wedding cinematography needs and couldn't have made a better decision. We were looking for real professional STORYTELLERS. (something that you only find in 10% in all of the wedding cinematography industry) At our client consultation meeting, Jared and Danielle were very kind, friendly, outgoing and didn't provide a "fluff" marketing approach. They were REAL people who are passionate about their craft. Coincidentally and a BONUS to know is that they also won a StillMotion competition locally that I had won as well in the Bay Area back in 2011. StillMotion is considered the "Michael Jordans" of wedding cinematography and are now educators in the wedding industry who are now doing 90% commercial/hollywood work. They are top Emmy award winners in their first year. So upon hearing this, I already knew their work was going to be top of the line. And indeed it was! Our wedding day at the Hotel Palomar was a disaster with so many things going wrong PRIOR to, the DAY OF and AFTER the wedding (ALL from hotel staff ONLY and NOT any of our external wedding day vendors: Coordinator, Photographers, Cinematographers, Florist, Lighting, etc... ). Additionally, it was the biggest storm in San Diego in years which affected our locations for photography and cinematography. Regardless of the negative external factors which made the day rough, Jared and Danielle captured all the MOMENTS and OUR STORY so PERFECTLY! I can go on and on and ramble about how professional, dedicated, passionate, friendly, talented, educated, skilled, etc..etc..etc.. that Jared and Danielle are... but in all honesty, it doesn't do me any justice with this review to explain how forever grateful and happy my wife and I are with their storytelling, work, and service. You would have to go meet with and hire them yourselves to experience the same joy and assurance we have had throughout the whole process with Jared and Danielle. Side by Side had shot two of my closest friends weddings a couple years back and I loved their work so when I got engaged I was so happy that they were availble to shoot at our wedding.
