Robert did an excellent job on my hair cut. If you need a hair cut I recommend Robert.

I used to live a block away and found this place when it first opened nearly 15 years ago. Since…read moremoving down south, I still make the trip. Booking, canceling, and changing appointments are so easy--all online. The barbers/stylists are quite the mix. Some are permanent fixtures, while others come and go like any business. I recently found a new barber here, HENRY. He is phenomenal. Although I am nearly bald, I get a h/c about every 2 weeks, and I don't mind paying full price, given Henry's superb attention to detail. He makes me feel like I've had a spa day makeover! While other guys just buzzed my head and used a trimmer on the back (stylists can't use a straight razor, I've learned), Henry is an experienced, pro barber. He attends to the littlest of hairs, examining every angle of my head. He attends to my ears, brow, skin (always moisturizes my scalp), and uses a razor to make the neckline stellar. He wraps it up with a light aftershave thing that leaves me feeling refreshed! It's the details that set apart a good haircut from a truly exceptional one. Plus, did I mention what a great guy he is? Having lived abroad, being from the Midwest, and being college-educated, he's a joy to talk to. Suggestions: The place could use a makeover. The once "cool" graphic (kind of wallpaper) flooding the wall is dated, and the bathroom needs a remodel. Nonetheless, JBG remains my go-to. Check it out!

Why I Stick With Mark at Jimmy's?…read more Jimmy's Barber Garage in Midtown has been my go-to spot for haircuts since I first moved to Sacramento. My guy is Mark, and honestly, he's the reason I keep coming back. I wandered off to try another place for a while, but ended up returning here for a good reason--he just gets it. The vibe is casual, the price is right, and the service is solid. Mark is especially great for guys like me with thinning hair--he knows how to work with it, makes you feel comfortable, and always leaves me walking out more confident than I walked in. Now, the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5: the booking system. They only open up appointments 3 days ahead. For someone who likes to plan in advance (or suddenly needs a quick cleanup before an event), it can be tricky--especially since I only want to book with Mark. Sure, if you don't mind who cuts your hair, you can usually get in quick because there are multiple barbers available. But for me, it's Mark or nothing. One cool touch: they'll offer you a beer if you ask. The place itself looks like an auto garage, but don't be fooled--the service is way sharper than the décor suggests. If you're looking for a solid cut, especially if you want someone who knows how to handle thinning hair, ask for Mark. Closing Note: Midtown has plenty of barbershops, but Jimmy's (and especially Mark) makes it worth the return trip every time. #HaircutDoneRight #Jimmy'sGarage

Depression and a deep level of social anxiety had silenced the part of me that once took joy in the art of self-care and self-expression. Caring for my appearance felt too self indulgent, even pointless. Because of this, my hair has sat neglected, mullet-shaped, and directionless and quickly became a symbol of how disconnected I'd become from myself. I didn't know what I wanted when I sat in her chair because I hadn't felt allowed to want anything in a long time. But, Audrey met me there--with some compassion, a lot of patience, and a level of attentiveness I didn't know barbers actually gave without being a lifetime client. She asked about my history with my hair, how I've felt in it, when I've felt most like myself with it. She actually listened like it mattered. And somehow, from my fumbling socially awkward quiet answers, she miraculously shaped something that felt not just flattering, but also true to me. The cut was perfect, but it was more than that. It was the first moment in a long time where I felt seen and gently reintroduced to myself. Audrey didn't just restore my hair today, she helped restore a sense of agency I thought I'd lost. She's not just a barber. She's an artist, a guide, and for me, a quiet turning point. I'll be back--and if you're searching for more than a cut, you should go, too.

If he weren't so popular, I'd get my haircut more frequently. The atmosphere in here is also really something. It's friendly and welcoming, with a bit of edge. Conversation sometimes encompasses the whole place. Dare I say the owner has created a community center. Well done team!

To me, that speaks to high quality service that she provides. I have short / medium length asian hair. I get a combover and high quality fade here. Aly has made several suggestions to my cut that I've adapted, which I really appreciate about her. In terms of vibe, it's a pretty standard set up. Bunch of seats. Doesn't lean into the upscale or modern aesthetic, but not that cookie cutter feel by any means. Very eclectic on the inside. Definitely appeals to early 90s kid and to no surprise given that the average barber seems to be in the 30s to early 40s. They always have a throwback movie or show playing, or baseball. This is a great spot for anyone looking. I rec'd Aly, but the general sense is that everyone is elite here.
