When Mom had her heart attack a few weeks ago, everyone I knew who had experience with cardiologists recommended Nahlawi, even if it meant to switch cardiologists while still in the hospital. FYI - Strong referrals to see ANY of the doctors in the practice as quite a few people have had heart issues lately. Although it was somewhat challenging to get someone live to book the appointment, when I got through, the staff was helpful and friendly. We were able to get in relatively soon. We checked in, were taken to a room quickly and saw him pretty shortly thereafter. I see why so many want to get in to see Dr. Nahlawi. His bedside manner, kindness, reassurance and practicality brought us such peace and comfort. He came up with a sensible plan and next steps. So grateful to have been led to this practice.

Not to mention the first thing he recommended to her without doing any kinds of diagnostics was the surgical implant of a loop recorder. After several visits with no answer to the issues that she brought to him, she was given the run around for about a month. Upon her looking for a second opinion, she almost has a heart attack after exercising. Once again, after seeing this man, that's supposed to be a "medical professional" my wife almost had a HEART ATTACK. She got her second opinion, there must be a code of silence for Doctors cause her new Dr. didn't bad mouth the old one, but he seems to understand that you have to actually listen to patients. My wife is an RN and I have a degree in Health and Wellness. Sounds like this place is more interested in how much money that can leech off of you and not your actual health and well being. I found I did not have a follow up appoint scheduled after some extensive heart therapy. I will get in a week later than I hoped, since I kept dogging the issue. Otherwise it would be weeks later. One of them yanked a cath out of my arm after a blood draw and my sleeve was soaked. They've cancelled my therapy a few times. I tried to cancel it and was told I would have to pay for it because it was less then 24 hours prior. It was 19 hours prior. I have a sinus infection and I'm exhausted, but I'm going. Don't deal with these girls. It's not worth it.

My youngest son has recently had a hearing exam, and it was recommended he get hearing aids. The Libertyville audiologist said the schools use a certain type of hearing aid that she doesn't carry so we should go to the office/audiologist in Gurnee. I scheduled the appointment and we met with the audiologist there. She brought us back and the first thing out of her mouth was your insurance doesn't cover hearing aids, so I am going to create an account for you with another company. I said that seems odd to me. Especially since Illinois passed a law a few years ago that insurance companies have to offer coverage for kids. I called BCBS while sitting there and got straight though. I explained that they will cover the hearing aids. She said oh, ok. Well let's get them ordered. She had my 7-year-old son pick them out and what colors he wanted. She said we will need to come back in 2 weeks for them. When we went to leave, I asked if she will have all of the insurance info and exact amount I need to pay. She said here, Ill write it down. She gave me an amount for out of pocket. She called the other day and said they were in. I asked her if she spoke to the insurance company and how much is being covered. I wanted an exact amount. She said she couldn't ever get through to them. I said how come you didn't send a pre authorization? She then responded; we don't do that. What??? How is it over the course of 3 weeks, you couldn't ever get through to the insurance company. I had my husband call to figure out what was going on. He went back and forth. He called the billing department and they explained that every audiologist was separated from the actual doctor's office and they are all in charge of their own appointments, billing, etc. Um, OK. That would have been nice to know as well. Then finally my husband speaks to the audiologist who says, well the reason they are so expensive is because I had them expedited. So, I am going to return them and go through a 3rd party company and if you owe anything it will only be $100. Your insurance company will cover it. How would she know this when she hasn't spoken to them?!?!?!?! Well, I didn't approve of this either. None of this makes sense. Who is this 3rd party company, is it legit. Why now will I only owe $100. Will my son get what he originally picked out? All I can say is this. I'm looking for another audiologist. I am sick of this BS. This has been the most frustrating and disheartening experience I have ever had, especially with a Dr office. Especially when we find out my 7-year-old needs hearing aids, this is all new to us and has NOT been pleasant at all or easy. I DO NOT recommend Lake County ENT Gurnee to ANYONE.
