Nous avions réservé via Opodo Prime une voiture chez Sicily by Car à l'aéroport de Palerme (12 au 24 août). - Présents à l'heure le jour J avec tous les documents, mais uniquement cartes de débit (leurs propres conditions indiquent qu'elles sont acceptées à Palerme avec dépôt via virement). - L'agent refuse la remise du véhicule, prétextant obligation carte de crédit. - Nous revenons le lendemain avec la preuve officielle de leurs conditions et la possibilité de faire un virement immédiat de la caution. - Ils refusent en prétextant que la réservation est annulée après 2h... alors que nous étions venus à l'heure la veille et que le refus venait d'eux. Résultat : 500 € de réservation perdus, obligés de louer en urgence chez Avis Budget pour 900 € supplémentaires. Coût total de l'arnaque : 1 400 €. Smart for two cost me €46 online on some rental car search engine and directly here cost €37. Huge accidental damage or theft excess fee (€900 - €2000). Can be insured for additional sum, but that's not right. Staff speaks English very well. On return of the car they didn't check fully for all potential scratches. Only tank level. That I liked. One minus, that you can't leave car during closed office times. Maybe you could drop it off at air port, but not in down town. Don't rent smart for other than city drive. I rented a car with Sicily by Car at rentalcars.com. The experience with the car was okay. Our surprise came when, 3 months later, there were 2 charges in my credit car for 61 EUR each. When confronted, they answered that "For every infringement local transit authorities contacts the supplier in order to provide the name and all necessary about the driver who drove the vehicle at the date of the offense, so that the authorities can forward you the penalty for your address together with details about the offense, dates, times and locations, as well as the value the means of payment. By providing your data to local authorities, the supplier charges an administration fee for each one of the fines in the amount of 61 EUR. This is in line with the terms and conditions of the lease signing on site." Did they charge us 122 EUR to provide information? YES! This is totally unacceptable! I read the terms and conditions before I rented the car and this abusive amount charged for the administrative fee was never shown.. So I never agreed with that! They extort money from those who trusted your services. Don't trust them! read more

I rented a car through rentalcars.com and they supplied me with Sicily by Car. The rates were relatively cheap and decided to go with them. Unfortunately I didn't do a review check on Sicily by Car before I went over to Sicily. I should have!!!!! Got to Palermo Airport, went to pick up the car. My friend and I had to wait 2 hours in line before we got to the desk. The chap behind the desk did not even have the decency to apologise for the wait. Unreal! They insisted on putting a €1000.00 hold on my debit card as insurance. I thought this was a lot, but didn't have a choice so signed the form. When he handed over the keys, he pointed out that the car takes diesel. I then asked him if he is sure about that and he said yes, it is definitely diesel. It turned out the car was in fact petrol NOT diesel. Thank goodness I noticed this before I filled up. Any how. I stayed in Sicily for a week, drove the car without incident and returned the car with a FULL tank of petrol at 7:15AM. This is a decent time, right? There was not a soul to check the car back in at this time. I was very surprised about this, because it is a busy time of the day at the airport with people catching early flights. Any how, I dropped the keys through the collection box, thinking everything is all good. A WEEK LATER I HAD CHARGES OF MORE THAN €300 MADE TO MY DEBIT CARD!!!! They claim that one of the wheels has been damaged and that I returned the car without a full tank of petrol. Shocked, I ran checks on the internet about the company and was horrified about what I found about this company. I have clearly been a victim of their fraudulent actions. I contacted rentalcars.com immediately by sending an e-mail and I phoned them. The lady on the line told me someone will get back to me. I heard back from them 2 weeks later saying that they have received paperwork from Sicily by Car confirming the damage to the car (NO PHOTOS) and that the case is considered closed. I emailed back saying that I can not accept this... Long story short. It has been over a month now and the matter is still not resolved and in my mind I know I will probably lose. It makes me terribly angry that a company can get away with this. Who has the time and money to take a matter like this to court? I am outraged! read more
