I've stayed at Cedars about 3 or 4 times now and there are things that I love and do not love about…read moreit. It's right off of the Trans-Canada Hwy, so it's easily accessible. Rates are not cheap but prices do include hot water showers and flush toilets. The women's restroom facility is not fancy and even though I appreciate the toilets, I find the showers a little greebly and actually prefer to use my camping shower when the weather is nice. The facility can get very busy because of the amount of women using the two available showers as well as the electrical outlets for hairdryers, etc. It's not cleaned as often or as thoroughly as it could be (although I know its cleaned once per day for sure) and they allow for a build-up of spider webs, which grosses me out because there are usually large spiders in them. Nonetheless, it certainly is better than a rotten smelling port-a-potty. There are some great, roomy tent sites with decent picnic tables. Others have very shoddy tables with minimal privacy and shade. The campground itself doesn't seem to get very busy so if you arrive early enough, you can get your pick of sites. As a group, we get the same one every year because we feel it's the best of the non-serviced tent sites (#67). It has shade, privacy, lots of room for two tents and vehicles and there's a water tap beside it. You can purchase necessities at the store such as wood, ice and snacks. The wood is always dry and the pieces are small enough that you can use a hatchet instead of an axe. I prefer to purchase everything else before I arrive or in Sicamous, which is about a 10-15min drive away. There's also a laundry facility, pool and hot tub in the main building, but I've never used them. I've walked around the RV park, which I think is lovely and very family friendly. The restrooms are considerably nicer. I will keep coming back to Cedars because it's peaceful and can get really hot weather. You definitely feel like you've escaped the city.

Travelling west, we found turning into the place on an undivided portion of the Trans-Canada highway to be a bit of a pain in the ass, but once inside, you could clearly see that this place was cared for. It is beautifully maintained with big beautiful cedars and pine trees and well kept greens. Along with ample areas to put trash, they also recycle plastic and glass. Our spot was not really a sheltered area, and felt more like we were parked on a lawn beside other campers. For us it really wasn't an issue. Being a pull-in, pull-out site is higher on the priority list and this is what we had. Although this campground welcomes folks like us that only plan to spend the evening and then head out again, it seems that this campground is filled more with seasonal campers that mind their own business or maybe tend to be a little apprehensive about us stay for one night only folk. The bathrooms and showers are kept very clean. My only disappointment is the lack of kid's equipment to play. However, being that this place caters mostly to seasonal campers that are seem to be of retirement age, it's probably not high on their list of things to have. If you're going to stay in a campground in the area, kids or no kids, this is the one I would recommend.

I guess they have horses but don't take in consideration that their guests have to smell it!! The other problem was that there didn't seem to be anyone around taking care of the place. We would never stay there again.

(Tents are allowed but it wasn't clear if a tent trailer counted and we were happy to book another site and there were plenty available). Anyhoo the woman in the office said no problem the tent trailer is fine so long as it does not block anything. Cool. Well our friends arrive and start setting up. Grounds guy asks us 'did you check with the office?' and we say 'yes'... he drives off. An hour or two later he comes back and says 'Sam says you have to move it.' It is now 7 or 8pm. We push back and eventually go to speak with Sam. After some back and forth with a very disagreeable manager who is blaming us for this mistake (while the woman who told us it was ok was right there saying she told us it was ok) Sam bitterly tells me 'to go and enjoy my friends'. Well thank you for making your office's mistake not our problem seeing as it was just one night and clearly their error. Well the next day Sam is circling our site. Hovering around us. Snapping at us and our friends- oh... and their preteen and teenage daughters. Why is she even engaging with the kids? Barking at us this needs to be gone (the tent trailer they ok'ed then said changed their minds about). No rush, we were staying until the following day but she is insisting they need to go at 11am because why?! Their stuff and bags are sitting right in front and they are visibly packing up to go and she says 'I'm giving you an hour and you better be gone.' Anyways our friends leave we figure problem solved and proceed to get ready with our two small children to go to the beach... we were booked until the following day. Nope- Sam shows up again 'I don't understand why you are still here?!'. Excuse me what do you mean they left... well what she meant was we needed to go also... are you kidding me we thought?!? Nope because she came back 20 minutes or so after that and said she had called the police and dropped a file number written on a piece of paper on the ground under the rock and walked off. We had already started packing up at that point and were pretty bummed but feeling quite attacked. Sad little ones because they thought we were going to the beach but instead it was 'sorry boys we are going home'. I did follow up with the police file and the officer I spoke with said not much I could do and that to them it sounded quite spiteful- and even said they were sorry we were going through this... Even as we were packed up and leaving, trailer being towed behind our truck that Sam could see, we popped by the office as Sam said she was refunding us for our last night. She twisted it a little more with a 'I'm not refunding you until you leave the property'. Ok Sam... hope that made you feel good. Thanks for a horrible end to our summer. We were planning to come for two or three weeks next summer. We even spoke with the sales team because we were toying with buying a site. Neither of these things will be happening.

It we spoke with locals from other pets of the lake and they said this area was bad for Mosquitos. Almost did not return. But came for August and it was much better. Would have come back and gave this place a much better rating. However, due to a bad experience with a manager that put a huge damper on the end of our trip. My family is not going back. It was so bad and so unprofessional I cannot understand why this manager works with the public at all. We were planning a 5 week stay for next August and looking at maybe purchasing a lot. We met some great families during or 3 weeks of holidays. But will not return unless management changes and improves customer relations.
