Family ran business, eager to help you get going on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Conveniently located right in the heart of Damascus. Each bike comes with a flat tire repair kit in a small bag. Helmets are optional but they did have plenty in nice condition to choose from. They shuttle you up to the top of the trail at White Top. Adults $26 Children $24 I think we did get a 10% discount for having a larger group. We will definitely use this bike rental place again! *my only suggestion would be a locker room type situation for those who come off the trail muddy BUT they were nice enough to offer us a box to put our muddy wet items in. read more

They provide quality bikes (Giant brand bikes) and helmets. Everything went very smoothly and they made our trip down the VA Creeper Trail a wonderful experience. I have used a couple of different bike shops in Damascus for the Virginia Creeper Trail and this is by far my favorite! First of all, their prices are cheaper than a lot in the area. I assumed that this may be in relation to the quality of the bikes, but I was pleasantly surprised. They offer high quality, name brand bikes that have been well taken care of. Each bike is stocked with a small repair kit, which I thought was a thoughtful touch. The staff is really friendly and seemed excited for each and every person about to jump on the trail. With so many people checking in and out, I was impressed how quickly and cheerfully they moved through the line. The shuttle driver was friendly and chatted with passengers all the way up to the drop off point. Each rider is given a bottle of water to put in their bike's bottle holder. These people are top notch and certainly start your adventure off on the right foot! read more

Our favorite bike shop in Damascus! The owners provide great service and are so accommodating. We had the unfortunate experience of backing into something on our trip and messed both of our bikes up. We took them over in the morning to see if they were fixable. I fully expected to go ahead and rent bikes. However, he had our bikes fixed in no time and he tested them out for reliability. We were good to go for a very reasonable charge. He could've easily said he would work on them later so we would have to rent bikes. We've always enjoyed the good service at this shop and now we have a new appreciation for them. I simply do not understand anything less than a 5 star review for this outstanding experience. We have now ridden the Creeper Trail 7 or 8 times and couldn't imagine using another service. Gary and Jennifer are the charming best friends you haven't met yet. Their service is warm, welcoming and highly personalized. The trail itself is phenomenal. We have ridden in all seasons and every one holds it's own charm. Through mountains and hidden valleys over 42 (or three) bridges that zigzag back and forth across the river all the way down 17 luscious miles of breathtaking beauty. This was a great place to rent bikes for the creeper trail. All we brought were ourselves. They provided bike rentals, helmets, a bottle of water and the shuttle ride to Whitetop. My bike had a broken water bottle holder, but the bike bag they provided was able to hold the water no big deal. The 930 shuttle was pretty full, but the 10 shuttle had a little less people which was nice. The lady we rented from was great. Super nice and helpful. They fitted us for the bikes and gave us a number to remember for each bike. The signs they have at the end to direct you back to the shop were good, but I feel like maybe one or two more signs where to make the other turns would be helpful. read more

Had a great experience renting our bikes from the Shuttle Shack. We reserved our bikes in advance of our arrival time but ended up being late due to traffic. We called to let them know we were going to be late and was told 'no problem, see you when you get here'. When we arrived they sized us for our bikes and took us up to the drop off for the Virginia Creeper Trail. They provided us a bike kit in case of a flat tire and a bottle of water each. The trail ride is either 17 or 34 miles depending on what you want to do. The best thing is that they did not set a limit on our time to have the bikes back. So you do not feel rushed by the clock and can enjoy the trail and stop along the way to rest or explore the area. The only downside was having to cross the main road at the end of the ride to return the bikes. But I would still rent here before the other shops in town. They are very courteous and I wish them good luck on their success. read more

I have went to Shuttle Shack twice now and it has been a great experience both times! The most recent time I went, I ended up having my bike break and they met me at the nearest cross road and replaced my bike. It was super convenient and they were super nice about everything. I plan on using them every time I go to the creeper trail! read more

Shuttle Shack is amazing!! I went on a family bike ride from White Top to Damascus and we rented bikes from Shuttle Shack and used their services to get to the top of the mountain, which was very convenient. There were 15 of us total and we all had a great time. The customer service was excellent, it is a small family-owned shop and the owners were so nice. Their daughter even helped give us water bottles and our helmets, and was so sweet! The reason I am giving them 5 stars (and wish I could give 6) is because they really went above and beyond in helping us out... I was the only one in our group who brought my own bike and it just so happened that I got a flat on the trail about 6 miles into the ride. All of the bikes rented through Shuttle Shack came with spare tubes, and none would fit my bike (it's what I get for not being prepared or just renting with the group!) We called Shuttle Shack just to ask where a repair shop may be along the trail, and Gary, the owner, came out in his van with a rental bike for me and took my busted bike back to the shop with him. He certainly didn't have to do that, especially considering I hadn't rented a bike and what went wrong was my own fault. He was very kind about it and even rode up the trail in reverse (a steep climb!) to get my bike. In a world where customer service isn't always at the forefront of business' minds, Shuttle Shack went above and beyond and helped us have an incredible day. The Creeper Trail is just gorgeous! It's an easy, family-friendly downhill and flat ride that made for a great family memory. Gary and his family at Shuttle Shack helped make our day even more memorable! This place is awesome! Provided great service and great bikes. I was a little skeptical about using bikes from a service like this but the bikes were first class, comfortable and they provided us with water and a tire repair kit. The ride up in the van was easy and not scary at all considering the switch backs and pulling a load of bikes. Will definitely be back and will definitely use this service again! read more

Cannot recommend. Chose this shop based on the 5-star reviews. Attempted to rent a bike for a full day with no shuttle needed on a Tuesday with temperatures forecasted to be over 90F. Arrived at 8:30am. There were 3 cars in the parking lot. I must have seen 300+ bikes in inventory. She ruffled through what looked like a reservations book and I was told that they were "sold out" for the day. Really? On a hot summer Tuesday? I then went to a shop down the street (which had better bikes) and had a bike and a helmet in 5 minutes. I don't know if someone was just having a bad day or was just picking and choosing their customer but I didn't see 200 people on the trail the entire day and I rode the entire length so there was certainly enough bike inventory to accommodate walk-ins. Do yourself a favor and choose elsewhere. read more

Whether you call or make online reservations, this outfitter will take care of you. Need a bike too? No problem, they've got ya covered. Reasonably priced, friendly and even with a fully booked van, we departed right on time, no delays. The van was very comfortable and clean, good shocks, safe driver (Ian!) unlike another bike shuttle service in Damascus we have used. Race or wind down the 17 mile trail back to Damascus or continue on to Abington. What a great start to a fantastic day. read more

Our small group used the Shuttle Shack in July, and we were very pleased with their service. We walked in without a reservation, and they were able to get us on the next shuttle. They did not provide water like many of the other shops in the area, but did provide a tire repair kit, which was a plus. The woman (owner) even told us to remind her and she would give us a 10% discount next time. She was very pleasant. We decided to use them again this past weekend. This time I went on-line and made a reservation through their website. BAD IDEA! I made the reservation on Thursday prior to the Saturday we wanted to ride. I received an immediate auto-confirmation that it was received. When we arrived on Saturday and told the same woman who had been so pleasant before that we had reservations made on-line, she said that she did not receive any reservations on-line and that they had no bikes. I pressed her on it, and she said "well if you sent it I would have it here". She nervously looked on ehr computer, then apparently found it, and said "oh I sent you back an email and said we didn't have any bikes. We haven't had bikes in a month.". I received no such email in my inbox, and even checked my spam. No email. My suspicion is that they really had been booked for a month, and she was not even looking at or managing their online reservation service. Lesson learned: if you are going to use this business, DO NOT book through their website. I understand mix-ups happen, and I probably should have followed up with a call. But what made me so angry was the feeling that this woman was not being truthful, and did not want to apologize or admit her mistake. In fact, she was almost rude. Had she sent me an email back, I could have called one of the larger bike businesses in Damascus and gotten in. But it was too late on Saturday morning at 11 am. Personally, we will not be using Shuttle Shack again. Had this woman been gracious, and admitted that they were very busy and she had not been managing their online service, I would have been irritated, but I would have come back, lesson learned. But I do not tolerate a business owner not being willing to admit a mistake and being dishonest about it. read more

Rented from Shuttle Shack yesterday and the experience was awesome. Was able to call first thing that morning and get 2 spots reserved for an hour and a half later. Bikes were in good shape and had emergency supplies and a bike bag on each bike for storage. Will recommend this bike rental shop to everyone I know that will ride the Creeper! read more
