Based on great service experience with a hot tub and in-ground pool at a previous home--both of which were purchased at, installed by, and serviced by Mermaid -- the service has declined horribly. The Muncie store Manager was the initial point of contact. We discussed different hot tubs, features, and pricing. We would not receive call backs from her. After two weeks of no contact, we went into the store again. The gentleman working kept repeating "I don't know anything about that" to each question. The Manager wasn't in. We had requested pricing info, and the price for the same model with the same features increased $2000+ over the three week period we tried to purchase a hot tub from Mermaid. We requested a site evaluation (to ensure our patio was adequate to bear the weight of the filled hot tub), and it was not scheduled, even after three requests. We asked if we could put approximately 70% down (cash) on the hot tub, and pay the balance two weeks later (prior to delivery). We never got an answer. Finally, we purchased a higher quality hot tub at Family Leisure. Family Leisure was happy to work with 75% down. They were courteous, prompt, and knowledgable. As a long time customer with Mermaid from approximately 2001-2008, I was very disappointed in their lack of effort and follow through. This all happened through the Muncie store.

They honored a minor repair under warranty with no issues and chased down another problem that turned out to be the electrical contractors fault. Would buy my spa again from Tim. Delivery did not go the smoothest as my one point of criticism. I talked directly to Tim about it so my complaint wasn't blown off or anything like that. Pro tip: know in advance what direction you want your spa cover lift to go and which direction you want your service panel to go. Go through the manual's installation manual to make sure all steps have been done including closing a drain port in the motor. You're gonna have a bad time if someone decides for you or forgot a step.
