The managers are really sweet and willing to help you out when necessary. There are lots of things to do in the area. Kayaking, tubing, horseback riding and hiking are the way to go if you come down in this direction. Fishing is a little more difficult but if you look around you'll find a spot just right for you. Council Bluff worked great for us . Also check out the Elephant Rocks and visit the highest point in Missouri. Check out this neat little place; totally worth the drive .

We rode for 2 hours through pasture and woods. I would recommend Meramec Farm to any novel or experienced rider just be prepared to follow her rules. Cabins are clean and ample for the space-- MUCH better than any hotel room. Full eat in kitchen with all of the amenities. So fun to wake up with the family and have breakfast. Trail riding was a blast, but be prepared to follow directions from Carole and her guide to ensure your safety on horseback. The best part was waking up to horses grazing right outside your door. Very relaxing to read a book by the stream and enjoy the fresh air. I will certainly keep this place in mind if/when I ever find myself back in Missouri. Breathtaking views, off grid living in wild country. Highly recommended.

Not only do you get to ride the Clydesdales, but you also get to spend some time with them before hand. You get a chance to get as up close as you want, feed them apples, and even hug them if that is your thing. Getting the chance to bond with the one I would be riding before hand was a special treat I did not expect. We then went on an hour long trail ride, and it was not your typical horse trail that is boring and straight. It was a REAL ride. We went up and down hills, through trees, and even across a small creek. And the best part all of is it's though the beauty only the Ozarks can bring.

Kathy Phillips and Dave Somers are wonderful hospitable hosts, at this bucolic out of the way gorgeous resort! If you are a regular traveler to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways this is the place. Super clean cabins well insulated, great A/C and heat.Free firewood. Filtered tap water, and water pressure is fantastic. Brand new sheets, tons of pillows, each cabin is decorated in country style. 3 miles from Main Street and 1 mile tucked into the back woods sits 250 acres of quiet, starlight and scenic tranquility. Dave Somers has refurbished all cabins and cabin 4 was our place for 7 delightful days. (4 over looks a beautiful pond and faces the sunrise). Dog friendly, we brought our two pups that played well with Kathy's doggies. See pics for gorgeous views of Coldwater, outside and in. 5 stars for Coldwater ranch! Each cabin has 2 twin beds, kitchenette, shower and a rustic country feel. They have a few "community" dogs that you can't help but love. You are close to everything for canoeing, food, and fun. A place to come back and relax by a fire or sit on the front porch.
