Since this pool is run by the Hillhurst/Sunnyside association the price is very reasonable to get in. A very economical activity for families. They have a grassy area where you can lay down your towels/blanket and sit. They also have a few plastic chairs to use however those get scooped up fast, so come early if you want a chair. On hot days, this place is always packed especially with kids. As for food. I would pack a few snacks or even a picnic and bring them. This pool has very limited snacks and no real food. Things like popsicles, chips and chocolate bars only. Do note, they only accept cash. Swimming makes you hungry, so come prepared with food or with cash. Great little place to escape the heat and be outside swimming. As we know Calgary doesn't have many of these outdoor pools and this place has been around a long time. Prices are reasonable for admission and food (actually cheap for food/snacks). The pool is heated so even on a cooler day you are warm when you are in the pool. Our kids love it. This year we decided to try out the swim lessons. They are Red Cross Certified and the same ones we take through Cardel Place, just less time. This was initially a concern for me and in the end my son didn't do so well (but then again he didn't do so well at Cardel either). My daughter on the other hand excelled in her lessons. For those kids that might be slower on the uptake of learning (like my son in swimming) I'm not so sure missing out on 2 hours of learning time (Highwood 2.5 hours vs Cardel 4 hours) is to their (or his) advantage. I know of another 4 yr/old who has had to repeat his lessons a couple of times at Highwood so again the amount of learning time raises a question. I certainly like the facility, it's clean, everyone who works there is friendly and clearly loves their job, the instructors really good, but I think less instructional time is not good for kids who are having challenges. One of my doctors has been coming here for years for lessons and has also expressed the same concerns regarding time constraints (I ran into her this week). Great place for an afternoon with the kids and they offer summer camps here - how fun!

I spend 4 months every year in San Diego area and can confidently say that, in comparison, this is a better gym for its wider range of facilities and competitive annual fees for seniors. What makes it a pleasure to visit the gym are its friendly employees. I can cite Charrito, Witold and Alyza as representative employees that assist with smile.

There's also plenty of stations for cleansing wipes for the machines. I spent 2.5hrs there and got a great workout! I HIGHLY recommend!

When Shakespeare wrote of the transcendental beauty of Olivia in Twelfth Night, it was highly likely the mental image he conjured up was that of Elizabeth. I get sad when I don't get to see Elizabeth. In fact, the customer service she has provided has been second to none. If I was an employer, I would model my entire employee training structure around how well she handles customers. Frankly, I would be surprised if Elizabeth did not find herself rapidly ascending the ranks of MNP and taking on a very high level position. It would be a discredit to MNP if that did not happen. Elizabeth is absolutely 100% amazing. The GOAT. I think Michael Jordan writes Elizabeth fan mail. I could go on. But I won't. But I could. You get the picture. You BETTER get the picture. We've consistently run into issues with equipment setup here, and this night was easily the worst. We showed up expecting the court to be ready, and the volleyball net wasn't even set up. After asking for help, the staff member who came down brought equipment that clearly hadn't been checked. One of the posts had a snapped rope, and the net was completely tangled, which took a long time to rethread and fix. What really stood out was the lack of urgency and accountability. We were told this was the only net available, and then the staff member just left us there with no solution. Meanwhile, a full group of people who booked and paid for the court were stuck standing around trying to fix broken equipment themselves. I went back upstairs a second time to the front desk asking for help, either to find replacement equipment or another staff member who could actually assist. Eventually, I ended up going into their staff storage area myself as a customer, where I found multiple usable replacement posts sitting there the entire time. So the equipment was available, it just wasn't provided. By the time everything was finally set up, we were over a half hour into our booking and it threw off the entire night. At this point, it's not just frustrating, it's a pattern. For a facility that has repeat bookings from organized leagues, this level of disorganization and lack of preparation just isn't acceptable.

There are gymnasiums to work out gym to ice rinks and party rooms. Swimming is my main focus as that it is the warmer of the ones in Calgary. Wave pool and water slides. Overall nice to spend time in summer or winter.
