So after looking online for places to eat around the area, Shoulder of Mutton's name kept popping up, not so much on Yelp, but other review sites. Its an 'old skool' pub, which engages with the community, serving the best grub in town... well I kind of agree some what.
On arrival, we were told we had to order a drink before we were allowed to sit at a table, there were quite a few empty tables, I thought this was strange and unnecessary, the pair who just arrived before us, didn't seem to have order before taking their seats. I remember a time when I received this kind of treatment was up north in Middlesbrough.
But anyway, the venue is quite cosy, intimate, small, but had a lot of character, it is an old building after all and certainly well looked after. There is even that smell of coldness when a new customer enters the 'cabin'
The menu looks good, and I can see why people here has given nice review, ordered burger and chips, burger came in a nice bun, burger was home made, and its was skin on chips. Certainly the type of food you would not be served at a local cafe, or chip shop. I guess its not a surprise to me, because living in London, its kind of the standard. But I would still have given four star.
However the food took over an hour to arrive with no apology, had to asked for sauces. read more
