I'm not the type of person that is big on the GYM. I hate going and have trouble forcing myself. So…read morethe other night at 11pm I was thinking I have to do something. I need a hobby man. I search to see what the deal was with this gym I passed a few times while biking. I saw it was an MMA gym and they were having a $19 week. So you can go to as many classes as you want in one week for $19. So I was like ok I'll try it. Being weird and uncomfortable in my own skin like I am I was anxious to walk in. So the next day i got a text from them. I replied I wanted to go over the options with someone in person. So they said stop in a little early. I got there at 5:40 while a kids class was going on. The owner sauntered over and introduced himself. Thanked me for coming. He seems like a very zen type of person. He showed me where to sit while the front desk helped someone else. Guy at the front desk was super helpful and easy to talk to. He gave the down low and didn't apply any pressure to sign up now OR DIE. You know how some places are. He just got me ready and then showed me where to go. The 101 class was really cool. A lot of people were new or just there to learn self defense. I didn't feel like there was any competitive I have to be the best. Everyone was pleasant and there to learn. Good mix of people too. The 101 class started on time and shot straight into drills. There was no time wasted in the hour class. So anyway I was impressed so I went back to the front desk. Again no pressure. He was just like oh how did you like it? He showed me a few benifits of signing up in the next 24 hours and then was going to leave it at that. I was like no sign me up now. So I got 2 weeks free, got my $19 back and got a discount on the sign up fee. All in all it came out to $169 a month I think. I wont be billed til April. The owner came over again while eating a banana and asked if I liked it too. I wanted to go back for the next 101 on Wednesday but my arms are really sore. So I'll wait til Friday.

Amazing place! Welcoming to beginners with plenty of skill and knowledge for competitors. Jackson…read moreis a great coach for striking and grappling and he's hired an excellent staff to supplement his knowledge. The community is top notch and I consider my teammates to be great friends.

Joey Sr. actually introduced me to boxing back in February 2016 and I've been hooked ever since. Be…read morewarned-what you see is what you get. If you're looking for a laid back, go at your own pace, scented candles and freshly laundered towels kind of gym...stop reading this and go elsewhere. Joey is there to push you to the brink. He's got a zero bullshit tolerance and I can respect that. To the people who complain that they aren't allowed into class late, the classes are less than an hour so you should really be getting there EARLY to make sure you're getting the benefit of the entire class. Boxing is a wonderful sport and everyone I have met through it is extremely disciplined and Joey is no different. Give Joltin' Jabs a try and see if you can hang! Get there. Get there early. Get a great workout. Repeat.

SOOO excited that a boxing studio opened in Center City (and is available on classpass)…read more If you think this is going to be intimidating, you're right. But try it out anyway. Joey (owner/trainer) is so nice but isn't afraid to call you out if you're not giving 100%. If you don't like profanity, maybe this isn't the place for you. Personally I love it, that's prob why I keep coming back. Classes run 50 minutes. Start with a 10ish minute warm up of ab/arm workouts. In groups of four, you then move through stations: heavy bag, speed bag, double end bag. In between, you're doing whole class cardio activities: jump rope, burpees, push ups, crab walk, bear crawl, etc. During all stations, Joey is constantly walking around and fixing form. There are no breaks, bring water and a towel. I'm definitely sore after each class and I'm pretty in shape. My only complaint is the gloves, make sure to wash your hands on the way out. Yes they're clean-ish, just smelly. But hey, he offers gloves to borrow so thats kewl. OH ALSO! Classes are offered at awesome times for all those in the full time work misery. Morning (6-9am), lunch, and evening (530-730pm). Single drop in classes are $27. I hope he runs some specials.
