Super fast service and exactly what we needed on our drive back to SLC from Redfish Lake. I was craving soft serve ice cream and ordered a medium twist in a cup. It was HUGE! I still ate it all of course, but next time will get a small. The ice cream was delicious and exactly what I wanted. It was cheap too! We got two ice creams and fries for about $9 and change. The fries were okay - they needed some more salt and a lot of them were overcooked and too crunchy. There's seating inside but we took it to go. Been eyeing this every time we drive by and finally we decided to stop by for a meal and a shake. We had about 10 people ordering in our group, so luckily no one was behind us....yet. We each ordered and the cashier made it very seamless and easy. We got our burger meals and shake within 10-20 minutes. Everybody was super nice and patient with all our orders. I had the mushroom burger with curly fries, while others had a variety of stuff but mainly shakes. The burger was your typical burger, at least it was not dry. Maybe a little too much mayo for me, but I scooped it out. Haven't had curly fries in a long time, so that hit the spot while slurping up my Huckleberry shake. I don't usually order shake, but I had to since I'm here and they have huckleberry flavor. I do wish it had more huckleberry in there instead of just the purple color and a hint of it. We ordered finger steaks. I had tots. Kristy had French fries. I think Kristy liked the finger steaks more than I did. The coating was thin and they were fairly dry. It also looked like they were cooked in old oil. I was surprised they had packets of cocktail sauce instead of freshly made sauce. Remember it's just ketchup and horseradish. Pretty easy to make. I was surprised, though, that they made a tasty tartar sauce. I didn't expect that to be made there. It was quite good. The staff was friendly and helpful. This was a fun place to slip into as we'd just visited the local cave/museum up the road. It's not much to look at from the outside and has only a slightly better feel on the inside, but you can't argue with the standards and selection. And judging from the number of folks coming and going, it's probably the best local restaurant in town (i.e. not a corporate fast food joint). read more

The burgers used to be so good. not anymore. We stopped April 17th, 2024 for a burger and order took a long time and then when we finally did get our burgers, they were not the old Shoshone Snack Bar hamburgers we used to get 5 to 6 years ago. These burgers were like they were made yesterday. The extra onions i ordered werent there either. We used to stop when we passed through, but now we wont be stopping. My family and I were traveling to Sun Valley and needed a quick bite to eat. We stopped at the snack bar due to the good reviews on yelp. Well we walked in and nobody was wearing a mask and got glares from the workers and the customers for wearing them. We proceeded to order and the workers preparing our food did not wear hair nets or masks. Not to mention I saw a fry fall onto the table and they picked it up and placed it on the tray to be served to the customers. When we went to sit down the table had crumbs and other crap all over it. All I can say is "Who the heck allows the lead in this establishment to treat the employees and customers like this?" My wife and I stopped in for an ice cream cone on our way home. The place was pretty busy and the customers were being quite patient. This red-headed guy was out of control. He grabbed the phone away from this kid (probably 16 years old) and slammed it onto the counter and chewed him out for taking the call. We were then ordered to move into the dining area to wait for our order. The look on this youngster's face was pure embarrassment. He then yelled out that everyone needed to get up front to help. Mind you, there was only one customer behind us and his order was being handled. EVERY staff member was busy working (no-one was slacking.) In a few seconds, our ice cream was delivered and I told the young girl that I was sorry that she had to work with the this guy and that we wouldn't be back. We went outside to eat our ice cream. A few minutes later, Mr. Redhead came out and apologized to some of the nearby patrons for how hectic things had become. He went on with his business of replacing the garbage from the outside container. Again, he came out and asked how we were doing. I told him that he needed to treat his help with some respect, that we wouldn't be back, and that he was a "horse's ass." His reply was "it takes one to know one", then went back inside. DO NOT EAT HERE. I'm shocked this place has not been shut down from health code violations. I should have turned around and left when I noticed all the flys, but that was after I ordered so I decided to give it a chance. I ordered a grilled cheese and watched in disgust as the cook prepared the sandwich, wiped down the kitchen with a nasty, old rag and bottle of bleach, and then go back to finish cooking my sandwich, without changing gloves. She might as well have taken that dirty rag and wiped the grease off the sandwich and given it to me. The snack bar in Shoshone used to be one of my favorite restaurants. They previously sold the snack bar and now there is new owners. Well they upped the prices and offer less food. Their hamburger patties are the size of McDonald's patties. 2 hamburgers no sides and two small shakes was 20$! I asked them not over blend my Oreo shake and all I got was attitude! This was the only thing that really kept Shoshone on the map. The customer service was absolute shit as well! read more

If you're here for dessert, stick with the soft serve cones. Got an Oreo mint shake and it was pretty terrible. It was super runny and the Oreo was blended into dust that made for a pukish looking puddle in my overpriced cup. read more

This is a snack bar, so I think that you should treat it as such. They are known for large ice cream servings. So, you should definitely come for that. I don't know about their food offerings because I've only had ice cream here. I would make sure that you have ice cream on your mind if you come to the SSB. read more

Just went in for the first time. Line was small and service was quick. We got a burger and a Malibu chicken sandwich. Both had fries. We also got an awesome milkshake. Price was great and food was amazing! The lady that took our order cane to check on us and made sure we got exactly what we asked for. There was a time, years ago, I would give the Snack Bar a 5 star rating. Coming back home after 11 or so years in Utah (Work related), I looked forward to that 5 star food. I gave it 2 chances, I don't know what or who happened, but it is now Mcdonald's level food at inflated prices. read more
