First of all, walking in, you're greeted with an intensely delicious smell of all the amazing spices and seasonings they're cooking with here. You walk over to the ordering counter and see what kind of options they have for doubles and rotis, but they have a large selection of all sorts of entrees, desserts, and drinks. I wanted to order half the menu when I was in there but settled on the fish double which they loaddddd UP!! When I tell you that this was a hefty double I was like I think I just bought my ticket to heaven, have mercy. The fish was soooo tender and the curry it was cooked in was just a blast of flavor. The carbs soak it all up and does get a little messy/mushy but I'm sooooo here for it. Delicious.

This spot is a relatively…read moreunassuming hole in the wall joint that serves up roti, doubles, and plates with a variety of meat options including goat, duck, and oxtail amongst others. During my first visit I ended up grabbing goat doubles which was essentially chana masala and stewed goat in between two soft pieces of bread. The flavor was excellent with a bit of spice and a slight sweetness to everything. I was shocked when my buddy payed for this order as it came out to a bit over 5 bucks. Sorry, I'm just surprised when I see affordable eats nowadays! During my most recent trip to A&A, I tried the beef foil bowl. The staff there loaded up a small foil bowl with rice and peas, stewed beef, and some cabbage. The portion was huge... In terms of flavor, the beef was well seasoned and cabbage had a great texture. Both my experiences here were positive with my only disappointment being that they were sold out of oxtail during both trips. Hopefully I can show up early enough to try the oxtail before I leave. If you're in the area and looking for some affordable and tasty carribean food, give this spot a try.

Terrible Service (Would Not Recommend)…read more I went in there this morning. From the moment I walked in the owners stared me up and down, as if I had stolen from them before. Even though I was polite and said good morning, they didn't respond back. Instead I was met with a "what do you want gaze." After they packed my order, I paid and said thank you. Again they didn't respond, just got unwelcoming stench of an attitude and unwelcoming vibes from the woman owner. I won't lie, I didn't eat the food what I bought because they made me feel so uncomfortable. They packed my food in the back out of my view and my discernment kicked in. I thought to myself, if their terrible attitude is reflection of their food then it probably won't sit well in my stomach. Sometimes energy is everything you need know about a person. Such a pity because I would have loved to make them my doubles spot when I leave the laundromat every Saturday morning. Now they don't have to worry about ever seeing me again.

The cabbage, potato and channa has plenty going on without needing a carnivorous assist; I wonder if horseradish is a secret ingredient in the cabbage. I was luxurious and bought two doubles so I could try the pepper sauce and tamarind formulations, and also enjoyed the Solo sorrel soda.

Of course $20+ later I have current rolls, oxtail Roti and saltfish pie. Small interior, friendly staff and various carriben bakery items to choose from. Saltfish pie..basically similar to an empanada. Very spicy a bit salty but I thoroughly enjoyed. Oxtail Roti. He asked if I wanted spicy I said yes. However, at home ready to partake was not spicy at all. Oxtail, wasn't a fan of the taste. It didn't taste bad but there wasn't any wow factor. Also I think it has to do with the seasoning. Each island although we basically cook the same things the seasoning tend to differ. This was very apparent I think this was a trini spot. Would I get it again, probably not, but I am open to try others like the shrimp and definitely the saltfish pie Currant Roll: sorry but Allan's is still the top. But if I can't get to Allan's Royal is good alternative. Moist , flaky not overly sweet. It was enjoyable. I would return to try other options.
