On 05/02/2026 we returned to stay at Pelican on our was back from the Keys. This time, the stay was even more fabulous: after my suggestion from the prior stay that A/C could be a tad quieter, Sam had already had it fixed! Another nice surprise was the pool. On the day of arrival, Pompano was hit with a heat wave, and it was a bliss to discover that at 99F outside, the water in the pool was pleasantly cool (perhaps because it's located between two building shielding it from the sun's full ardor). As on the visit a week before, the room was immaculately clean, Sam was once again unsurpassed in his sincere hospitality and checking us in in a genuine informal way - i.e. not checking a computer box but instead seeing us in to our room and making sure that everything that needed to be understood (like getting in/out, etc.) was totally clear. As far as "efficiency" goes when it comes to places to say, some look at it askance, but in the case of Pelican by the Sea, it has, in our view, an exceptionally positive meaning: It has everything the intended guests need and has nothing they do not. The latter saves on unnecessary outlays that can be then extended as savings in the form of more affordable rates (almost an oxymoron in South Florida nowadays) for the customers, and that's exactly what this place excels at doing. Of course, it's not Ritz Carlton, but nobody compos mentis coming here expects it to be one, and for what Pelican offers, its QPR is unbeatable.

Has full fridge, electric stove/oven, plus microwave, so convenient for eating in. Enough dishes for 2 people but no more, and clean up after yourself every day and you'll be fine. Not a lot of sitting room, but it was nice to sit on the chairs outside of our door in the warm FL sunshine. Queen-size bed was comfortable. Pool area was being retiled so it wasn't good for sitting out there (some folks did at night, however). It will be beautiful when it's finished. Owner is on site every day and always reachable. He made sure we had all we needed, including nice beach chairs. Price was pretty reasonable considering location and amenities. I definitely would return.

She greeted us by name multiple times each day, was consistently sweet and attentive, and genuinely made us feel cared for. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it made such a difference in our experience. We adored her. Gerardson was equally wonderful. He patiently helped us with questions more than once and was always so kind, calm, and soft-spoken. He has such a peaceful, welcoming presence that immediately puts you at ease. Aaliyah greeted us every single time we saw her with the sweetest smile and wave. Those small moments of warmth and friendliness never went unnoticed and added so much to the atmosphere of our stay. Honestly, I can't remember ever asking hotel staff for their names before, but these three left such an impression on us that we specifically wanted to recognize them in our review. They were exceptional. Check-in was seamless, and from the moment we arrived, the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and comfortable. The grounds and pool area were absolutely immaculate, our room was spotless and incredibly comfortable, and parking could not have been easier. Every detail seemed thoughtfully cared for. It was impressive to see how smoothly everything operated and how well the staff worked together to keep the property beautiful and running perfectly. Best of all, everyone seemed happy to be there, which created such a positive and relaxing atmosphere. We also loved the close proximity to the beach and the shared amenities with the Wyndham across the street. It was such an easy, enjoyable walk before our feet were in the sand and we were soaking up the ocean breeze. We truly loved our stay and were genuinely sad to leave. This hotel gave us more than just a place to stay -- it gave us an experience we'll remember fondly. We would recommend this beautiful property to absolutely anyone without hesitation and have no doubt they'll leave just as impressed as we were.

Unfortunately there was still some construction happening out by the pool. It should be done by the time we go back. The front desk gave us a little snack bag for our inconvenience. This resort is a short walk to Pompano beach. So you don't have to worry about finding parking and paying for it. Checkin was fast because there was no concierge on duty. But that meant we still had to speak to one to be able to get our wristbands. Deandra is outstanding. I hope that was her name. She was very professional and always greets us going in and out. Washer and dryer is not in the rooms, it near the elevators on each floor. Couple of times we had to wait for them. The dryer on our floor needs replacement or servicing. After 1hr on high, clothes were still damp. Parking slightly inconvenient if you have to park in the garage, because there's no access to the building except thru the main doors. Fortunately we only had to park there once. Wish they had ceiling fans in rooms, that would help with inconsistent temperatures.

I can go on a rant about how much I enjoyed my stay! To save the readers time and myself from writing the longest review ever I will just leave highlights. CHECK IN: - I was able to check in before I arrived by downloading the app - picked my own room on the app - key to room was available on app before my arrive - parking $16 per day (make sure to stop by the front desk before parking your car so you can get the key for the garage) ROOM: - King suite city view with balcony 10/10 - everything in the room was spotless clean - cups, plates, soap and sponge provided BAR: - Happy Hour everyday 3pm- 6pm - bar is open til 10pm - kids pizza $10 (I do not recommend) it was worst then cafeteria pizza from elementary - drink of the month $8 on HH .. not bad - BBQ & chicken flatbread $20 .. I'll pass * spent $42 on the bar.. 1 drink, 1 kids drink, flatbread and a kids pizza. Service charge is included. I only went there once during my stay. I definitely would recommend eating/ drinking offsite. POOL: - so fun - lots of kids during the weekend I went which was great for my son - hot tub was not hot.. from what I heard they were waiting on a piece to get it fixed - rack with towels you grab on the way to pool - tables with umbrellas & beach chairs * pool area could have been cleaner. During my 3 days there I only saw the cleaning crew come and clean once at 8:30pm. There was clothes left behind, chairs all out of place. Cups and plates from bar laying around. Was it completely awful? No.. but it would have been nice to not have to look at mess. BREAKFAST: - all 3 days options were the same - someone on the other side of the counter to assist/ monitor you I guess? - waffles, pre made omelette, bread, bagels, oatmeal, yogurts , sausage egg and cheese sandwiches - overall good breakfast for being free * during breakfast crew was cleaning and keeping tables clean. I personally would have preferred not having the person behind the counter. I heard her ask a lady if she had kids in the room (because she was grabbing multiple things) what is the lady just liked to eat? LOBBY AREA: - people mingled around - pool table was a great addition - had 3 different game machines - bikes for rent - lots and lots of sitting area to just hang out and relax - 24 hour coffee and tea area ACROSS FROM HOTEL: - 1 min walk - beach - burgerfi - pizza - ice cream -lucky fish bar/ restaurant - oceanic restaurant * Hotel offers 8AM yoga. Free for hotel guest & $20 for everyone else. It's held on the 6th floor roof top with beach views. Absolutely stunning. During the end of yoga the teacher asked if anyone wanted to leave a donation. From the looks of it almost everyone did :) To end my the long review I said I wouldn't be leaving... I definitely recommend this hotel.
